CAPITAL MARKETS DAY
Will Ashby – Houston CityWest
TGS hosted its 2013 Capital Markets Day on 23 May at the Grange
City Hotel in London. The objective of this investor relations event was
to enhance relationships with existing TGS shareholders and industry
analysts through the provision of information on our business, financial
performance, strategy and technology. The event is also an opportunity
to introduce new institutional investors and analysts to TGS. Over the
course of the afternoon TGS management presented various topics
including an insight into the global nature of our business, TGS’ focus
on quality (quality investments, quality data and quality people) and an
introduction to onshore multi-client seismic. A guest speaker, David
Bamford (non-executive Director of Tullow Oil and previously a Vice
President at BP with responsibility for directing their global exploration
program) presented a customer’s view on why oil companies are “hooked
on seismic”.
This is the first time that TGS has hosted a Capital Markets Day in London.
Will Ashby, Director Investor Relations and M&A, commented that, “It
was a bit of a risk holding this event in London as more shareholders
and analysts who follow our stock are based in Norway. However, we
were successful in persuading a significant number of people to travel
from Norway while also welcoming a large number of new faces from
the London investment community. We actually achieved our highest
ever attendance for a Capital Markets Day with over 100 institutional
investors and analysts joining either in person or via live webcast.”

GRANT-A-STARR FUN RUN
Trevor Crossland – Houston CityWest
This year marked the 5th Annual Grant-A-Starr Foundation Family
Fun Run with the largest turn out ever. More than 750 attendees
enjoyed a cool spring morning in Sugar Land, Texas; including 525
runners/walkers, 125 student volunteers and over 100 other individuals
showing their support. The Fun Run is unique in that it is organized
and managed by students from local high schools who are dedicated
to teamwork, community service and philanthropy.
TGS had two teams participate in the “Corporate Challenge” event
during the Fun Run this year. One of the TGS teams earned 3rd place,
while the Texas Children’s Hospital team took 1st place and the
HexaGroup team walked away with 2nd place.
The Fun Run raised over $28,000 in donations this year. During the
post-race ceremony, the Grant-A-Starr Foundation donated $25,000
each to Texas Children’s Hospital and Children’s Memorial Herman
Hospital to support critical diagnostic testing projects. With these latest
donations, the Grant-A-Starr Foundation has raised and contributed
$725,000 towards the advancement of diagnostic testing to help save
children’s lives. Congratulations to our 3rd place team and thank you
to everyone who participated.
To learn more about the foundation, visit www.grantastarr.org.
Feedback from the attendees has been extremely positive. Will Ashby
highlighted that, “The success of the event was largely due to the
significant efforts made by representatives from across the TGS
business with staff from Houston, Norway, London, Perth and Canada
all contributing both in front of the camera and behind the scenes. We
once again demonstrated that TGS is a great Company with the very
best people.”
A recording of Capital Markets Day can be accessed here or on the TGS
website in the Investor Relations Zone.

THE “DISASTROS” DEFEND THEIR TITLE
Matt Podraza – Houston CityWest
The Spring TGS Beltway Series has come to a conclusion with moments of outstanding
individual accomplishments, amazingly fierce team competitiveness and humbling
displays of sportsmanship.
After many rounds between “Waz Up”, “Interpret This”, “The DisAstros” and “Mean
Green”, it finally came down to a deciding game between the “DisAstros” with their 3-0
lead and “Interpret This”. The “DisAstros” and “Interpret This” fought back and forth
with each team taking the lead after every half inning. In the second to last inning, the
“DisAstros” took the lead and held onto it, ensuring their championship title.
Congratulations to the “DisAstros” for defending their title and holding onto the Drill Bit
of Destiny. A huge thank you to everyone for participating in a very memorable season,
to the teams that helped with the $400 donation to the Grant-A-Starr Foundation and to
Frank Flannery, Josh Armendariz, Connie Phillips, Peter Hoyt, Mike Jeffers and Matthew
Podraza for coordinating the event.
If you are interested in joining the softball tournament next season, contact Matthew.

