Recycled paper and ceramic,
aluminium, glass, natural resins,
timber from managed forests. These
are the materials being used by the
more environmentally sensitive
manufacturers of kitchens and
surfaces, without making sacrifices
on the aesthetic front. Cosentino, for
example, has launched Eco, a new
surface made plant-based resinsand
recycled inert materials, while in
kitchens Martini and Team 7 are using
“home-grown”, European woods.
Valcucine, with its Demode brand,
continues the commitment to creating
100% recyclable kitchens, and Arrital
is using PaperStone®, a product made
from recycled paper and petrol-free
resins. Appliance design, meanwhile,
has been focusing on the reduction of
consumption through the introduction
of “smart” programmes, capable of
improving times and performance
features. Cooktop developments
include electronic flame control
from Electrolux, ovens from Franke
with controlled heat flow using DCT
technology, the new class A+++ rated
dishwasher from Smeg and the Ico hood
from Elica, whose Synairgy motor cuts
energy consumption by half.

INTERACTING WITH
THE ENVIRONMENT
PaperStone®, an eco-friendly, recyclable material defines
the surfaces of the AK_04 kitchen, on everything from
the cabinet and drawer fronts to the tops. Thanks to its
compactness and class A fire resistance (up to 175°),
it is also suitable for use as a worktop material.

Vitrum, a system constructed with a genuine eco-friendly
approach: the “dematerialised” cabinet front, manufactured with
a minimum of material and energy, is made up of an aluminium
frame and glass panel; the fully recyclable In Vitrum base unit
system is made with an aluminium structure and recycled glass

DEMATERIALISED
DEMODE – ENGINEERED BY VALCUCINE_MECCANICA
Meccanica is an eco-sustainable system above all because
it is constructed with the minimum amount of material
needed. Rather than the traditional carcase it has an iron
structure, a changeable “skeleton” that can also exist
without fronts and sides, or be used to create shelving
systems. The top is made of Re-y-Stone® eco-sustainable
laminate in natural resin derived from by-products of the
sugar production industry.

NATURAL LIFESTYLE
MARTINI MOBILI_LE STANZE DI ANN
The use of solid wood sourced from managed forests
and water-based paints testify to the commitment
to environmental protection displayed by this firm, whose
Le Stanze di Ann project offers a complete furnishing
programme for the kitchen and living area.
The composition with brushed oak kitchen block and side
boiserie panels fitted with small drawers and plate rack
is particularly attractive.

QUALITY TIMBER
TEAM 7_VAO
Seven types of local and typically European timber are available
for the Vao kitchen, as for all Team 7 furniture which, thanks
to a manufacturing system based on satisfying criteria of
excellence and environmental protection, won the “European
Environmental Protection Prize”. Vao, seen here in the walnut
version, features special fronts with edges cut at an oblique
angle, creating a fingergrip in place of a handle. Vao also

ERGONOMICS AND ENERGY SAVING
ELECTROLUX_ PQF750UOX
Steel hob with five Flush Vertical Flame burners for optimum cooking:
the PQF750UOX hob combines contemporary design with high-level
performance features. The cast-iron pan supports and the CrossCook
arrangement give the burners great aesthetic appeal as well as ensuring
functional efficiency. The Flush Vertical Flame system regulates
the heat output but more importantly directs the flame straight to
the bottom of the pan, thereby avoiding heat dispersion. This cuts
the amount of gas required by 20% and reduces cooking times.

COSENTINO
Setting a new standard in sustainable design, Eco by Cosentino®
is a surface finish that offers truly eco-friendly, sustainable
features. It is 75% made from recycled materials (porcelain,
glass, mirror and vitrified cinder), with the remaining 25% made
up of natural stone and an eco-friendly, partly plant-based resin.
Intended for use in interior design projects and building work,
it is suitable for kitchen worktops, floors, wall coverings and other
customised applications thanks to the availability of large-format
pieces. This virtually non-porous material has an extremely low
liquid absorption level and being sturdy yet flexible it is easy to
work and cut. The surface it produces is compact, hard-wearing
and particularly resistant to knocks, scratching and chemical
attack.
ADVANTAGES 10-year written guarantee certificate.
Available in large-format sheets measuring 327x159 cm.
Available in three thicknesses: 1.2, 2 and 3 cm.
Colours and finishes White Diamond, Riverbed, Lunar, Polar Cup,

Attention to living space and the establishment
of a natural lifestyle are expressed through the use
of solid wood from managed forests and finished with
water-based paints. The concept comprises freestanding, tailor-made furnishings for the kitchen
and living area. The solid wood kitchens have framed
fronts with a natural or subtly-coloured finish.
ADVANTAGES The concept also includes chairs,
tables and consoles, furniture units, sofas and
armchairs, tables, cushions, rugs, lighting, porcelain
and the ‘Ann’ series of objects.

TEAM 7
The Vao kitchen brings out the qualities of pure natural
wood which, as for the Team 7 kitchens and furnishings,
means a choice of seven typical local and European
timber types. The edges of the cabinet fronts on Vao are
cut at an angle, to create a practical fingergrip in place
of a traditional handle. The grain pattern of the wooden
fronts, which are finished in natural oil only, is particularly
eye-catching. Vao won the 2011 Interior Innovation Award
and received a Special Mention in the 2012 iF Product
Design Awards, the 2012 Green Good Design Award and
the 2013 German Design Award.

extraction. The simple design
features an open geometric
element that acts as a surround
for the rectangular element,
in glass or stainless steel.
NOVY
ELECTROLUX
Fusion is a fully hideaway hood
that integrates completely
into the kitchen thanks to its
compact design (the minimum
depth needed for the wall unit

disappears out of sight; when
in use the front section opens
up and fumes are eliminated
through the “design filter”. It
features an innovative touch
control on the tempered glass
front.
ADVANTAGES Less Energy. Ico
uses the power-operated Synairgy
system, which cuts electrical
energy consumption by 50% and

shifts the appliance to a minimal
speed setting for five minutes
every half hour until the appliance
is switched off and guarantees
constant air exchange.
Sizes Width: 80 cm.
Finishes and colours White,
black, sanded glass or stainless
steel.
ADVANTAGES Fusion is part
of the Ecosmart range of high
energy efficiency models that
absorb fumes and remove
smells in an environmentally
friendly way. The recirculation
process returns the warm air
to the home, thus allowing
savings to be made on heating.
A series of functions offers
the opportunity to check on
consumption automatically.
Sizes Width 60 or 90 cm.
Finishes and colours Hideaway
front in tempered glass.
The ultra-flat PQF750UOX gas hob,
made from a single sheet of stainless
steel (with 8 mm surround) has five
innovative Flush Vertical Flame burners

process. The burners are arranged
using the so-called Cross Cook system,
which creates more cooking space
for large cookware. This model has
cast-iron pan supports and a safety
mechanism that cuts off the supply
of gas if the flame is accidentally
extinguished.
ambientecucina
project
ADVANTAGES High energy efficiency
thanks to the position of the flame
directly below the pan, ensuring
even cooking and reducing energy
consumption by 20%. Precise, gradual
