Dear IMDB, srK Is not gay
Dear

Industry

Sanjay Gupta
(Laughs) It’s no big

beautiful wife, two healthy
children, and people who
know me, know what I am.
A
It’s not just about
creating good music
for musicians today.
The game today is
about how many
clicks, views, likes and
tweets it’s got.
Something musician
Abhilash Gupta
would attest to...

Sanjay Suri
...there are others too on this
list of Famous Gay People In
Bollywood who don’t have
same sex orientation
n international website called IMDB
(Internet Movie Data Base) is sort of
like a bible for the films fans and the
film fraternity. This website has an
article — Famous Gay People From
Bollywood. The names of this list (in order of appearance) are: Onir, Karan Johar, Shah
Rukh Khan, Bobby Darling, Rahul Bose, Sanjay Suri, Kunal Kohli, Rohit Roy, Sanjay Gupta,
Mahesh Manjerekar, Sahil Shroff, Purab Kohli,
Aditya Panscholi and Deepak Parasher.
The list was created by ChrisTreborn seven
months ago, and it has fans of SRK questioning
if it is indeed a fact that their idol has a different orientation.
IT’S ALL ABOUT
SOCIAL NETWORKING
Wow, really? Who cares?
I wouldn’t bother getting it
changed. People assume that
I am gay because I have played
the character onscreen.
HOW RELIABLE IS IMDB INFORMATION
The Disclaimer: Information in the Internet Movie Database comes from
various sources. While we actively gather information from and verify items
with studios and filmmakers, the bulk of our information is submitted by
people in the industry and visitors like you. In addition to using as many
sources as we can, our data goes through consistency checks to ensure it’s as
accurate and reliable as possible.
How to correct the mistake....
The website admits, “Given the sheer volume and the nature of the
information we list, occasional mistakes are inevitable and, when spotted/
reported, they are promptly verified and fixed. That’s why we welcome
corrections and submissions.” So now all the actors on that list know what
they have to do.
Purab Kohli
That’s amusing! But finding
my name in the list doesn’t
surprise me anymore. I have
had people calling me gay
heart throb... I know who I am.
Such lists hardly bother me.
hirty thousand hits and
counting — that’s the kind
of attention the song Kehdo
from a yet-to-be released indie movie, Miley Somehow, is
garnering on Youtube. And
lead singer Abhilash Gupta is
pleased as punch. “My expectations from the song were
even bigger,” quips Abhilash
admitting that “the song getting three lakh hits would be
the dream!”
Composed by friend and
co-partner of his music production company, Nobin Paul,
Abhilash recalls, “The project
to compose music for Miley
Somehow just happened. A
common friend introduced us
to the film’s director, Vikram
Yoganand and we just decided to compose music for the
film.” While the movie has a
few other songs, it is Kehdo,
the first music single from the
film that’s got people buzzing
The poster for the
film, Miley Somehow
about it, with some of the listeners even calling it ‘inspiring’. “The music for this song
didn’t take us long to compose. I think we had the tune
in about under three hours,”
reveals Abhilash.
Okay, so there’s the part
about creating good music.
And then there’s the part
about getting it heard by people, a luxury by any standard
for an independent production . “Because we didn’t have
an extensive PR or marketing
team in place, we decided to
upload the songs on Youtube
and Facebook and tagged our
friends who in turn tagged
their friends... that is how
the song got viral,” explains
Abhilash. But it didn’t stop
just there. The team went one
step ahead and tweeted the
songs to popular names like
VJ/DJ Nikhil Chinapa and music director, Ehsaan Noorani.
“Nikhil and Ehsaan retweeted
the song, describing the video
as cool,” Abhilash states even
as he admits that that bit of
celebrity endorsement ensured more tweets and shares
and mentions in other online
music platforms.
So, does being a musician
today entail being a social
networking maven? It’s an
instant ‘yes’ from Abhilash.
“Today, being a musician is
not only about having talent.
It is important to ensure that
people listen to you, and even
more essential that important
people listen to you,” he says.
The good news didn’t just
stop with the positive reviews, Abhilash reveals. “The
attention has brought our
music production company
more projects. We’re getting
requests to compose jingles
and have companies calling
us with work.”
