THE OFFENSE
GENERAL NOTES
WHO’S BACK ON OFFENSE?
Seven of Morehead State’s 11 probable starters on offense have
collegiate game experience. Junior running back Rees Macshara,
a First-Team All-Pioneer Football League selection in 2012, is the
group’s top returnee. Senior offensive lineman Kalvin Harrington
was an Honorable Mention All-PFL choice last year.
MOREHEAD STATE’S 84TH SEASON
The 2013 season marks Morehead State’s 84th with a varsity
football team. The program began in 1927, and the Eagles have
fielded a team every year with the exception of 1943-45.
THE NEW MAN IN CHARGE
Rob Tenyer was introduced as the 14th head football coach
in Morehead State history on Dec. 13, 2012. He had previously
served as an assistant coach at MSU for 12 seasons, including the
past two as offensive coordinator.
SURPASSING 1,000 YARDS
Rees Macshara became Morehead State’s first 1,000-yard rusher
since 2000 last year. He finished the season with 173 carries for
1,013 yards and six touchdowns on the ground. Macshara also
caught 39 passes for 307 yards.
NEW ASSISTANT COACHES, TOO
Eight of Morehead State’s 10 assistant coaches are new to the
program. Patrick St. Louis and Brett Rude are the only assistants
with previous experience at MSU.
LEADING THE LEAGUE
Morehead State led the Pioneer Football League in six major
offensive categories a season ago, including points (38.4), total
yards (471.5), passing yards (305.4) and fewest sacks allowed (1.00)
per game. The Eagles also paced the conference in third-down
(51.0 percent) and red-zone (88.4 percent) conversions.
TALKING HOME ATTENDANCE
Morehead State led the Pioneer Football League in attendance
last season with 4,379 fans per game. The Eagles have now led the
conference in that category five straight years.
TOP 10 IN THE NATION
Morehead State ranked sixth in the Football Championship
Subdivision last year in points, total yards and third-down
conversions. The Eagles also placed eighth in passing yards.
BRING ON THE POSTSEASON
For the first time ever, the Pioneer Football League’s 2013
champion will gain access to the NCAA Division I Football
Championship through an automatic bid. The spot came about
when the NCAA Board of Directors approved a budget that
allowed expansion of the national tournament to 24 teams.
THESE GUYS WERE PRETTY GOOD
Morehead State is looking to fill holes left by quarterback Zach
Lewis and wide receiver Donte Sawyer, who combined on 12
school records a season ago. Lewis, who is now a student assistant
coach, completed 936-of-1,499 attempts for 10,251 yards and 72
touchdowns (all career records). Sawyer pulled in 199 catches for
2,555 yards and 24 scores (all career records).
ROLLING IN THE OPENERS
Morehead State is opening the season with an NAIA opponent for
the third consecutive year. The Eagles drilled Kentucky Christian
(67-0) in 2011 and blanked Southern Virginia (55-0) in 2012.

ROB TENYER -- first season as head coach -- 13th season at Morehead State
0-0 (.000) record as head coach -- 67-69 (.492) as assistant coach at MSU
Rob Tenyer was named the 14th head football coach in Morehead State history on Dec. 13, 2012. He had previously served as an assistant
coach at MSU for 12 seasons.
Tenyer served as Morehead State’s offensive coordinator in 2011 and 2012 after four seasons as recruiting coordinator. He coached running
backs all 12 years as an assistant coach, in addition to stints as receivers coach, strength & conditioning coordinator and equipment coordinator.
Tenyer has 15 years of collegiate recruiting experience, including 12 at the Division I level. He was also the football staff’s academic liaison in
2011 and 2012, where he annually monitored and assisted 100+ student-athletes in their pursuit of degrees at Morehead State.
In Tenyer’s two years as a coordinator, the Eagle offense set 29 school records. He also worked with MSU’s special teams, where seven
university standards were established in 2012.
The Morehead State offense paced the Pioneer Football League in five statistical categories in 2011 and six in 2012. The Eagles led the PFL in
points, total yards and passing yards both campaigns.
Tenyer was on the staff for four consecutive PFL South Division championships from 2002-05, when the Eagles posted a 31-16 record. He also
helped MSU to a school-record-tying nine wins in 2002.
Tenyer has mentored 26 All-PFL selections at MSU, including 18 on offense. Mason Webb
(2008), Jabari McGee (2006) and Eli Parks (2005) each picked up All-America honors during his
watch.
Tenyer joined the Morehead State staff after serving as an assistant coach at Centre College
(Ky.) from 1998-2000 and graduate assistant at California University (Pa.) from 1996-97. He also
worked as a player/coach with a professional team in Landsberg, Germany, in 1996.
A football, basketball and baseball star growing up, Tenyer graduated from Marine City High
School (Mich.). He was an all-league selection in all three sports and was inducted into his alma
mater’s Hall of Fame in 2010.
Tenyer earned a bachelor’s degree from Olivet College (Mich.) in 1995 and master’s degree
from MSU in 2007. At Olivet, he was a four-year letterwinner at quarterback. He also served as
team captain his senior year.
Tenyer has worked several notable camps in the states of Alabama, California, Georgia,
Illinois, Kentucky, Michigan, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Texas. He is also a member of the American
Football Coaches Association.
He is married to the former Jane Kelly, an MSU graduate who is the university’s assistant
director of fitness, wellness & student development. The couple has one daughter, Brooke.
