CHRIS LAMB
DAVID RUBIO
Coach Johnson’s first year at Iowa State
proved to be an impact year. Johnson,
former assistant coach at the University
of Wisconsin and two-time All–American at the University of Nebraska, led the
Cyclones to their best record in 10 years,
while setting a school record for conference wins, and just missing a berth in the
NCAA tournament. Johnson’s squad had
a strong season at the net, finishing second in the Big 12 in blocks. At Wisconsin
she helped lead the Badgers to one NCAA
Championship game, three other Regional Finals and three Big Ten titles. Johnson was the starting setter on
the 1995 Nebraska team that won the NCAA championship. Johnson’s
wealth of volleyball experience includes stops as a player or coach at
every level – from International to high school and club levels.
Coach Lamb is setting a high bar for himself at Wichita State. Under Lamb’s guidance in the past two seasons, the Shockers
have set more than 10 school records and
have recorded the school’s first conference championship as well as the first ever
NCAA Tournament victory. Since the 2004
season, Lamb has led the Shockers to a 539 record, two Missouri Valley Conference
Regular season titles, a MVC Tournament
title, has coached the school’s first conference player-of-the-year, and was selected
conference coach-of-the-year in both 2004
and 2005. Lamb is also the former head coach and founder of the Empire
Volleyball Club, one of the nation’s most successful clubs based in Santa
Rosa, Calif. During his nine years running the program, Lamb helped
more than 80 of his club players earn collegiate scholarships.
Coach Rubio is becoming the master at
turning collegiate volleyball programs
around. In 1992 he took over a Wildcat
team that didn’t win a conference match
the year before, and since then he has
guided the Wildcats to 12 NCAA tournament appearances (including 10 straight).
That includes three Elite Eights and a
Final Four (2001). He was recognized as
the National Coach of the Year in 2001,
and was named the Pac-10 Coach of the
Year after leading Arizona to its first-ever
conference championship. His teams have
won 20 matches nine times in his 14-year
run and have finished in the top 25 in 103 of the last 112 AVCA coaches
polls, including a streak of 30 straight weeks in the Top 10 from 200003. Prior to joining the Wildcat program, Rubio developed one of the
nation’s winningest Division II programs at Cal State Bakersfield. In
five seasons, he coached seven All-Americans, led the Roadrunners to
three consecutive Top 5 finishes and won the 1989 National Championship, and in 1991 was honored as the CCAA Coach of the Year.

JOE LYNCH
SHERRY DUNBAR
Joe Lynch has brought a successful high
school and club coaching resume to the
staff at Iowa State. At the high school
level, Lynch consistently had his squads
contending for titles, earning eight conference championships, four state runner-up
finishes and two state championships. On
the club level, Lynch directed the Milwaukee Sting volleyball club, which won a
national championship in 2004 in the 16year old division, while earning five other
top-three finishes in both the 16 and 18year old group competitions. Lynch is also
an accomplished player, participating on the USVBA men’s team for
eight years, earning All-Rookie team honors in 1994.
In just her third season as head coach of the
Cougars, Coach Dunbar has taken College
of Charleston to unprecedented heights
in the programs history. This past season,
Dunbar led the Cougars to its best overall
and conference record in school history,
guiding the team to its second-straight trip
to the NCAA Tournament and winning
their first-round game – the first Southern
Conference team to earn a NCAA tournament victory. Twice named Southern Conference coach of the Year, Dunbar has won
back-to-back-to-back Division titles and
two straight Southern Conference Tournament championships. In 2005,
the Dunbar-coached Cougars led the NCAA with 20.4 digs per game.
