The decision has been made that only building and controlling Independent Black Education Institutions will arrest the white supremacist assault on Black people: Young Black men in particular. Bro. Dawah has agreed to take over the Electronic Media for The Nat Turner Trail. Working under the guidance of H. K. Khalifah, as a team the Dynamic Duo are leading the effort to acquire 123 acres of the Birth Land of Nat Turner to build an ―Academy for Black Boys.‖ The first goal is to ―Free The Land‖ of debt: raising cash is necessary: see page 5 to support the work of the committed Black Youth. KHALIFAH MADE ON SEVERAL INTERNET BASED RADIO SHOWS DURING THE HARVEST SEASON, 2011: HE IS APPEALING TO THE SOURCE OF HIS SUPPORT FOR 37 YEARS: THE NATIONAL BLACK COMMUNITY) Good evening again everyone, I am thankful to brother Sentwaki Ngosi and brother Ramisus for giving me the opportunity to appeal to the national black community for support of a very important part of our heritage and history… The heritage is the legacy of Nat Turner, and others like Nat Turner who took direct action against a heartless enemy that not only stole everything from us, but then and today, is using our stolen wealth to keep us buried in the experimental system that they established with the intention to insure that our oppression be for eternity – The experiment is a social system that is based in White Supremacy. Nat Turner and other Black nationalist Freedom Fighters left us as legacy and history of how to overcome and defeat this evil doctrine –What I was called on to do is build a Independent Black Institution to correct and preserve their legacy and history as a living memorial about how to defeat an evil doctrine. In 1990 I bought a 123 acre tract of the Birthland of Nat Turner. In the year 2011 I find myself in the same position and financial shape as Elders before me. The elders owned large or small tracts of land, but they found themselves at a point in life that they could no longer maintain and hold on: so the white man from whom they had borrowed money, using their land as collateral for loans over the years, foreclosed on the Elders and the Black community lost more land. The difference in my case is that I never farmed the land for a living; But I too have borrowed some money that now as an Elder I am having some serious difficulties re-paying. But all of the land was not used as collateral: so I do have some options: #1. I can sell the land and save my home. Or 2) I can sell the home and the land, take the money and retire someplace 3) I can make an appeal to the community that made me who I ultimately became, as a practicing Black nationalist: That is the National Black Community. I hope the above is clear: If it isn’t, I’ll take questions after laying out the case: thank you again for giving me the opportunity to speak to the good people in Philadelphia…I am sorry I am making my appeal so late; it is so late in the decision that must be made that I find myself approaching a real emergency….Please bear with me as I attempt to put the above into the context of the message of guidance left us by our ancestors in Ancient Kemit: this is the main source that confirm that the situation I find myself in personally is in the order of what is happening in the world today: as we know, change is the only sure thing in the world…Everything in creation is in Divine Order and the changes we must deal with are designed to get us to harmonize our lives within the Divine Order…I am hoping keeping every square inch of the Nat Turner’s Birthland is in Divine Order…if the National Black Community make it possible, the change I’ll make will also make it possible to keep the Land: if my people don’t make it possible to keep and build the land for the service of themselves, that means the CHANGE I MUST MAKE TO GET IN DIVINE ORDERWILL REQUIRE THAT THE LAND MUST GO…Up to 2011 I justified maintaining by survivor state, though I had land I could have sold long ago for the wealth, but I held on because of expectations that the intrinsic value of the historic land of ………………………………..(see page 5) 2 NAT TURNER REFERENCE LIBRARY: RIGHT WING OF BUILDING BEST SELLING KHA BOOKS Classics 1. 2. 3. 