Recently I was at Taylor’s Bar & Grille
in Williamstown and heard this new
local cover band. I was sitting at the
bar with a few friends of mine and we
were blown away by the power, passion and precision of the band by the
name of Formula 259. Just as things
were getting started, the manager
shut them down after only one set for
being too loud! I thought the band
was really good and I needed to know
more about these incredibly talented
musicians. I was so surprised to find
out that they had only been together
for a couple months. This fascinated
me and I had to dive deeper into the
short history of Formula 259. So I
sat down with Matt and Meat, the
co-founders.
Formula 259’s core came together
back in 2005 in a local cover band
called “Nothing Knew”. The members of the band went their separate
ways and a couple years later, drummer Meat (AKA Anthony Chomiszewski), a graduate of Settlement Music
School and radio veteran, self-taught
rhythm guitarist/singer Matt Shultz
decided to get together for a few jam
sessions. One month later, Matt and
Meat decided to try their hand at

formulating a new band. Soon
after, Matt was approached
by Sara Stern a co-worker at
Clear Channel Radio. “She
asked me if I knew anyone
with a band who was looking
for a female voice, needless to
say she was in the right place
at the right time. Sara brings
a sweet angelic sound to the
band. It’s a great counter to
Matt’s scratchy, raw voice,” said
Meat. Next step was to find a
lead guitar player who would,
according to Matt, “make the
hair stand up on the back of
your neck.”
the practice sessions that
Matt, Meat and Sarah were
completing. “We were getting ready to pack up when
this long haired rocker
showed up with his beat
up Les Paul.” said Meat.
That was all we needed to
solidify Mike as the lead
guitarist. “We would just
name songs and he would
start playing them, not just
playing them but destroying
them! It was awesome!”
says Matt. Now came the
task of finding a bass player
and booking some gigs.
An extensive search brought
them that exact guitar player in
a man named Mike Campnile.
Mike has a deep history in music business including his time
spent in LA touring with the
band “Spellbound”. Fresh off a
music degree from Temple University, Mike showed up with
just 10 minutes left in one of

will join current Monkey Bus members Rob Walters, Rob Groden, Jaimi
Cordner, and Mike Vlaanderen to
rock the night away.
When asked why Monkey Bus was
putting together a reunion show,
Monkey Bus co-founder and former
lead singer Mike Esposito aptly states,
“Our fans have always been our
number one priority as they have
been THE integral part of making
Monkey Bus as successful as they are
now. They have become our friends
over the years and have supported
us through so much that a reunion
show just seemed like the right thing
to do.” This sentiment is shared by all
members of Monkey Bus,
who have always valued
their fans in the highest
regard.
On a more personal note,
the original members of
Monkey Bus have been
itching to get back on
stage, even if only for a
night, to play alongside
some of their best friends.
“I miss playing with my
friends and I can’t wait to
join my friends on stage
once more,” replies Richie
Sanfillippo, original bass
player for Monkey Bus.
Monkey Bus was formed
in 1995 by lifelong friends
Mike Esposito and Rob
Walters. Originating in
Media, PA, Monkey Bus
has evolved into one of
the most exciting and
popular bands in the area.
When first starting out, as