ARCIS GIVING BACK –
IT’S ALL ABOUT THE KIDS
Pam Rempel – Arcis, Calgary
Giving back to the communities in which we live and work has always
been one of Arcis’ cornerstone values. One of Arcis’ long-standing
charity partners is Providence, Calgary’s premiere educational and
therapeutic preschool for children with disabilities. Providence
serves over 900 children in the Calgary area and provides an array
of innovative classroom and outreach programs.
Q2 2013
PERTH EASTER RAFFLE
Sandy Dimovich – Perth
On 28 March the Perth office organized an Easter raffle putting all
staff names in a drawing to win an Easter chocolate basket. The lucky
winner this year was Kelly Hillary. Coincidentally it was also Kelly’s
final day at the office so the winning also became a great farewell gift.
The annual Dine & Deals Gala was held in March and raised over
$250,000 for Providence’s capital campaign and programming. As
in past years, Arcis had a strong contingent of volunteers and
attendees. A big thank you to all the Arcis employees who took
part in this event, and to those who continue to participate in other
Arcis charitable initiatives as well.
This year, Brad Torry (former Managing Director, Arcis) stepped down
from his 11-year stint as chairman of Providence’s gala fundraiser
committee. His commitment to Providence’s work has been passed
onto many Arcis employees who participate in initiatives from
school painting to volunteering at events. Katja Akentieva (incoming
Managing Director, Arcis) will be taking up the cause as a committee
member for the organization’s annual Wildcatter Golf Tournament.
Thank you, Brad, Katja, and the rest of the Arcis family for your
commitment to giving back.

PERTH BBQ
Sandy Dimovich – Perth
The TGS Asia Pacific team has grown steadily over the last six months.
To welcome the new employees to the team, the Perth office organized
a picnic and invited staff and their families to share some hospitality
in typical Aussie style – an outdoor BBQ!
The BBQ also served as a great opportunity to welcome Xuening
Ma (Processing Director), who transferred from Houston to Perth in
early March.

SOMETHING’S COOKING
IN MARKETING
Trevor Crossland – Houston CityWest
At the close of their annual offsite meeting the Corporate Marketing
department decided to turn up the heat, in the kitchen that is. This
year the department decided to have a little competition during
their teambuilding dinner by participating in Sur La Table’s cooking
competition.

IMAGING CRAWFISH BOIL
Sierra McClain – Houston CityWest
The Second Annual Imaging Services Crawfish Boil was held in
early May at Ragin’ Cajun Restaurant in Houston. In addition to
tasty mudbugs and camaraderie, there were prize giveaways and a
game show style faceoff in which managers represented their team
members in a race to name as many clients as possible in a 30-second
period. Andy Hokanson (represented by his manager, Zhiqiang Guo)
won the grand prize of a Visa gift card. Congratulations, Andy!
After splitting up into teams everyone enjoyed stirring, sifting and
searing their way to a fantastic dinner and a great teambuilding
experience. Check out the quarterly recipe to get a taste of some
of the great flavors from the evening.

CELEBRATING 1 MILLION LAS
ON A HIGH NOTE
Alisa Wade – Houston North
On 19 April Houston North celebrated reaching the landmark of
completing the one millionth LAS file. The group gathered at H&H
Ranch in Houston, TX and enjoyed crawfish in celebration. One of the
event’s main highlights was the TGS Idol Karaoke contest. Fifteen
competitors sang their hearts out and put on a fantastic show. Winners
were chosen by a vote of their peers and received a Pappa’s Restaurant
or Shell gift card for their performance.
The male winner was Marcos Calderon (Well Data Sourcing) whose
velvet pipes belted out “Unchained Melody”. The female winner was
Victoria Reyes (Production) singing “What’s Love Got to Do with It”.
The duo winners Victor Ojeda and Jackie Willis (Customer Support)
left the ladies of the crowd swooning with their soulful rendition of
“Me and Mrs. Jones”.
In addition to the karaoke contest, the group danced to the beats
provided by DJ’s Unlimited, played volleyball, horse shoes and just had
a great time socializing!

HR CORNER
Dara Gernand – Houston CityWest
Myra Burke – Houston CityWest
Recycling saves resources, prevents pollution, supports public health and
creates jobs. It saves money, avoids landfills and best of all, it’s easy. To
understand the value of recycling, we must look at the entire lifecycle
of a product. Recycling creates a closed-loop system where unwanted
products are returned back to manufacturers for use in new products.
In an effort to reinforce culture and values, as well as to create
consistency amongst offices, TGS has created a global service award
policy. This policy helps to ensure that all TGS employees are rewarded
equitably and similarly for their service to the Company.
Recycling Saves Energy
By recycling 30% of waste every year, you can save the equivalent of
11.9 billion gallons of gasoline and reduce the greenhouse gas equivalent
of taking 25 million cars off the road.
Recycling Prevents Pollution
When recycled materials are used in place of virgin materials during
manufacturing, we avoid the environmental damage caused by mining
for metals, drilling for petroleum and harvesting trees.
Producing recycled white paper creates 74% less air pollution and 35%
less water pollution than producing paper from virgin fibers. Using
recycled cans instead of extracting ore to make aluminum cans produces
95% less air pollution and 97% less water pollution.*
Management has selected gifts for each milestone accomplishment
that reflects the Company and employees will be recognized during
quarterly employee meetings. Although the service award policy has
been standardized, recognition may vary culturally and by location.

