in Automobil wird aus den unterschiedlichsten Materialien zusammengefügt. Gerade vor dem Hintergrund von
stetig steigenden Anforderungen bezüglich
Kosteneffektivität bietet sich die extrem
preisgünstige und anpassungsfähige Haftklebetechnik für immer mehr Anwendungen an. So finden sich Lohmann Klebebänder,
Stanzteile und selbstklebende Schäume
häufig dazwischen, dahinter oder darunter.
Sie sind das verbindende Element, das z. B.
auch Materialien unterschiedlicher Ausdehnungskoeffizienten vereint und selbst

dieser teilweise positiv empfunden wird,
sind einige Stoffe, die diesen erzeugen,
kritisch zu betrachten.
Seitens der Automobilindustrie
liegen Forderungen zur Einhaltung

Die Kfz-Industrie hat ein besonderes Auge
auf schwerflüchtige organische Verbindungen (SVOC), die im Verdacht stehen, über
lange Zeit Emissionen freizusetzen. Diese

Verbindungen haben einen Siedepunkt von
größer als 250 °C.

Emission) leistungsfähige Klebebänder für
verschiedene Anwendungen an. Diese werden den heute gestellten Anforderungen
nach niedrigen Emissionswerten gerecht.

verybody knows this: When entering a
new car, one is surrounded by a distinctive odour. Even if this "new car smell”
is perceived by many as pleasant, some of
the material components contributing to
the odour should be viewed as questionable.
The requirements of the automotive
industry are based on the following
standards:
The automotive industry keeps a focus on
so-called semivolatile organic compounds
(SVOC) that are supposed to cause emissions over a long period of time. These
SVOCs have a boiling point higher than
250°C.

Lohmann has accepted this challenge by
designing the LE (Low Emission) series of
high performance pressure-sensitive tapes

ie Anforderungen an Geräuschreduzierung gewinnen im Kraft- und Nutzfahrzeugbau ständig an Bedeutung.
Vibrations- und geräuschdämpfende Auskleidungen finden Einsatz im Bereich der
Fahrgastzelle, der Bodenwanne, des Cockpits, Dachhimmels und Kofferraumes.
Im Fahrzeuginnenraum können bezüglich
der Einhaltung geringer Emissionswerte
Duplocoll® LE tapes angewendet werden.

and commercial vehicles continue to
increase in importance. Noise and vibration
dampening materials are used in many places of a vehicle: passenger compartment,
floor pan, cockpit, headliner and trunk.
In the interior of a car, Duplocoll® LE lowemission tapes are an excellent choice to
prevent fogging.

Spulenware, auf Wunsch mit überstehender Abdeckung, können Sie Ihre Produkte
bestens für die Weiterverarbeitung ausrüsten. Darüber hinaus wird der hohen Temperaturbeständigkeit, die in diesem Bereich
erwartet wird, optimal entsprochen.
Das Klebeband lässt sich auch bei niedrigen Temperaturen optimal verarbeiten. Es
besteht aus einem geschlossenzähligen
PE-Schaumstoffträger und einer blauen
Folienabdeckung, die Gesamtdicke liegt bei
0,8 mm.

steadily increased in importance. The
balancing process involves measuring any
existing imbalance in the wheels and tyres,
and compensates for it by using pressuresensitive adhesive balancing weights.
Duplomont® VP 8166, supplied in rolls or
crosswound spools and available with
extended liner, meets all of the above
requirements including the excellent
temperature stability required for this
application.
The tape even allows for application at low
temperatures. It consists of a closed-cell,
cross-linked PE foam and has a blue film
liner. The overall tape thickness is 0.8 mm.

owohl im Oberklassesegment wie auch
zunehmend in der Mittelklasse werden
Automobile heute serienmäßig mit Sitzheizungen und Sitzbelegungserkennung ausgerüstet. Die elektrischen Elemente werden
dabei in der Regel mit doppelseitigen Klebebändern fixiert, die eine Vielzahl an technischen Anforderungen erfüllen müssen.
Lohmann-Klebebänder mit Gittergelege oder
Spezialpapierträger sind emissionsarm und
temperaturbeständig. Teilweise werden hier
Dispersionsacrylate, aber auch UV-Hotmelts
verarbeitet. Für Anwendungen im Fahrzeugsitz bieten sich Stanzteile von Metafol an.
Die Duplocoll® LE Serie eignet sich besonders für Verklebungen im Fahrzeuginnenraum. Durch partiellen Klebstoffantrag,
wie Streifenstrich oder Rasterauftrag, kann
die Atmungsaktivität deutlich verbessert
werden.
Der ständig wachsende Anteil an elektrischen und elektronischen Bauteilen im
Fahrzeug verlangt nach neuen, platzsparenden Befestigungselementen. In der Black Box

wird die Platine mit doppelseitigem Klebeband befestigt, was eine günstige Wärmeableitung sicherstellt. Auch die Montage
unterschiedlicher Sensoren, wie Regen-,
Abstands- und Temperatursensoren, kann
heute durch doppelseitig klebende Bänder
realisiert werden. Kriterien wie Temperaturstabilität, Hydrolyse- und UV-Beständigkeit
sind bei diesen Bändern berücksichtigt. Die
neueste Generation des Lohmann High Performance Tape (HPT) bietet eine Temperaturbeständigkeit bis 180° C. Wenn absolute
Transparenz gefordert ist, empfiehlt sich
die Duplomont® HPT-Serie.
Eine Sonderanwendung stellt die Wickelfeder als elektrische Leitung ins Lenkrad
dar. Zur Herabsetzung der Reibwerte
zwischen Feder und Gehäuse kommen
Isolationsmaterialien zum Einsatz, die
besonders platzsparend durch Lohmann
Tapes fixiert werden können.

