Capital: Sofia – located in the Western part of the
country.
Located in the heart of the Balkans, Bulgaria offers a
highly diverse landscape: the North is dominated by the
vast lowlands of the Danube, while the South by the high
plateaus. Neighbouring countries are: Romania to the North,
Serbia and Macedonia to the West, Turkey and Greece to the
South and in the East, the Black Sea Coast – a location that
attracts numerous tourists all year round.
Geography and climate: Bulgaria features notable
diversity with landscapes ranging from the Alpine snowcapped peaks in Rila, Pirin and the Balkan Mountains, to
the mild and sunny Black Sea Coast; from the typically
continental Danubian Plain (ancient Moesia) in the North, to
the strong Mediterranean climatic influence in the valleys of
Macedonia and in the lowlands in the southernmost parts
of Thrace.
History: A branch of the Slavs merged with the local
Proto-Bulgarians in the late 7th century to form the first
Bulgarian state in the Balkans. In the succeeding centuries,
the Bulgarian and Byzantine Empires dominated South-East
Europe, but by the end of 14th century the Ottoman Turks
overran the region. Bulgaria regained its independence in
1878.
Nowadays, Bulgaria functions as a parliamentary democracy
within a unitary constitutional republic and it’s a member of
the European Union, NATO, the United Nations and the World
Trade Organization.
Russians, Armenians, Arabs, Chinese, Jews, Vietnamese,
Crimean Tatars and Sarakatsani (historically known also as
Karakachans).
Population: The National Statistical Institute of Bulgaria
estimates the country’s population in 2011 at 7,364,570
people. According to the same year census, it consists
mainly of ethnic Bulgarians (84.8%), with two sizable
minorities, Turks (8.8%) and Romani (4.9%). The remaining
percentage includes smaller minorities, most prominently

NATURE
Albena Resort is one of the most rare places in Europe that
manages to keep the nature intact. Having as integral part
one of the most beautiful natural reserves in Bulgaria,

“Baltata Natural Reserve”is covering an area of approximately
183.2 ha on which there are found more than 260 types of
plants, 183 species of birds and 337 kinds of animals, most
of it protected by law and included in Bulgaria’s Red Book.
An important proof of the strong commitment in preserving
the natural environment is the fact that Albena is the only
resort in Bulgaria that has its own climate observation
station, equipped for studying the air temperature, humidity,
wind direction and speed, seawater temperature, as well as
other eco parameters of the environment.
Albena has a gentle climate, with mild winters and
temperate summers. The average temperature in the air
during the summer is between 23 and 28°С and the water
temperature is around 25° С.

BEACH LIBRARIES
In 2013, Albena opened the first free beach library in the
European Union and the third worldwide. In 2014, 2 new
ones were added on different locations of the beach, as
well as 10 new indoor libraries with special reading areas in
several of the hotels. All libraries are completely free and no
card or guarantee are required. The guests are free to take
the books home, but also to bring others in return in order to
diversify our collection. Currently, the bookshelves are filled
with more that 6000 books in over 15 languages.
KIDS
Albena is famous for being a family friendly resort and that’s
mainly because we love our guests, but we simply adore the
little ones!
Because their happiness is extremely important to us, we