4. As an Elder it is like I am in the Fall season: our ancestors in Ancient Kemit guided us as to where we should be and what we should be doing in the Harvest time of the year…we reap a good crop if we planted well in the spring and nurtured it properly during the summer. Well, I think I planted good seeds in the spring of my life…now that I am in the season of change, I must be in harmony with the change; or I’ll not reap what I have sown and will not make the change that will place me in harmony with the Divine Order that change gives us the opportunity to get into…..As a farmer, if you don’t harvest your crop at the right time, it will deteriorate, rot and disintegrate back into the earth. In other words no matter how well you planted, if you don’t harvest it in time you’ll lose it. I invested in the Birthland of Nat Turner: In the Fall Season of my life I find myself having to make a change: I am determined to make the right change in the way that will benefit Black people the most. Tonight, given the circumstance of my situation, it appears that the change that I’ll have to make will cause me to cut back on much of what my service in the Liberation Struggle of Black people have been about over the years. Without the land, one of more of the following will not be possible to continue, let alone start: The Nat Turner Library: The Nat Turner Library is designed to be about more than the correct and preservation of the history and legacy of Nat Turner: Most of the Elders and Teacher that guided me as a Black Nationalist will be left out of traditional Black American history books – if I don’t develop my concepts for the Nat Turner Library…….My Homestead – It is difficult for me to think I’ll be able to sleep anyplace on the planet if I can’t go back to my home: the place where the Nat Turner Library is.The Man-Up Camp – The Man-Up Camp is the part of the Nat Turner Land that will be almost impossible to replace: the land will be gone, as will the outdoor showers that were built last summer to accommodate the 40 young men who went through the rites of passage on the land during Black Activity Month in August.Kujichagulia Village/Eco Village – The Kujichagulia Village is a concept, a vision of Keidi Awadu: as you know in an African Village, if the land is abundant enough, the land can sustain all the needs of the people in the village: The Birthland of Nat Turner is such a place.A Place of Refuge for Black people during Crisis – The many crisis that are coming to bear, more frequently, against the United States of America cause folk to get out of the eye of the storm: they seek to go to a safer place; a place of refuge – with the work of The Kujichagulia Village, we can promote the Birthland of Nat Turner as a place of destination during a crisis: I estimate that we can accommodate, maybe two million people….The Believers Retirement Home – This is just a concept to build a Rest home for Believing People; Believing people to me are people who believe in Freedom for Black people. These are Black people who committed their lived to fighting racism in one way or another (the fought because the have faith that the ultimate destiny of Black people is Freedom); (see next column) CELEBRATE GYE NYAME NOVEMBER 24, 2011 KHALIFAH KUJICHAGULIA VILLAGE VIRGINIA By The Newport Newservice OCTOBER 26, 2011 DREWRYVILLE, VA. Have you ever thought of an alternative reason for celebration, appreciat ion and giving of thanks on the 4th Thursday in November - than what is normal and traditional in the United States of America? You are not alone. Some Black people in America have taken to calling the day ―Thanks Taking,‖ and a few other names I’ll not mention. But though the longing for an alternative stayed with us, we settled on the day as a good time to be together with family & friends; and that is a good alternative, whether one eats turkey or not. BETTER ALTERNATIVE OFFERED: GYE NYAME In the year 2011, the Visionary who conceived Kujichagulia Villages to ―bring people out of the urban killing fields in North America,‖ Master Keidi Awadu, is calling Black people to come to Khalifah Kujichagulia Village Virginia (KKVV) on one or more of the days during the weekend to celebrate Gye Nyame. This is an alternative that will also effectively pay homage to the fallen warrior that called it into being: Dr. Khallid Muhammad. We know that Dr. Muhammad was a Blackman of different meaning for many people. But regardless to what he was to the world at large, when he said ―no love for the other side,‖ we all knew clearly what he was saying. When he called for the celebration of Gye Nyame, the reason and purpose is just as clear: Seemingly the captivity of African people has an endless number of holidays and events that save for the time off from work, they have no positive meaning to Black people. Indeed, many times we are actually celebrating our on captivity and oppression! While it would be a stretch to say that Thanksgiving is one of the holidays of ill repute, we can clearly state the historic reason such a day was declared has no meaning for us. Celebrating Gye Nyame does have an historic meaning for Black people. This is an open invitation to the National Black Community to attend, participate and celebrate Gye Nyame, November 23-28, 2011. Visionary Keidi Awadu is leading a delegation of Living in Black KKV from other states. The requested donation to attend and participate is $10.00 per sleep over + $5.00 per meal. We want to change that. Black people must change that. With the land we have a change to get