The La Fetra Center invites

La Fetra Center is located
overlooking Finkbiner Park
with views of the beautiful
Glendora foothills. We
offer rooms for banquets,
wedding
receptions,
birthday
parties,
and
business meetings. This
1,800 square foot multipurpose room is the perfect setting
for your next celebration. It can accommodate up to 200
guests for all parties
and up to 250 guests
for assembly seating.

The Oak and Elm rooms are ideal for your smaller meetings,
workshops, or classes. This second story room with a northern
view of the foothills measures 1,400 square feet and can

Bus Pass Sales - Both Foothill Transit and Metro local and
commuter monthly passes, day passes and stored value
amounts starting at $5 are available for purchase seven days a
week during regular office hours. All passes and stored calue
amounts must be loaded onto a valid TAP (Transit Access Pass)
card. TAP cards are available for purchase at the Transportation
Center for $2. If you are interested in a reduced senior, disabled
or student rate pass you must obtain the appropriate reduced
rate TAP card prior to purchasing any passes from our office.

Metrolink Commuter Shuttle- This service runs in the early
AM and afternoon PM peak commuter hours and travels along
a fixed route between the Glendora Transit Parking Plaza and
the Covina Metrolink Station making stops throughout the
Glendora alond the way. This is a great way to get to and from
Glendora without having to sit in that morning or afternoon

CHILDREN’S STORYTIMES are designed to help children
develop language, a love of reading and to promote
interaction between parents, adult caregivers and children
through stories, poems, songs and participation activities. All
Children’s Room activities are free to the public.
BATTLE OF THE BOOKS, a friendly competiton for teens, will be
held on Thursday, October 29 at 6:00 pm in the Bidwell Forum.
Come and cheer for your favorite team in this ‘battle’ to answer
questions on three preselected books the team members have
read.

SATURDAY MORNING TRAIL HIKES
Sponsored by the Glendora Trails Council
Glendora Trails Council members conduct these hikes. Children 12 and under must have adult supervision. No pets, please!
Members should bring a day-pack with 3 quarts of water and snacks. Long pants are recommended. Sunscreen, water, and a hat
may be needed. Due to difficulty level, trail length and size of the group, hiking times may vary. For more detailed information,
click on the “Trails & Trees” page in the Parks & Recreation section at www.ci.glendora.ca.us, call Dick Swinney at (626) 963-5668,
or email [email protected]. If it is raining at the time of the hike, it will be cancelled. All members will be required
to sign and fill out a hike liability form. The difficulty level is determined for those who do very little hiking. There is no
registration or fee required.
SOUTH HILLS TRAILS

This is a moderate1.5-mile walk, starting at the South Hills City
Park at the east terminus of Mauna Loa Ave. off Glendora Ave.
The group will be walking the Toyon, North Spur, Alosta Canyon,
and Big Dalton Wash Trails.
COLBY/COLBY-DALTON TRAILS
October31, 2015 • 8:00am
This is a strenuous 2.3-mile walk. Park at the north terminus of
Loraine Ave., north of Sierra Madre Ave., at the south trailhead of
the Colby Trail. The hike begins here and travels north and east to
the junction of Colby-Dalton Trail. The group descends into Little
Dalton Canyon and turns west back to the starting point.

(Lower Monroe Motorway)/Mystic Canyon Trails
TRAILS ACTIVITIES

This is a strenuous five-mile hike. Park at the first horseshoe curve
on Glendora Mountain Road, 1 mile north of Big Dalton Canyon
Road. There is limited roadside parking here. There used to be a
campground at this location. If the gate on Glendora Mt. Road is
closed, park at the gate parking lot, approximately ¾ mile north
of the junction of Big Dalton Canyon Road. We will hike up the
Lower Monroe Motorway along the Little Dalton Canyon stream
bottom. The motorway turns southward and continues to the
junction of the Mystic Canyon Trail. The group will follow this

Cosponsored by the Glendora Rotary Club, Corral 35 and
Glendora Community Services (The event will be cancelled
in case of rain at the time of the activity). Volunteers are needed
to maintain the trails in Big Dalton Canyon Wilderness Park. Each
participant will receive a free commemorative patch and lunch
for helping their local environment.
Individuals are asked to bring gloves, water, sunscreen and bug
repellent. Participants should wear long pants, sturdy shoes, a
hat. Adults must supervise interested youth groups under age 18,
Tools for trail work will be provided. Each individual will be asked
to sign a liability release form. Youth without a sponsor must be
18 years of age. For additional information on this project or for

approval. If an activity is cancelled by the Community Services Department, an automatic refund will be given. If a class/trip/tour
maximum is reached before your request is handled, you will automatically be placed on a waiting list and your funds will be
returned. If a spot opens in the class/trip/tour, the waiting list will be contacted on a first-come, first-served basis, and payment
will be requested at that time. Absolutely no cash refunds are given at any time! No refunds given on trips $20 or less. Trip refunds

POM-POM CHEERLEADING CLASSES
Beginners will learn the basics in Cheerleading and Pom-Pom.
Cheers, jumps, kicks, marching and dance moves will be taught.
Parade and dance routines choreographed to your favorite songs

LANDSCAPE WATER MANAGEMENT
This one day workshop focuses on the current water consumption
reduction requirements put forth by the City of Glendora and what
homeowners can implement in order to reduce water usage in
the landscape. Homeowners will perform a basic site analysis and
calculate their water usage in the landscape and learn how they
can conserve water by different methods in irrigation, a (re)design
of the landscape with (more) drought tolerant plant material, suited
to the homeowner’s existing soil characteristics, sun and shade
microclimates. $20 material fee payable to instructor, includes
manual and flash drive for each participant.

The La Fetra Center provides programs, services, and
activities to seniors, their families, and the community at
large. While the focus of the Center is on mature adults aged
55+, most activities are open to adult residents and nonresidents alike. Some programs, such as the Senior Café and
Meals on Wheels programs, require a minimum age of 60
years old.
CASE MANAGEMENT

Huntington Senior Care Network (HSCN) offers professional
assistance to help keep older adults and adults with
disabilities healthy and independent. We also assist those
who provide care for someone who is frail, elderly, or
disabled. A Care Coordinator is available to:
· Provide information on community resources and refer
you to them
· Explore options that can keep you at home
· Answer questions about resources and services
· Talk about solutions to problems that can affect your
independence
· Refer for care management services (in-home
assessment, individualized plan of care, service
arrangement, monitoring)

In this innovative program developed through California

Two classes are offered. The 8-hour, 2-day class is open to
anyone and the half-day, renewal program is for participants
who have completed the 8-hour course within the past three
years and just need to renew their certificate. Both classes
are geared to the needs of older (ages 50 plus) motorists.
Auto insurance companies are required by California Law, AB
2610, to offer a discount on premiums to qualified graduates
of this course. Participants must attend both days of the
8-hour session. Classes are held on a bi-monthly basis. For
those enrolling in the renewal class, you may be required
to show your certificate of completion of an 8-hour course
within the past 3 years.
