ABOUT ROSSITER
Forty years ago George Rossiter had a dream. He wanted to build boats.
Not just any boat but the finest boats he could imagine. He didn't want to
go into medicine like his parents or into business like his friends, he wanted
to build boats. And stubbornly that's what he did. He
started out building wooden rowing boats, not the little
punts that others did, but sleek, stream-lined rowing boats
in which a person could find both fitness and peace.
George went on to study Marine Architecture and the
boats evolved into the ultimate in beauty and function.
From the original wooden boats he moved to fiberglass for
the hull and teak to accent the topsides and interiors. He
built hydro-dynamic, smooth-in-the-water boats. And he
added innovations that others have since tried to copy.
He built his boats by hand and sold them one at a time.
Slowly, over the years, more and more Rossiter Boats
found their way on to waterways across the continent and
around the world. And people came to recognize and trust
them for their quality, performance and craftsmanship.
In 1993, Scott Hanson had a dream. He left big business and he and his wife
Cindy moved to Kennebunkport, Maine where he enrolled in the celebrated
Landing School of Boat Building and Design. There he learned the most upto-date design and building techniques. Scott graduated with honors in
Yacht Design and Boat Building.
In 2007 George and Scott met and a new chapter in the Rossiter story
began. Scott and Cindy bought Rossiter Boats assuring George that his
legacy was in capable hands.
Under Scott's direction, Rossiter quickly outgrew the original shop and the
business moved to a 92,000 sq.ft. state-of-the-art plant where the tradition
of craftsmanship continues - still one boat at a time.
George's fiberglass rowing boat, The Loudon, was and continues to be our most popular
rowing boat. Over the years we have added Whitehall designs, the Pocket Skiff, Tenders
and the Wee Skiff to our line up. And we purchased the production rights and enhanced
the molds for the popular Laser Sport Shell.
Encouraged by Rossiter rowing enthusiasts and his cottage friends George designed his
first powerboat many years ago - the legendary Rossiter 14 - with all the innovation and skill
he had brought to all his boats and everyone who has driven one agrees, “It really is a
Rossiter.”
This success led customers and marine owners to encourage Scott to design larger
outboards. After listening to boaters' needs and wish lists, painstakingly reviewing all the
competitors' offerings and talking to other designers, Scott took the plunge and the
Rossiter 17 Classic Runabout and Center Console were born in 2010 and the Rossiter 23 in
2013.
George's legacy, Scott's knowledge and skill, the best boat designers, the latest computerenhanced design and 3D modeling were put to work.
The Rossiter 23 Closed Deck Runabout was launched in 2013. Again, the response was
immediate, “it’s amazing.” “we’re so excited.” “stop teasing us.”
So now, with Scott firmly at the helm, Rossiter has entered a new era. Our rowing and
power boats can be found on both sides of the Atlantic, from coast to coast and from the
Great Lakes to Florida where they are instantly accorded top-of-the-line status in quality, fit
and performance at boat shows and out on the water.
With our always expanding dealer network in place and owner accolades every time a boat
is delivered, the tradition continues.
“It's not just a boat. It's a Rossiter.”

LOUDON 17'
There are rowing boats that simply get you from here to there. But there is
only one that is capable of lighting up your soul. The Loudon from
Rossiter has been crafted to set people free. It moves through the water
smoothly and sleekly, almost like a racing shell, yet it comfortably seats
one or two rowers, plus the kids. It is built the modern way now with
fiberglass, yet it echoes its finest wooden predecessors. The deck is
trimmed with teak and the seats and Rossiter-designed footrests are
adjustable for everyone's size, ease and comfort.
For over 40 years, we have focused on building better rowing boats.
Reflecting on a lifetime of personal rowing experience, every effort has
been made to produce a rowing boat of the highest quality and
performance, making rowing accessible, fun and exciting for all ages and
stages. Whether you opt for teak or fiberglass decks, or a drop in sliding
seat, your Loudon will be made to the highest standards with features just
not found in other family rowing boats. With three oarlock positions,
adjustable teak seats and footrests, the Loudon offers you the flexibility to
row single or double, and if you wish, you can even take along a couple of
passengers to do a little fishing. Whether you're alone or taking the family
along, the Loudon's fine ends offer improved tracking, increased speed
and glide, not to mention stability in a cross wind and overall seaworthiness
in calm or rough water. The Loudon's double hull, hand-laid fiberglass
lapstrake design and construction also provide positive buoyancy, and the
flat, non-skid floor makes it very friendly to get in and out.
As with all Rossiter Boats, the Loudon is built for each individual customer
and, as such, you can choose from a range of color combinations to
match your existing boat. You also have the option of Kevlar if you would
like something a little lighter.

