PRODUCT CARE &
MAINTENANCE
When properly installed, interlocking concrete pavements have very low
maintenance and provide an attractive surface for decades. Under foot
and vehicular traffic, they can become exposed to dirt, stains and wear.
This is common to all pavements. These steps include removing stains and
cleaning, plus joint stabilization or sealing if required.
Installation
The importance of proper installation cannot be overstated. Expocrete
recommends you follow ICPI and NCMA installation best practices for the
installation of our products. We also recommend that when installing the
product, the paver, slab or wall units should be randomly picked from at least
two pallets when installing, resulting in the desired blending of colours
and tones inherent to the production of our products.
Cleaning
Stains on specific areas should be removed first. A cleaner should be used
next to remove any efflorescence and dirt from the entire pavement. A newly
cleaned pavement can be an opportune time to apply joint sand stabilizers
or seal it. In order to achieve maximum results, use stain removers, cleaners,
joint sand stabilizers, and sealers specifically for concrete pavers.
Repairs
Concrete pavers can act as a zipper in the pavement. When the need arises
to make underground repairs, interlocking concrete pavements can be
removed and replaced using the same material.
Unlike asphalt or poured-in-place concrete, segmental pavement can
be opened and closed without using jack hammers on the surface and
with less construction equipment. This results in no ugly patches and no
reduction in pavement service life.
In addition, no curing means fast repairs with reduced user delays and
related costs. The process of reusing the same paving units is called
reinstatement.

interlocking concrete pavement, including pedestrian areas, parking lots,
driveways, streets, industrial, port and airport pavements.

Lifetime Transferable Limited Warranty
Expocrete, an Oldcastle company is proud to inform you that all of our
interlocking concrete paver and retaining walls (“Products”) meet and/
or exceed the requirements of CSA A231.2(Pavers), CSA A231.1(Slabs),
ASTM C-936(Pavers) and ASTM C-1372(Walls). Expocrete guarantees its
Products against these standards for the lifetime of the Product defined by
ICPI (Interlocking Concrete Paving Institute). This guarantee does not apply to
splitting, chipping or other breakage that could be caused by impact, abrasion
or overloading. This warranty is transferable. The original proof of purchase is
required.
This warranty is only valid if the material is installed under the guidelines of
the ICPI (www.ICPI.org) or the NCMA (www.ncma.org). Improper installation
voids this warranty. This warranty is for residential applications only and does
not apply to commercial applications - refer to our commercial warranty. It is
recommended that the job is installed by an ICPI Certified Contractor.
Product Colour Representation
The products presented within this catalog are an accurate representation of
the colours and textures of our products. However, due to the inherent nature
of printed materials and media sources, Expocrete cannot guarantee specific
color matching to printed representations of the colour swatches presented.
The swatches shown illustrate the blended colours of pavers and walls. The
raw materials used in the production process will have an effect on the tones
and textures of the final product. The colour swatches shown are approximate
representation of our standard colors and actual product colours may vary.
Visit your local Expocrete Authorized Dealer to validate your product and
colour selection.
Efflorescence
Efflorescence is a fine, white, powdery deposit naturally occurring phenomenon
as various chemical salts make up a portion of the composition of the cement
and aggregates used in the making of concrete masonry units, the mortar that
binds the masonry units, and the grout that reinforces a concrete masonry
wall system.
This warranty does not apply to efflorescence. Efflorescence may be more
perceivable in darker colors such as Charcoal and Rustic as there is a
higher level of contrast than with other blended colors. It does not, in any
way, compromise the functionality or the structural integrity of the product.
Although efflorescence cannot be prevented, it will wash off over time or can
be cleaned with efflorescence cleaner. Expocrete accepts no responsibility
or liability for this condition. The removal of efflorescence from Products that
have been installed is the responsibility of the installer.
Textured Surfaces
Pavers with a textured surface such as slate are are more susceptible to
scuff marks from vibratory plate compactors used in most concrete paver
installations. Expocrete recommends the use of a urethane mat between the
plate and the paver surface during compacting.
Snow removal - Snow removal equipment should have the proper spacing,
bumpers, and rubber blade guards to protect the surface of the pavers.
Expocrete is not responsible for damage caused by the misuse of compaction
or snow removal equipment, which may leave scuff marks, or burns on pavers.
