Thornton Named 'Sharks Player of the Year' For Third Time
Joe Thornton has been selected as the Sharks Foundation "Sharks Player of
the Year" for 2015-16 in a vote by the Bay Area media. The award is given to
the player contributing most to the success of the Sharks in the 2015-16

The award will be presented prior to tonight's game against the Arizona

It is the third time Thornton has been named "Sharks Player of the Year."
Thornton was also named "Sharks Player of the Year" in 2005-06 and 2006-07.
Thornton has posted 81 points (19 goals, 62 assists) and a +25 rating in 81
games this season. Along with ranking 1st on the Sharks in assists and points,
Thornton currently ranks 2nd in the NHL in assists, T-4th in points, and 5th in

fourth meeting of the season between these two
rivals…Mar. 29, 2016 at SAP Center: Joe Thornton
scored the game-winning goal on the power-play,
Justin Braun registered his first career two-goal

On top of his numerous accolades from this season, Thornton has surpassed
historical milestones and placed himself in the company of NHL Hall-of-Famers. He currently ranks 14th on the NHL's all-time assists list with 963 assists,
and 28th on the all-time points list with 1,340 points accumulated over his
