Activities Updates
If you plan to ride the bus to New York City on Nov. 14th to see Wicked, your $125 payment is due by May 13. This event is sold out but there is a standby list (in case folks don’t pay on time). There is only room for one (1) more couple to follow the leader on the 2015 Mystery Trip (Oct. 05‐11). Contact Jeff Mohring (610‐392‐6898) to participate. A trip to Longwood Gardens is being planned by Joanne Warmkessel. The date and itinerary have not been final‐

2015 Club Charities Announced
Wed., Apr. 25 | President Jeff Mohring announced the results of voting for AACC’s charities for 2015. Of the 13 local charities on the ballot, these five received the highest number of votes: PA Wounded Warriors Inc.— Offers support and financial assistance to PA wounded veterans and their families, in‐
cluding home repairs, utility payments, short‐term rent/mortgage payments, medical bills, and medical eqt. not cov‐
ered under govt. programs. Second Harvest Food Bank — Helps thousands of people who are struggling to put food on the table throughout their six‐county service area. Last year, 7 million pounds of food were distributed to over 69,000 needy neighbors. Cancer Support Community of Greater Lehigh Valley — Provides free programs of emotional and social support, edu‐
cation and wellness activities to people with cancer and their families, friends and caregivers. The aim is for people af‐
fected by cancer to lean ways to regain control, reduce stress and isolation, and restore a sense of hope for a better quality of life. St. Luke’s Cancer Compassion Fund — Provides support to oncology patients going through cancer treatments. Hope for Veterans — Helps homeless veterans and their families in PA/NJ area with housing searches, assistance with landlord disputes, support services, employment services, linkages to community resources, and temporary financial assistance. Also offers housing where veterans can reside for up to two years while rebuilding their lives. The club will donate $600 to each of the above named charities. A special thanks to Sandi, Brian, Sam , and Ed from Faulkner Chevy for each donating $100 to bring the PA Wounded Warriors total donation up to $1,000! Springfest Is Coming!

of photos since joining the club in 2000, but we haven’t even
seen many from before that time.

Guide and on the website. I’m also thinking that they might
be useful in preparing something for the club’s 50th anniversary, which isn’t all that far away...

Sat., Jun. 13 | AACC partners with Faulkner Chevy‐Cadillac for their 4th Annual Car Show. This event runs from 9am‐3pm, is open to ALL vehicles and is free to attend! Faulkner will provide a DJ and trophies. AACC will handle day‐of‐show registration and parking. Food will be available. Sun., Jul. 12 | AACC active and potential members are invited to display their Corvettes at the Naval Reserve OTC Family Day (1400 Postal Rd., Allentown, PA). Celebrating the 100th Anni‐
versary of the Naval Reserves, this event from 10:30am—3:00pm will be a special time. Re‐
servists and their family members will award two trophies. Attendance is free and a compli‐
mentary lunch is included; however, you must pre‐register with Marianne Mosher at a club meeting (610‐554‐1401, [email protected]). Martin Guitar Tour

