HOW IT WORKS:
This is just one way of looking at how the district spends
money. This method references all district costs across the
schools. Operating cost calculations are based on
enrollment numbers in each school, assuming the
following:
• School year = 180 instructional days;
• High School = 7-hour school day;
• Middle Schools = 6.5-hour school day;
• Elementary Schools = 6.17-hour school day.
Instructional hours per day are based upon start / dismissal times as posted in the shenet.org website.

*** Bus Drivers participate in 75 – 100 hours of behind the wheel and classroom training before they drive students. Thereafter,
bus drivers attend up to 5 hours of training each school year on various topics including student management, defensive driving,
accident avoidance, disaster preparedness and first aid.
All bus drivers are subject to fingerprinting checks, federal drug and alcohol screening, annual defensive driving testing, biennial
behind the wheel road testing and physical performance testing.