Mike Esposito puts it,

NILS LOFGREN PAYS TRIBUTE TO NEIL YOUNG
By Rob Nagy
To most rock and roll fans Nils Lofgren is the long
time guitarist for Bruce Springsteen and the E
Street Band. To Lofgren aficionados he is a veteran
guitarist that is now into his fourth decade performing and recording with the likes of Neil Young,
Stephen Stills, Ringo Starr and Rod Stewart just to
name a few. Currently winding down a world tour
with Bruce Springsteen, Lofgren has most recently
released “The Loner”, a tribute to one of his biggest inspirations Neil Young, which features fifteen
acoustic versions of Young’s greatest songs.
Originally from Chicago, Lofgren was raised in
Maryland just outside of Washington, D.C. After
being exposed to the music of the Beatles and Jimi
Hendrix as a young teenager, rock and roll had
taken hold of Lofgren and a career in music was
eminent. He soon developed a talent for the guitar
and piano practicing every chance he had playing
whenever and wherever an opportunity presented
itself. By his late teens Lofgren had established
himself as a multitalented artist first as a member
of his band “Grin” and later joining Neil Young’s
band. Grin got a record deal but never achieved
the success that Lofgren had hoped for. Eventually disbanding, Lofgren got his first big break
when Neil Young enlisted his services. Lofgren
went on to record on the classic “After the Gold
Rush” and “Tonight’s The Night” albums followed
by concert tours. These were pivotal years for
Lofgren as he continued to master his skills as a
musician on the road and in the studio, experiences that would forge the foundation for, what
would become, a long and successful career. “I’ve
been very lucky” says Lofgren. “Chances are if I
had a hit record when I was a teenager with my
band ‘Grin’ or even as a young solo artist I would
have missed the chance to be in the first two
Ringo All Star Bands, play with Neil Young and Join
The E Street Band, probably none of that would
have happened. So I’m very lucky and blessed that
things happened the way that they did.” Following
his time with Neil Young and Ringo Starr, Lofgren
was enlisted by Bruce Springsteen and the E
Street to replace original guitarist Steve Van Zandt.
Lofgren hit the road with Springsteen on what
was his first mega tour in support of Springsteen’s
“Born in The USA” album. Little did Lofgren know
that he would remain a member of this legendary
band almost thirty years later. “I would have never
been so greedy to think that when I started forty
years ago that I would be in a band of this caliber”,
says Lofgren. “This is an extraordinary opportunity
that goes way beyond my talent level. Luck, fate, I
don’t know what you want to call it. I don’t take
it for granted or think it’s of my own making. It is
an opportunity that I am embracing and I am honored to be a part of it.” With the Springsteen tour
winding down this fall Lofgren is looking forward
to getting down time at home and recharging
his batteries so he can hit the road next year to
promote his latest release in a live acoustic
format. “It will be early next year that I’ll
actually get out on the road playing”, says
Lofgren. “I’ve been on the road for over a
year”, says Lofgren, “First on my own, doing
solo acoustic shows then with Patty and
now Bruce. I need to spend time with my
family, my cats and my dogs, just retool. I
am excited to do a lot of acoustic shows.
All of the Neil Young acoustic versions lend
themselves to being incorporated into that
format.” Prior to recording “The Loner”
Lofgren has great reservations taking on a
project of this type since he was attempting to re-create songs without sounding
like karaoke. “I never really would have
thought to do this”, says Lofgren, “It was
my managers idea. I hadn’t had a record
deal in fourteen years and my most successful solo releases were my live stuff.
For that reason he wanted me to consider
singing my favorite Neil Young songs in
an acoustic format. I’m an enormous
Neil Young fan and believe that Neil has
recorded these songs brilliantly already. I
felt the only chance that I would have to be
something special was if it was completely
live with no production or overdubbing,
much like the “After the Gold Rush” and
“Tonight’s The Night” records I did with
Neil.” With those as the guidelines I was
hoping to get ten or twelve songs. In the
end I came up with fifteen so we decided
to share them.” Lofgren’s efforts have not
been wasted as he has managed to successfully pull off wonderful interpretations
of an impressive list of Neil Young classics
which includes “Long May You Run”, “I
Am a Child”, “Harvest Moon” and “Only
Love Can Break Your Heart”. There is not
a weak track on the CD as Lofgren has
added a personal touch to each and every
song without taking away the essence of
Young’s songwriting. This turned into a
project that was very near and dear to
Lofgren’s heart with his professional and
personal history with Young and their
former record producer David Briggs, who
passed away in the mid nineties having
taught Lofgren much about recording, to
whom Lofgren gave joint producer credit
for “The Loner”. “I am very proud of this
record and look forward to performing
these songs live”, say’s Lofgren. “They are
tailor made to play for people. One thing
you can’t knock on my new record is the
songwriting (laughs). Right now we’re just
trying to spread the word.” Lofgren has
most recently launched his new website
www.nilslofgren.com. where you can
purchase “The Loner” as well as other
Lofgren solo releases. Through this same
media you can personally receive guitar
instruction from Lofgren. “Every three
weeks I do this thing called “Beginners
Guitar School”, says Lofgren. “It is a one
hour session that you can download learning how to play for fun and enjoy it. I came
up with this idea for all the people who
think, ‘cause they have no talent or rhythm
they’re not allowed to play guitar for fun
and enjoy it, I’m here to be the teacher
and navigate them through that. It’s a lot
of fun that I have really enjoyed. In spite
of Lofgren’s great success and longevity he
is not one to take anything for granted. “I
feel the more I learn the less I know”, says
Lofgren. “I don’t worry about it I just realize it’s a journey. There’s always something
to learn every show, every album, every
song you write, every new musician you
work with, every old buddy you work with.
I am very blessed and grateful for every day
and every musical experience that comes
up.” To stay up to date with Nils Lofgren go