Fri., Apr. 10 | About 30 club members met at Martin Guitar for a tour of the factory and lunch at Mivajos afterward. There were two groups of 15 who took the tour. It was very interesting and informative. All of the handcrafting involved in making the guitars is quite impressive. There were many different stations of people doing very intricate work as our guide took us through the plant. He said about 20,000 people a year take the tour. That means if you work there, you are on display a lot. After the tour we checked out the gift shop and the Martin Guitar Museum. The group then headed over to Mivajos for lunch. Corvette Judging 101
Sat., Apr. 11 | Spring has Sprung and AACC is getting into Springfest spirit. A judging clinic was held Saturday afternoon in the service arrival area at Faulkner Chevy (Bethlehem, PA). Rick Serfass put on a very informative presentation of what to look for when judging the Corvettes at Springfest. For those of us not judging, it also provided a guideline for detailing our cars. Stroudsmoor Country Inn
Sun., Apr. 19 | A large group of Corvettes and their respective owners met at the Park & Ride to caravan up to the Stroudsmoor Country Inn for their American Harvest Buffet. When we arrived at Stroudsmoor, we met with a smaller group of members who were already on site. In all, about 35 Corvettes were parked in the lot — everything from Rick and Bonnie Serfass's 1960 to two 2015 Z06s. The buffet included soup, salads, shrimp, fish, pasta, an assortment of meats, and dessert. If you did not get enough to eat, it must have been your strong willpower, because it surely was not for a lack of choices. After lunch, some members took the more scenic (and fun) drive south along Route 191. A good time was had by all. speed automatic transmission that offers quick shifts on par with the world’s best dual‐clutch transmissions – delivered with the smoothness unique to a transmission with a torque converter. Corvette Stingray’s powertrain enables manual‐transmission Z51‐equipped models able to accelerate from 0‐60 in 3.8 seconds – 3.7 seconds with the eight‐speed automatic – and run the quarter‐mile in 12 seconds at 119 mph, while the Corvette’s chassis and suspension features contribute to 1.03g in cornering grip and stop from 60 mph in 107 feet. The Corvette Stingray backs its performance capability with the greatest efficiency of any sports car on the market with more than 450 horsepower, delivering an EPA‐estimated 17 mpg city driving and 29 mpg on the highway with the seven‐speed manual transmission. Corvette Stingray is offered in 1LT, 2LT and 3LT trim levels. Corvette Stingray Design Corvette Stingray’s provocative exterior styling is as functional as it is elegant. It makes a bold design statement that embraces the advanced technology of the car, while enhancing its overall performance in everything from the wind tunnel to the track. All Corvette Stingray models with the Z51 Performance Package feature integral coolers for the rear differential and transmission (the transmission cooler is also included with the optional automatic transmission). For coupe models, the air intakes are integrated on the rear quarter panels; and on convertible models, the air intakes are integrated into the underbody. Airflow through the differential and transmission heat exchangers exits through the aircraft‐inspired taillamp vents and lower‐rear fascia air outlets. The Z51 Performance Package also includes brake‐cooling ducts, a unique rear spoiler and additional air deflectors for enhanced track capability. Additional exterior features include:  Heated outside mirrors are standard on all trim levels and a driver’s auto‐dimming outside mirror is standard on 2LT and 3LT trims  Removable carbon fiber roof panel (body color) is standard on all coupes; a transparent roof panel is available  Visible carbon fiber roof panel is available on 2LT and 3LT  Dual roof packages including solid and transparent removable roof panels are available on 2LT and 3LT coupes; 

Every feature and detail is designed to enhance the driver’s connection to the Corvette, starting with the fighter jet‐inspired wraparound cockpit and continuing with supportive seats and high‐definition, configurable screens. A comparatively small, 14.1‐inch‐diameter (360 mm) steering wheel – with a new flat‐bottom design – fosters a more direct, immediate feel to directional inputs. The frame structure for both seats is made of magnesium for greater strength. Driver‐Oriented Technologies At the core of the Corvette Stingray’s driver‐focused technologies is the cockpit‐mounted Driver Mode Selector, which allows drivers to optimize the car for their driving preference and road conditions via five settings: Weather, Eco, Tour, Sport and Track. The Tour mode is the default setting for everyday driving; Weather mode is designed primarily for added confidence while driving in rain and snow; Eco mode is for achieving optimal fuel economy; Sport mode is for spirited road driving and Track mode is for track use. Up to 12 performance parameters are adjusted with the selection of each mode, including:  Gauge cluster configuration: The Tour, Eco and Weather modes feature displays for trip data, audio and naviga‐
tion; Sport mode shows classic, easy‐to‐read sports car gauges; and Track mode’s configuration shows a gauge design based on the Corvette Racing race car display with lap timer  ETC (Electronic Throttle Control): Adjusts the throttle input curve for the selected mode for improved respon‐