paper to the nearest recycling receptacle.

IMAGING CORNER
Simon Baldock – Houston CityWest
Recently TGS launched Clari-Fi™ Amplio and Clari-Fi™ Totus, two
distinct methodologies for enhancing the bandwidth of a range of
seismic data types.
Clari-Fi Totus addresses the source and receiver ghosts and Clari-Fi
Amplio broadens the spectrum to a desired shape up to the first ghost
notch frequency.
TGS’ proprietary Clari-Fi imaging technique represents a robust yet
flexible methodology which allows broadband pre-stack seismic data
to be generated from conventionally acquired seismic data; e.g. using
single sensor streamers towed at a constant depth.

Spam mail is a frustrating problem for most employees, however,
there are two simple steps to help minimize the amount of spam
emails you receive in your TGS mailbox.
First, select the spam email and forward it to [email protected].
Second, right-click on the spam
message, scroll down to the “Junk”
menu and then select “Block
Sender”.

COMPLIANCE CORNER
Gena Glover – Houston CityWest
TGS implements internal controls in order to manage risks and ensure
internal operations work the way they’re supposed to. One such policy
recently enacted by the Company is the Contract Signature Process.
The Contract Signature Process is available on the Compliance intranet
site (http://compliance). The policy covers all types of contracts – for
example: license agreements, vendor contracts, consulting agreements,
confidentiality agreements – and establishes which TGS entity should
enter into the contract and who can sign on behalf of that entity. If you
are tasked with negotiating a contract on behalf of TGS, please be sure
to read the process for guidance.
If you have any questions regarding TGS’ compliance program or internal
control procedures, please feel free to contact Gena Glover, Corporate
Compliance Director, at [email protected] or +1 713 860 2109.
MARKETING CORNER
Marla Wunderlich – Houston CityWest
Digital devices are being used more than ever in the workplace. This shift
has opened new opportunities for TGS to market products and services.
TGS’ Corporate Marketing department is expanding the Company’s
promotional mix to include interactive digital ads. The ads allow viewers
to interact with the information in ways that are impossible with
traditional print ads. Viewers can zoom into or scroll content, images
or maps. The ads can link to the TGS website or specific landing pages
that contain even more information related to the content in the ads.
So far, these ads have been placed on GeoExpro’s App.

Q2 2013
QUARTERLY RECIPE –
PARMESAN-HERB POPOVERS
Trevor Crossland – Houston CityWest
Ingredients
1 cup (8 ounces) whole milk
2 large eggs
2 tablespoons (1 ounce) unsalted butter, melted
1 cup (5 ounces) unbleached all-purpose flour
¼ teaspoon salt
¼ cup (1 ounce) freshly grated Parmesan cheese
1 teaspoon finely chopped fresh rosemary
Instructions
1.Preheat the oven to 450°F and position an oven rack in the center.
Lightly coat the muffin pan with melted butter, oil or high-heat canolaoil spray. Once the oven is fully heated, heat the prepared muffin pan in
the oven for seven minutes.
2.In a medium bowl, whisk together the milk, eggs, melted butter, flour
and salt until well blended. Add the cheese and rosemary and blend.
3.Use a spatula to scrape the batter into the measuring cup. Remove the
pan from the oven and close the oven door. Divide the batter evenly
among the prepared cups. Return the pan to the oven and bake for
15 minutes. Turn the oven down to 400°F and continue to bake for 15
minutes, until the popovers are puffed and deep golden brown. Cool
the pan on a rack for a couple of minutes. Remove popovers from the
pan with a spoon or small offset spatula and serve hot.
Storing
Popovers do not hold or store well, so plan on enjoying them when they
are fresh from the oven. If they have cooled, reheat them briefly in a
350°F oven for five to 10 minutes, until warm.
