Description
This two-storey double-brick
structure is an exceptional
example of a composite style:
Georgian Style with later
Victorian and Edwardian
additions.
A one-and-a-half-storey crossgabled brick structure with a
T-plan and a large one-storey
kitchen wing at the rear. The
front wing was originally
flanked by hipped-roof
verandahs on each side. The
west side verandah, shown in
an old photograph, appears to
have been screened.
Built between 1905 and1907
by W. D. Flatt as a summer
home, this Craftsman-style
lakeside cottage has been
exceptionally well-preserved
by a single family for more
than 80 years. The cottage is
an outstanding example of
Burlington's early years as a
summer community and its
subsequent development.

bungalow. The lower level is
clad with brick; the gable
ends with wooden shingles.
The original front door has a
multi-paned glass panel.
A one-&-a-half-storey brick

DESCRIPTION
A large 1 ½ storey Craftsman
Style cobblestone bungalow.
The gable roof extends
forward to become the roof of
the partial verandah
supported by a heavy
cobblestone pillar. A massive
cobblestone chimney breaks
the front elevation.
11,000 square foot, 3-storey
limestone structure. Classical
influence is seen in the
Tuscan columns on the east
and south elevations and the
scroll pediment above the
west entrance. Classical
features combine with aspects
of avant-garde 1930s design in
the asymmetry of four
elevations, each with a
distinct character. Although
some maintenance has been
deferred, the wood trim is all
original. Interior features such
as the original screened
panels in the lower hall, the
dining room mural, the
original lighting fixtures, the
staircase, and the ceramic
tiles.

DESCRIPTION
This cottage has narrow
horizontal siding. A rusticated
concrete block foundation
supports the frame structure.
The character of the c.1910
home is enhanced by the
cobblestone wall surrounding
the porch and the octagonal
column which supports the
overhanging roof. The home is
L-shaped resulting from the
porch area, enhanced by the
gable end roof which is
broken centrally on both the
front and rear facades with
dormers.
7,200 square foot one-storey
building - While it looks
similar to the three other
Burlington fire stations, Fire
Station No. 8 will be the first
to achieve LEED (Leadership
in Energy and Environmental
De-sign) Silver certification
for its environmentally
sensitive construction
features, such as, a high
efficient building.
16 storey building with 210
suites including some
live/work units, some Energy
Star appliances, and

Property History
& Description
A 1 ½ storey English Tudor
Revival Style structure. The
high-pitched truncated hipped
roof, with thatched-look
rolled asphalt shingles, is said
to be an authentic post-&beam timber structure, not
the standard balloon frame.
A 1 ½ storey brick structure
with a low gabled roof. The
design is Classical Revival with
a Federal influence derived
from American postrevolution.
It is anticipated that the
arena will achieve
approximately 29 credits
under the LEED New
Construction guideline. The
mechanical and electrical
design of the building has
allowed an energy savings of
25% above what is required by
ASHRAE 90.1-1999.

DESCRIPTION
Dressed-stone, 2-storey
structure, Georgian style, low
truncated hipped roof,
rectangular divided transom &
sidelights.
Built in 1867-8 at a cost of
$1500, this is a very fine
example of a simple 1-storey
front-gabled brick church. Its
outstanding design features
are the large gothic arched
windows with interlocking
stone mullions, & wellproportioned brick mouldings
above each window.
An excellent example of a 1 ½
storey, 3-bay Ontario
vernacular farmhouse with
both Regency & Gothic
elements. The red Flemish
bond brick building has a lowpitched roof with a centre
gable & projecting eaves.
The property supports a 1 ½
storey red brick clad
farmhouse built in a bungalow
style there is also a drive
shed, a timber frame bank
barn with concrete silo,
modern metal clad barn, &
small windmill on the
property.