EXCURSIONS
NESSEBAR (1 day)
Nessebar – “the town of the 40 churches”, is situated on a beautiful peninsula. It will charm
you with the unique architecture of the family basilicas and houses. One of the oldest towns of
Europe will impress you with its lovely atmosphere and many layers of cultural and historical
heritage, dating back to Thracian times.
FIESTA BULGARIA (evening)
Spend a lovely evening at the “Walnuts” restaurant where you will enjoy an interesting
folklore and variety program. In the end, you will have the chance to see the one of its kind
“fire walking”. Lots of food and drinks from the Bulgarian national cuisine are at your disposal.
PICTURESQUE BULGARIA (1 day)
You’ll be guests at house in the village of Solnik. A ride on donkey carts in the village. Lunch.
Then you’ll take part in the reproduction of folklore rituals from this district. Lots of fun at
the house of aunt Radka and her family. A trip on boats along the river Kamchia - part of the
natural reserve of “Longoza”.
THE COLORFUL FACE OF DOBRUDJA (1 day)
Departure to the town of Balchik, called the “White Town”, one of the oldest European towns.
Visit to the architectural and park complex “The Palace” – the summer residence of the
Romanian Queen Maria. It tells the story of unusual love, which created a world of beauty
and harmony. Be ready for a remarkable architecture, which combines plenty of cultural and
religious influences, beautiful gardens, mystic senses, poesy and sea spirit. The “Palace” is
situated in a 10 ha large botanical garden, the biggest one in the Balkans with more than
2000 species of flowers and cactuses. Departure to Dobrich, a town situated in the very heart
of Dobroudja, also called the “granary” of Bulgaria. Visit to the Ethnographical House, which
shows what the house of the average Bulgarian looked like during the period of transition from
the Bulgarian Revival to the Modern times. Walk through the Architectural and Ethnographic
Open-air Museum “The Old Dobrich”. Visit to the exhibition hall “The archeology of Dobrudja”
where you can see the oldest processed gold in the world. Free time in the shopping area.
JEEP SAFARI (1 day)
Experience an extreme trip on military jeeps through the beautiful Batovo forest. Visit to a
barrel master’s house. Picnic. Visit to a beekeeper’s house, honey and rakia tasting and many
other surprises. Unforgettable experiences guaranteed!
VARNA – DELFINARIUM (1/2 day)
One of the best attractions the city of Varna is the Dolphinarium, the only one of its kind in
Bulgaria. Within 45 minutes, the intelligent dolphins will play, sing and dance for you. After
the dolphin show, you will discover one of the best towns at the Black sea coast.

BALCHIK – KALIAKRA CAPE (1/2 day)
A visit to the architectural and park complex “The Palace” – the summer residence of the
Romanian Queen Maria, situated in a 10 ha large park with more than 2000 species of flowers
and cactuses. Departure to Kaliakra Cape and a walk along the picturesque natural reserve,
associated with many legends. On the way there, a short visit to the Ethnographic House in
Kavarna. On the way back to Albena, you will visit a potter’s workshop.
COUNTRY AND PEOPLE (1 day)
Visit to the stud farm “ Kabiuk “ – the largest in the country, horse demonstrations and
presentation of various breeds of elite horses, possibility for horse riding. Folklore rituals at
the Ethnographical house in Preslav. Lunch, Performance of the local traditions and crafts.
Local wine tasting. On the way back to Albena visit to the rock relief “The Madara Horseman”,
the only one of its kind in Bulgaria and in Europe, the most important monument of the epoch
of the early Middle Ages, a symbol of khans’ power, included in the World Cultural and Natural
Heritage List of UNESCO.
YACHT PICNIC (1 day)
A panoramic trip on a yacht in the bay of Balchik. Lunch on a secluded beach. Fishing and
entertainment.
ALONG THE DANUBE RIVER (1 day)
The route goes through the fertile land of Dobrudga plain. A visit to the ethnographical
complex of Alfatar. Apricot rakia tasting. Visit to “The Holy Trinity” church with a unique
collection of icons. Departure to Silistra. Lunch - Bulgarian cuisine, drinks, folklore program.
Boat trip along the Danube river. Оn the way back stop in the town of Dobrich , visit to the
ethnographical complex “The Old Dobrich”.
WELCOME ON BOARD THE BARQUENTINE “ROYAL HELENA” (1 day)
Five hours cruise to Nessebar, welcome drink on board, safety briefing and tour of the ship, fun
and games on board. Lunch. Arrival in Nessebar, sightseeing tour, free time. One direction of
travel is by bus, and the other with the sailing ship "Royal Helena”. Lunch is on board.
BACK TO THE PAST (1/2 day)
A visit to Aladga Monastery – the most popular rock monastery along the Bulgarian Black sea
coast, dating back to the 13th-14th centuries AD. A visit to the “the Petrified Forest” - a unique
natural phenomenon with no analogue in the whole world. A visit to one of the symbols of
Varna - the cathedral “The Assumption of the Virgin”, situated in the very centre of the town.
Free time in Varna – the sea capital of Bulgaria.
BOAT TRIP - THE YACHT "Ali Baba" (1/2 day)
The "Ali Baba" yacht is the largest and most convenient tourist boat on our coast. Traveling
by bus to Balchik. Traveling along the Northern Black Sea Coast. The boat stops near Cape
Kaliakra. Fishing, swimming, diving, music. Lunch with Bulgarian drinks based on the system
All Inclusive: brandy, vodka, gin, mastic, mint, white wine, red wine, beer, soft drinks, mineral
water.
PIRATE BOAT TRIP (1/2 day)
Sea battle between the two ships, animation program, pirate masquerade and entertainment,
food and drinks on board.
