In 1991, Wal-Mart became an international company when it opened a Sam’s Club
store near Mexico City. Two years later Wal-Mart International was created. Today
Wal-Mart International is a fast-growing part of Wal-Mart’s overall operations with
4 205 stores (as of July 2010) and more than 660 000 associates in 15 countries
outside of the United States.