enhance audible feedback from the V‐8 depending on the drive mode Electronic limited‐slip differential (Z51): Adjusts the rate at which the limited slip engages, to balance between steering response and stability in different driving conditions; more aggressive performance in Sport and Track modes Steering: Assist effort is adjusted in the modes to provide the driver with the correct steering feel for the driving condition Magnetic Ride Control: Adjusts shock damping based on road conditions, from optimized comfort to perform‐
ance driving Launch control: Available in Track mode for manual and automatic transmissions, providing maximum off‐the‐
line acceleration Active handling (StabiliTrak stability control): A “competitive” setting is available in Track mode and is more suited for on‐track conditions. It can also be disabled, giving the driver complete control Traction control: Weather mode tailors traction control and engine torque for driving in inclement conditions Performance Traction Management: Available in Track mode and offers five settings of torque reduction and brake intervention for track driving. Three configurable displays, including a pair of eight‐inch screens and color head‐up display, deliver personalized infor‐
mation and convey the different performance parameters of each drive mode. The two eight‐inch screens offer excellent visibility in direct sunlight, with 650 cd/m2 of brightness for the one inte‐
grated into the instrument cluster and 1,000 cd/m2 of brightness for the one in the center stack, making them among the brightest screens in the industry. The screen in the center stack also features touch‐screen control with gesture recognition and can be lowered to reveal a hidden storage compartment that includes a USB input for device charging or uploads. Performance and efficiency The LT1 is offered with an all‐new seven‐speed manual transmission with Active Rev Matching. It incorporates rev‐
matching technology for upshifts and downshifts. This driver‐selectable feature can be easily engaged or disengaged via paddles on the steering wheel. The seven‐speed is used with a new dual‐mass flywheel and dual‐disc clutch, which deliver greater shift quality and feel through lower inertia. The transmission with the Z51 Performance Package in‐
cludes specific close‐ratio gearing for more aggressive driving. An available eight‐speed paddle‐shift automatic transmission, designed and built by GM, delivers world‐class shift times that rival the best dual‐clutch designs. Its availability makes Corvette Stingray one of the few sports cars to offer a conventional manual transmission and an eight‐speed automatic. Page 15

Fri., Apr. 24 | Chevrolet today introduced the 2016 Corvette Z06 C7.R Edition – a road‐going, track‐capable homage to the Corvette Racing C7.R racecars. It’s offered in Corvette Racing’s signature yellow livery – or black – with coordinated exterior and interior accents. Only 500 examples of the C7.R Edition will be built when they go on sale later this year – and all will include the Z07 Performance Package with carbon ceramic brakes, as well as a specially serialized vehicle identification number. “Corvette Racing’s legacy and technology were significant influences on the development of the Corvette Z06 and the new C7.R Edition honors the very direct link between the racecar and the production model,” said Harlan Charles, Cor‐

NCCC Partners with NCM and Motorsports Park
Apr. 02 | The National Council of Corvette Clubs has stepped forward to sponsor a garage at the NCM Motorsports Park and will be hosting their first event at the Museum and track Memorial Day week‐
end. "Having a sponsorship of a garage at the track is a great way to get our name out in front of Corvette owners who like to have fun with their car," NCCC President Dave Heinemann said. "We use the car, not just show it. I see this as a col‐
laboration and an opportunity for not only us to grow our membership, but for the Museum to grow theirs as well." The NCCC is comprised of nearly 300 Corvette clubs totaling over 17,000 members in the U.S. and is the largest non‐
profit, all volunteer Corvette organization in the country. Membership for the NCCC is $35 the first year, and $25 re‐
newal annually. Museum Received Three Awards

site, NCM Motorsports Park; 3rd Place: Newsletters and Magazines, America's Sportscar Magazine. 2019 Caravan Captain Named, Volunteers Sought
Apr. 09 | Hosted only once every five years, the next National Corvette Caravan is slated for Labor Day weekend, Au‐
gust 28‐31, 2019, marking the 25th Anniversary of the Museum. Leading the charge in planning the caravan is Jeffrey Duda of Hainesport, NJ, a Lifetime Member of the Museum and previous co‐captain of the New Jersey 2014 and 2009 Caravans. "As soon as I returned from the 2009 Caravan, I began work on the 2014 NJ Caravan and again I was the Co‐Captain," Jeff said. "The advance planning paid off, as this Caravan was just spectacular with over 3,000 Corvettes from across the world joining the drive to Bowling Green to celebrate the 20th Anniversary of the NCM. It was so much fun plan‐
ning the event and others could see the enthusiasm I had. I was contacted by Paul Mariano, the National Caravan Chairman, and by Karen Renfrow, the Events Manager at the NCM and was asked to become the 2019 Caravan Na‐
tional Charman. It was a task that I was honored and humbled to accept the position," Jeff added. Regional caravans will form and join other caravans as they travel across the United States to meet in Bowling Green, Kentucky for four days of festivities at the National Corvette Museum.