detection systems. The electric systems are
mostly fastened with double-sided adhesive
tapes required to meet a multitude of technical criteria.

Lohmann pressure-sensitive adhesive tapes
with scrim carrier or special paper carrier
are temperature-resistant and provide low
emission values. The adhesives used for
these tapes are based on aqueous acrylics
or UV-cross-linked acrylic hotmelts. For
applications within the car seat, Metafol
offers precision die-cuts. The Duplocoll® LE
series is particularly suitable for applications in the car interior. Pattern or zone
adhesive coating in form of stripes or dots
may significantly improve the breathability
of the coating.

the steering-wheel. In order to reduce the
friction between the spring and the
housing, protective insulation materials

The continuously increasing share of electric
and electronic components in a car calls for
new space-saving fastening elements. The
circuit board of a black box is mounted
with double-sided adhesive tape to promote heat conductivity. The fastening of
various sensors, such as rain-, distanceand temperature sensors, with doublesided pressure-sensitive adhesive tapes is
state-of-the-art. The stringent performance criteria of this application like temperature stability, UV- and hydrolysis

Ein Duplocoll® Cable Fixing Tape ersetzt
bei der Kabelbefestigung mehrere ein- und
doppelseitig selbtsklebende Bänder.
Der ständig steigende Kostendruck verlangt nach günstigen Lösungen, wie
gewichts- und bauraumoptimierte Kabel.
Die Befestigung muss schnell erfolgen und
unter verkürzten Taktzeiten möglich sein.
Wird Duplocoll® CF als Rollenware zur
Vorkonfektionierung der Kabelsätze eingesetzt, so wird das Tape mittels eines
Lohmann Bandspenders gespendet und
abgelängt. Die Abdeckung auf der
„umhüllenden“ Seite wird vom Gerät
automatisch abgezogen. Das Kabel kann
nun auf den offenen Klebstoff aufgelegt
und die schützende Hülle umgeschlagen
werden.
Bei Rundkabeln werden oft noch mechanische Verbindungen eingesetzt. Man kann
sich jedoch lästiges Vorbohren, Klappergeräusche und Abriebschäden durch vibrierende Kabelelemente ersparen. Selbstklebende Tapes bieten klare Vorzüge und
werden in der Automobilindustrie vielfach
eingesetzt. Für den Bereich Kabelbefestigung hat Lohmann die Duplocoll® Cable
Fixing Tapes entwickelt.

Kabel können in einem Arbeitsgang selbstverklebend fixiert und gleichzeitig abgedeckt
werden – dauerhaft präzise und wirtschaftlich. Die selbstklebende Ausrüstung
der Kabel kann bereits in der Vorlieferkette

Klebstoffen an der Fertigungslinie.

Cable protection and fastening
hether in the car roof, in the linings, or in other components –
cables have to be installed and fastened.
Increasing cost pressure requires spaceand weight-saving solutions. The cable
fastening process needs to be quick and
has to allow for reduced cycle times.

Conventional round cables are often
attached with mechanical fasteners. There
is, however, an alternative fixing method
eliminating time-consuming pre-drilling,
rattling noises, and abrasion, caused by friction of vibrating cable elements: pressuresensitive tapes provide clear benefits and
are frequently used in the automotive
industry. Lohmann has developed the
Duplocoll® Cable Fixing Tape series for this
application. With these tapes, cables can
be adhesive bonded and covered in one
step, resulting in a secure, precise and
cost-effective process. The tapes are
designed to be laminated to the cable at
the component supplier thus eliminating
the need of applying adhesive at the
assembly line. Duplocoll® Cable Fixing
Tapes replace several single- and doublesided tapes in the cable fastening process.
For cable loom assembly Duplocoll® CF is
taken from the roll. The tape is supplied
and cut to length by means of a Lohmann
tape dispenser. This device automatically
pulls off the liner on the „infolding“ side. It
therefore enables the cable to be placed
onto the open adhesive surface and the
protective cover to be wrapped over.