this work done. The Lovely Lawn for Family Outings and Athletic Playground – we have entertained hundreds of children and adults on the very spacious campus of The Nat Turner Library. This may be gone with the land. The Growing of Serious Food for Eating and Conservation – This is last but not only NOT the least, it is the main focus of what we would like to do with the land. And it happens to be the best way to make it profitable in the immediate future: Grow serious food to both feed our people and institute a serious conservation inventory of naturally grown food. Or a marketing plan to sell food, including herbs. And MAN UP GLOBAL ARRIVES Camp for Children and Adults on The Land When Treavor Jaha met the Owner of Khalifah Estates, he understood immediately that a place to house his Camp for boys of color was found...the ensuing 5 years culminated this past August 12, when ―ManUp Day‖ was declared on the 123 acre tract of the Birth Land of Nat Turner. This year Jaha brought 40 young men and mentors, took them through the ―Rite of Passage‖ on the open and wooded Land. Man Up Camp is institutionalized on The Land; open for both boys and adults. KHALIF KHALIFAH: One of the many great things about a long life, you live long enough to see fruits of your labor. In the case of H. Khalif Khalifah, his life as a knowledge merchant, writer, publisher and printer of books, magazines and newspapers, contain the philosophy, opinions, the history and legacy of both the Black Race and the individuals in the Race that recorded it. As such, when the Blackmen and women evolve into their 30’s and early 40’s, many make it a point to find him, and otherwise bear witness to the systems that they were educated on: Khalifah stands almost singular in that he published 3 of the 4 most important, popular, important and best selling books of all time in Black America: ’The Mis-Education of the Negro,” “The Message to the Blackman” and “Stolen Legacy.” The fourth of the essential books for Black people who are serious about learning the entire history of The Race is ―The Destruction of Black Civilization.‖ It was written by Dr. Chancellor Williams and published by Third World Press. UMAR JOHNSON LECTURE IN N.N., VA. RECEPTION AFTERWARDS AT UBUS BOOKS & THINGS PLUS By Nadirah and H. K. Khalifah December 17, 2011 NEWPORT NEWS, VA – Saturday December 17 was vintage 1996 when UBUS Books & Things, in Hampton, Virginia was a touchstone for Black Culture, Political, Health, Education as well as a business expression. Saturday, December 18 was essentially the introduction of Part Two: The Best of the former was on full display as Dr. Umar Abdullah Johnson was warmly received at a reception, after his lecture, at the New UBUS Books Plus, retail complex. UBUS Books & Things Plus is located at 2005 Martin Luther King Jr. Blvd, rather than Hampton, as was the original ―Books & Things,‖ but that may have been the only fact that distinguished the two - At the least for one day. FULL HOUSE, LIBRARY & AT UBUS RECEPTION The full house at the N. N. Main Street Library followed the Owner of the former store to the New Store. The Managing Partner of the New UBUS BOOKS & THINGS is Terrance Moore-EL. He, his wife, and staff received the caravan like honored royalty: delicious, wholesome food for the body, washed down with Coconut water was served. The ―food for the mind‖ was equally wholesome: that was the some 1,000 books & posters on display in the spacious store that were ―written by, for or about Black people.‖ Healthy foods advocate, Jehuti MAAT-Ra & Dr. Umar Johnson mingled freely amongst the adoring standing room only crowd, a good mixture of local residents, as well as folk who’d came from as far away as Charlotte, N.C. and Washington, D. C. to hear, touch and feel the latest, hottest, and many feel the greatest, young Scholar in America today. Both Guest Speakers did a masterful job of educating the crowd about good physical health (MAAT); and a combination of the two by Dr. Johnson. The Lecture was sponsored by a former basketball star in Newport News Public Schools: Sister Karen, who was given needed support by her two Sisters. The overflowing audience at both places included one of the legends in the area, Sister Opal Bilal, a multi-talented personality in her own right; in addition she was the founding News Reporter and assistant for The Newport News, a newspaper founded by H. Khalif Khalifah as he settled in the Tidewater area 1978-2000. One of Khalifah’s best friends, Nathaniel Bracey, and his youngest daughter Nadirah, with Grandson Heru were present. Long before Widower Khalifah singled parented three of his daughters, Nathaniel Bracey was an example that it could be done; his daughter Khadijah Bracey was a student at Harambee Home school, a wholly owned, one room concept school of UBUS COMMUNICATIONS SYSTEMS, the business parent of it all.
