Bath Middle School News December 2013/January 2014 Dear BMS Families: SCHOOL CALENDAR As we approach our Winter Break, it is that time of year to have some reflection on the educational progress of your student. It is also a good time to make sure your son or daughter is caught up with their studies. Winter Break affords a great opportunity to spend time with family, relax, and enjoy our great outdoors. It is also a good time to get caught up in school and strengthen any weaknesses identified this year. If you have concerns, please contact your student’s teachers or myself. Also, I would like to take this opportunity to thank all of the parents and staff that have made a contribution to the Bath Middle School students this school year. I truly appreciate those that come to conferences, check the website, attend PTG meetings, volunteer at athletic events, or any of the other odd jobs that so many parents/grandparents are willing to volunteer their time to do. Have a very happy holiday season and enjoy the time with your family and friends. Your Educational Partner, Lorenda Jonas AFTER SCHOOL BUSING Due to the full capacity of our elementary buses, beginning December 2, 2013, middle school students staying after school for athletics, clubs (student council, PALS, yearbook, running club, etc.) and/or to help teachers will no longer be able to ride the elementary bus. Academic factors include probationary (“D”) or failing grades. An athlete will not be allowed to compete in an interscholastic athletic contest if he/she is failing two or more classes or has any combination of 3 academic/behavioral marks. Academic marks are measured from the beginning of the term through Friday of the week before the competition. Note: Ineligibility will include Monday through Saturday of the eligibility week. If a student is ineligible, the coach will meet with the athlete to discuss his/her playing status. ATHLETIC ATTENDANCE— Athletes are required to be in school the entire day of an athletic event or practice. Athletes may not participate in practice or competition if they are marked absent for any period during the day unless the absence has been prearranged and the athletic department has been notified or official documentation for the absence is provided to the athletic office. Coaches will receive attendance records prior to practice/competition to ensure that the attendance policy is enforced. THANK YOU! In Hollywood Studios, what ride sends you plunging to Earth thirteen stories in an elevator? It is The Twilight Zone Tower of Terror, and each ride is different.
