referred palette: Palette No.6 (sepia/tan) is great for showing most structure and fish.
Palette 9 (blue) is best for high contrast.

ontrast setting: Auto contrast is the recommended setting for most users, however
you may find that you want to make small adjustments +/- to the contrast to dial the
display into what you want to see. Contrast for StructureScan® HD is equal to sensitivity
for traditional Broadband Sonar.

Where did all the wires go? The ability to bring electronic maps and software
updates into the boat is not new. What started off as a serial PC cable and bare wire
connections, turned into a stamp-sized multi-media card. That was outdone by the
micro-sized chip. All of these solutions still left you needing to plug something into
your multifunction display, back on the boat. Suddenly it all disappears. Enter the
age of digital marine— downloading and uploading maps, updating software and
getting cool new fishing apps direct to your fishfinder / chartplotter is now possible
with internal WIFI, equipped with the GoFree™ cloud enabled, HDS® Gen3.
GoFree™ WIFI-1 is a wireless bridge that allows owners of HDS® Gen2 and Gen2
Touch displays to view data when utilised in conjunction with a wireless device. This
low-profile WIFI gateway allows multiple tablets or smartphones to be used to view
Lowrance® network data. The WIFI-1 connects to HDS® Gen2 Touch multifunction
displays via Ethernet. A number of HDS® Gen2 Touch multifunction displays can be
used with just one WIFI-1 module, meaning that an entire system can be online with
just the addition of one handy wireless gateway.

Until CHIRP, most fishfinders used a single-frequency signal, considered to be the sonar standard for marking depths as well as fish
targets. And, 200 kHz is generally considered a good single-frequency option for shallow- to mid-range depths (to around 300 feet) and
50 kHz is a good option for greater depths.
Although Lowrance® sonar is considered to be the best fishfinder in the world, single-frequency operation does have its drawbacks. For
example, to increase sensitivity, you increase clutter on the display­—both near the surface and in the water column. But, if you reduce
sensitivity, you could miss fish targets.
Because CHIRP sonar uses multiple frequencies at once, you are able to see fish targets better than ever before. Individual game fish are now
more easily identified in or around bait schools, and game fish are more easily seen when holding near structure or the bottom.
You also get the clear benefit of a clutter-free display. And, all of these advantages are available whether you’re fishing an inland lake, or
off the coast on a deeper saltwater trip.

MULTIPLE CHIRP SETTINGS FROM A SINGLE TRANSDUCER
Because Lowrance® fishfinders give you the option of using more than one CHIRP Sonar signal, it’s
important to understand which one is right for your fishing situation.
HIGH CHIRP FREQUENCY SELECTION
Clearer Display, Enhanced Fish Targets
Most frequently used for freshwater as well as more shallow coastal areas. It provides the greatest detail
for tracking smaller objects, like your lure, or identifying game fish from bait fish, as well as game fish that
are near structure or on the bottom.
MEDIUM CHIRP FREQUENCY SELECTION
Wide coverage makes this frequency best for covering large areas while searching for structure or fish.
However, this option is not as detailed as High CHIRP and will not penetrate as deep as Low CHIRP.
LOW CHIRP FREQUENCY SELECTION
Provides the greatest depth performance, while marking fish targets throughout the entire water column.

MAXIMIZE CHIRP
1. Set-up of transducer: Select the correct transducer from the drop down
menu under Sonar > Installation menu. Lowrance® can CHIRP our standard
blue connector skimmer, HDI, and puck transducers.
2. Sensitivity: For most users auto sensitivity is the best setting. You can
adjust +/- auto sensitivity to dial in the sonar return the way you want it,
while still letting the unit control the master sensitivity for you. Adjusting
this setting will increase or decrease the signal strength on the screen. Too
high and the screen will become cluttered. Too low and targets may be lost.
It is recommended to run the Sensitivity in Auto mode, and make small (+/-)
adjustments to the auto setting.
3. Colour palette : User preference. Most Lowrance® users prefer palette
1 or palette 13. Palette 1 is great for showing bottom hardness and
composition, while palette 2 is great for distinguishing fish and structure
from the bottom.