WHITEHALL 13'
Our Whitehall 13' and 17' designs are traditional in nature with distinctive
wineglass sterns. The principal difference between the two models is that
the 13' is lapstrake and has a liner and adjustable single rowing seat, while
our 17' is smooth skin and has two fixed seats giving you the flexibility to
row single or double. Little is known about the origins of the Whitehall
but the elegant and practical design was first used in New York in the
early 1800's by navy builders. It was used as a workhorse carrying cargo
and men to and from ships in harbor and ranged in size from 12 to 24
feet.
Our more popular Whitehall 13 design can be easily rowed by one person
with room for two passengers. The adjustable rowing seat is teak and the
passenger's is fiberglass offering positive buoyancy adding to the boat's
stability and seaworthiness. It can also be towed behind a larger boat as a
tender or carried on a car to any destination. And for those times when
you want a little power the transom on both models can accommodate a
two horsepower engine as long as you don't mind using a tiller extension
when boating alone.
As with all Rossiter Boats, our Whitehall designs are built for each
individual customer and, as such, you can choose from a range of color
combinations to match your tastes. You also have the option of Kevlar if
you would like yours a little lighter.

POCKET SKIFF
Originally designed as a yacht tender, the Pocket Skiff measures up at a
tidy 12’ 3”. It’s the perfect little rowing boat for all ages and stages,
particularly those willing to forego Olympic competition for some
wonderfully pleasant hours on the water. It has two rowing positions,
and can accommodate any excursion from a single passenger, to the kids
(or grandchildren), complete with fishing poles. The Pocket Skiff also
offers the stability and seaworthiness you would expect in a fiberglass
boat of its size, with the added feature of positive buoyancy from its
foam-filled tanks, bow and stern. There is also a storage compartment for
your safety gear under the rower’s seat.
As with all Rossiter Boats, our Pocket Skiffs are built for each individual
customer and, as such, you can choose from a range of color
combinations to match your tastes. You also have the option of Kevlar if
you would like something a little lighter.

TENDER 10'
We added the Rossiter Tender to our line of rowing boats at the request
of our customers who were looking for a well-made tender for their
power and sail boats. At just 10' this tender is easily towed behind or
carried on a larger boat and gives you greater versatility and accessibility
whether you are anchored in a secluded cove or in a busy harbor with
people and cargo to get to and from shore. The Tender is easy to row or it
can accommodate a 2hp engine on the transom with room for the rower
and seats for passengers in the bow and stern.
As with all Rossiter Boats, the Tender is built for each individual customer
and, as such, you can choose from a range of color combinations to
match your existing boat. You also have the option of Kevlar if you would

WEE SKIFF
Perfect for young rowers who want to get out on the water on their own
and have fun. The Rossiter Wee Skiff was originally designed and built out
of wood by John Duncan. He wanted a little boat that his grandchildren
could learn to row in. He personally built over 40 of these skiffs which are
rowed by children near his cottage and he has now asked us to build them
so that you and your family can enjoy them on your own lake or pond. The
design is sturdy and stable enough to get in and out of safely, yet moves
swiftly on the water whether rowed by an old hand or beginner. The Wee
Skiff is made from easy-care fiberglass with positive flotation, a seat for
the rower and another one in the stern for a friend. As with all our boats it
can be made in your choice of colors. It is the perfect boat for children to
load up with fishing gear, get out and explore in or race in a regatta.

LASER SPORT SHELL
Building on the practical, seaworthy tradition established by Laser in the
1980's, Rossiter purchased the molds and production rights, improved
the performance and functionality. This quality craft combines the
features of the original Laser with the seaworthiness and safety of a full
deck boat. With a beam of 28 inches, its enhanced stability makes it ideal
for beginners and heavyweights alike. The sliding seat rig is also light and
strong with a fully adjustable foot stretcher for folks of all sizes. The
outriggers are made of stainless steel, and can be removed quickly to help
make transportation or storage very easy, and the Concept II oarlocks are
fully adjustable. Since bringing the shell back into production, we've
made a few minor improvements, adjusting the location of the seat
tracks and watertight storage hatch and sock to improve comfort and
convenience. We've also eliminated the plastic skeg and integrated it
right into the hull, getting rid of the original design's only real
shortcoming.
As with all Rossiter Boats, the Laser Sport Shells are built for each
individual customer and, as such, you can choose from a range of color
combinations to match your tastes.
