In a locked chest in the dusty attic of Castle Eulenstein lives
little Ghost. At the stroke of midnight little Ghost wakes up
and happily haunts the castle. It has been like this for as long
as little Ghost can remember. But his greatest wish is to see
the world in daylight, just once. How can he make his wish
come true? And what will the townsfolk make of a ghost in
the daytime?

Georges (the s is silent) has a lot going on.
He’s having trouble with some boys at school,
his dad lost his job and so his mum has
started working all the time – and they had to
sell their house and move into an apartment.
Jonathan is in terrible danger. After his home is
attacked by faceless monsters in bowler hats, he
wakes up in the strange village of Hobbes End.
Built by a fallen angel and hidden deep within a
forest, Hobbes End protects those who need to
be safe – and nobody is more in need of
protection than Jonathan.
Aided by a vicar with a broken heart, a big man with
a cricket bat and a very rude cat, Jonathan races to
find Gabriel’s Clock – the backdoor key to Heaven
itself. If he doesn’t find it then his family and friends
may die, but, if he does, then he may start a war
between Heaven and Hell that could engulf them all.

THE BOY ON THE PORCH
THE COMPANY OF GHOSTS
Sharon Creech
Berlie Doherty
A poignant and moving story in which Carnegie
Medal winner Sharon Creech reminds us of the
surprising relationships that can bloom when
generosity and unconditional love prevail.
A beautiful, haunting ghost story from the
award-winning Berlie Doherty.
It was a seascape, moody with rocks and cliffs and
wild showers of spray. Ellie’s own reflection was
drawn into it, like a ghost image among the lights
and shadows.
‘That’s our island,’ Morag said.
‘It looks mysterious.’
‘It is.That’s where we’re going tomorrow.’
A young couple wake up to find a strange boy asleep on
their porch. At first they don’t expect him to stay, but stay
he does, and as the couple’s connection to him grows, the
three of them blossom into an unlikely family. But where
has he come from and to whom does he belong?
Ellie is excited to be going with Morag’s family
to their beautiful island, but when she finds
herself abandoned there, things begin to change.
Footsteps, shadows, strange lights, a haunting
song; more and more she becomes aware that
she is not really on her own.
