Recently, the Delta community voted to approve an extension of 0.75% of the original 1% sales tax to expand and renovate their recreation center. The 1% sales tax that was approved in 1991 built the recreation center, public funds that were used to mostly pay the bond that was expired in 2011. The initial vote in 1991 passed with 72% support and the extension in 2010 passed with 78% support. The expansion project includes a state-of-the art indoor warm wellness pool with a variable speed lazy river and water features, a therapy pool, family locker area, expanded weights and cardio Drawing of the expansion of the space. Delta Rec. Center: In 1991, a 1% sales tax was approved to build MRD is currently the Delta CRC, and 0.75% of it was working to strengthen recently extended to expand the the plan to bring facility Montrose its first multipurpose recreation center similar to the facility in Delta. The amount of additional resources needed will be much less than was approved in Delta to build their center including the expansion. This is due in part to MRD's aggressive savings of existing budget, about 1/3 of total revenues (approximately $800,000 per year). MRD News: Summer of Health Goes Out with a Bang! Congratulations and thanks to all the participants in the Summer of Health weight loss challenge and the youth passport to health program! This 10 week initiative recently culiminated in a final weight out and celebration. A special congrats to the Crazy Dames Love Tacos team in the Summer of Health weight loss competition. The Summer of Health Initiative was a partnership between the MRD, the Montrose Daily Press, Montrose County, Montrose Memorial Hospital, the Center for Mental Health, the City of Montrose and Livewell Montrose-Olathe. The full initiative was a 10 week community driven program dedicated to healthier living. The community embraced the Summer of Health, with over 2000 youth passports distributed and hundreds of adult participants in the weight loss challenge. We'd like to thank everyone who participated, our partners that made it such a success and the Montrose community for practicing healthy eating and active living!