Flachbandkabelschutz und -fixierung
Flat cable and flexible circuit fastening and protection
ostly single-sided adhesive tapes are
used to fasten flat cables. Performance
requirements for this application include
high tack of the adhesive and low-emission properties. Single-sided non-woven
tapes from Lohmann are an excellent
choice for this application. Various adhesive formulations are available depending
on the intended use. Tapes may be supplied
with extended liners to facilitate handling.

m Automobilbau kommen heute eine
Vielzahl von EPDM-Profilen zum Einsatz,
beispielsweise als Tür- und Kofferraumdichtungen, als Scheinwerfer- und Rückleuchtendichtung oder als Dichtung für
Türfeststeller. In vielen Fällen bietet es sich
an, diese häufig als EPDM-Profil ausgeführten Elemente mit einem doppelseitigen
Klebeband zu fixieren.
Lohmann-Klebebänder werden hier sowohl
mit hitzeaktivierbarem Klebstoff, als auch
mit klassischen Reinacrylaten eingesetzt.
Unterschiedlich dehnbare Trägermaterialien
beeinflussen dabei ganz gezielt die Eigenschaften des Dichtungsverbundes. In Abhängigkeit zu Ihren Bedarfsmengen bietet
sich entweder der Einsatz von Langrollen
oder auch von Spulen mit Längen bis zu
5.000 m an.

n today’s car manufacturing, a large
variety of EPDM-profiles are being
used, such as door and trunk seals, headand rear-light seals or gaskets for the
doorstop. EPDM extrusions are very popular
for these applications and in many cases,
the use of double-sided pressure-sensitive
adhesive tapes is the preferred fastening
method.

with varying elongation systems are available to match the desired performance of

Fastening exterior trims, decorative mouldings, door-sill trims and emblems with tape
has been important to the automotive
industry for many years. Lohmann mounting tapes perfectly conform to edges and
contours providing a high degree of freedom in design and construction. Bodyside
mouldings and decorative trims improve
the appearance of a car, and a pleasant
design is an excellent marketing tool.
Perfectly attached – mostly machine mounted – side mouldings and accurately positioned emblems or letterings are certainly

Wing mirror bonding
D
ie Außenspiegel eines Autos gehören zu
den Standardsicherheitseinrichtungen,
ohne die man sich komfortables Fahren
nicht vorstellen kann. Die Einsatzbereitschaft muss immer gegeben sein. Deshalb
werden höchste Ansprüche an die Verklebung des Spiegels mit dem Gehäuse
gestellt. Über einen Temperaturbereich von
ca. 150° C muss ein Spiegel seinen Dienst
erfüllen. Im Schadensfall darf von dieser
Sicherheitseinrichtung keine zusätzliche
Gefährdung ausgehen. Deshalb darf der
freie Splitteranteil des zerbrechenden Spiegelglases einen vorgeschriebenen Grenzwert nicht überschreiten. Neben diesen
europäischen Vorschriften müssen auch USamerikanische Standards erfüllt werden.
Seit einigen Jahren setzen sich beheizte
Außenspiegel immer mehr durch. Hier muss
sich ein Klebeband gefallen lassen, in
kürzester Zeit mit dem Spiegelelement von
eisigen Frosttemperaturen auf mollige
Wärme aufheizen zu lassen, um sowohl die
Vereisung aufzuheben als auch den entstehenden Feuchtigkeitsfilm schnellstens
zu verdampfen. So ist im Handumdrehen
wieder freie Sicht nach hinten möglich.

result, the adhesive tape system for the
bonding of the mirror to the housing has to
comply with very stringent performance
criteria. As an example, the bond needs to
function over a wide range of temperatures
up to 150° C. To eliminate any potential
safety risk caused by a broken mirror in
case of a crash, shatterproof requirements
have been introduced by the automotive
industry. The amount of glass fragments
breaking free from the mirror should not
exceed a specified limit. In addition to this
European specification, US OEM-standards have to be complied with.

Over the last few years, heated wing mirrors have become increasingly popular. In
this application, the tape laminated to the
heating element is required to perform under
extreme temperatures changes in a very
short time – from frosty conditions to
elevated heat during the de-icing and
de-moisturizing of the mirror-glass. An
unobstructed and clear rear-view has to be
restored as soon as possible.

Pillar facings (A-D pillars)

meistens mit einer Verkleidung versehen,
um eine Anpassung an das im Innenraum
vorherrschende Design zu erreichen. Hierfür werden z. B. tiefgezogene ABS-Folien mit
einem Haftklebesystem ausgerüstet und
auf die Säulen verklebt. Bei der Auswahl
eines geeigneten Klebebandes, das vorher
aufkaschiert wird und anschließend den
Tiefziehprozess mit durchläuft, ergeben
sich Kostenvorteile.

hierbei die besten Verklebungseigenschaften hinsichtlich hoher Schäl- und Scherfestigkeiten.

he pillars of a car are normally covered
with a facing matching the design and
appearance of the passenger compartment.
As an example, adhesive laminated ABS
films are deep-drawn and mounted onto
the pillar. In this cost-effective process the
appropriate transfer tape is laminated to
the ABS film prior to the deep drawing.
Tapes with pure acrylic adhesive systems
combine the best properties regarding high
peel- and shear strength. They also feature
the highest stability against elevated
temperatures, aging, solvents and UV-light.
In this method the entire surface of the
ABS part is covered with adhesive assuring
a perfect bond between facing and pillar.