Nathan (my guy) and I watched
the whole thing, either live or via

us from having to stay up all night.
I don’t know which parts I liked
best. Phelps of course was the
bomb, but the gymnastics chicks
kicked it. The boys weren’t bad,
either. Raj the long shot was my
favorite. Then there was 41 year

the alleged album. After doing
some research, I’ve come to hope
that these may be unmixed cuts.
Why do I hope that? Because
they were rough. And by rough,
I don’t mean raw or unfinished, I
mean rough as in hard to listen to.
The music and melodies themselves are awesome. It’s all the
dark, minor key type stuff that I
love, but Axl’s vocals are dreadful.
His tone is terribly pitchy and his
vocal control is lacking at best. I
don’t know what I expected from
a mentally ill, 40-something drug
addict, but hey, a girl can dream
can’t she?

has been winning over audiences with his
charismatic stage-presence, soulful voice, and
quick wit. Joshua is hopeful and unwavering
history to achieve at that level. So, an award winning jazz drummer

take a totally different direction with his music. AR fills us in..”I always who is willing to listen. “I want to do this

Anthony
Renzulli Band
Acoustic/Alternative/Rock
New Jersey
Hailing from Southern New Jersey, Anthony Renzulli is a singer/
songwriter, drummer and producer. The AR Band has a fresh acoustic pop rock sound that they can truly call their own. Anthony has
been writing and performing since he was a young teen in many
original bands. The AR Band has been together since 2004 and has
created quite a buzz in the New Jersey and Philadelphia scene...
Anthonyʼs first instrument of choice was the guitar but it was the
sound of the drum that grabbed his attention a little stronger.
After teaching himself the basics of playing the drums, he began
playing along to his fathers old record collection. Anthony adds,
“I didnʼt have a band or a teacher so I taught myself by playing
along with Zeppelin, Hendrix, Cream, and Buddy Rich albums that
belonged to my father. It took me a while to master the material
on those albums but Iʼd say it was worth it because now there is
nothing I canʼt hear when it come to the drums.” In 1998 and still
in high school, Anthony took first place in the all South Jersey Jazz
Competition and became one of the youngest in IAJE Region III
In 2002, Anthony started performing solo in numerous clubs and venues
all over. Anthony performed in NYC, Philadelphia, Trenton and Delaware
in just the first year. While he was not performing he practically lived in
any recording studio he can get his hands on. Anthony produces all of
his songs and was the drummer on the albums “For Lack Of A Better Day
(ep)” & “Whats It Gonna Take”. Anthony comments on his studio experiences (past and present), “All the engineers Iʼve worked with in the past
have been amazing. I like to keep it simple with a lot of feel, especially
when Iʼm drumming. When you let your insides control the flow and
dynamics of your music, you can turn a simple groove into audio magic
~lol. I just want to make the best music I possibly can, thatʼs it. Hopefully our sound will continue to grow.” Since then, Renzulliʼs sound grew
immensely. In late 2002, bassist John (AX) Delgadillo joined AR and
continued to perform all over the Philadelphia and New Jersey area but
it took more searching to make the full Anthony Renzulli Band complete.
In 2004 they added drummer Justin Fleming. In 2006, the AR Band has
added there most recent member, guitarist Doug Frontino.
In just a little over 3 years, the AR Band released 2 independent records,
made a music video, have features in various magazines, plays countless live shows (including a recent headlining show outside the Wachovia
Arena in Philadelphia, The Trocadero Theatre and 2 shows at the
Fillmore at the TLA) and has been receiving positive feedback from fans
all over the world not to mention having 50,000+ fans on Myspace. The
AR Band is currently playing live shows to promote there latest release
“Whatʼs It Gonna Take” and Anthony is already preparing new material
for the next release.

Ike
Rock/Indie/Powerpop
Philadelphia, Pa
It took the near-disintegration of their band and personal relationships
for John Faye and Joann Schmidt, the last ones standing in IKE, to make
the most compelling record of their career. Where To Begin their new
14-song album, puts a magnifying glass to the ups and downs of staying
together and starting over...
The Philadelphia rock quartet had enjoyed a satisfying “slow burn” on
their way to the upper echelons of the cityʼs rock scene. Led by powerhouse lead vocalist and songwriter John Faye, the band has wowed
audiences since the release of their debut CD Parallel Universe in 2003.
Having shared stages with the likes of Bon Jovi, REM, Cracker, Butch
Walker, Train, Better Than Ezra, Matthew Sweet, and The Hooters, IKE is
accomplishing more as an indie band than many major label acts that
get lost in the shuffle. Fueled by high-voltage live shows, unheard of
radio play for an unsigned band, and a loyal fan base which extends far
beyond their hometown, IKE has taken its DIY ethic to every imaginable
setting, from arena-size concert venues down to their intimate “Living
Room Shows.” The single “Into Philadelphia,” from the bandʼs 2006
album In Real Life has morphed into a hometown anthem, garnering
regular rotation airplay on the cityʼs legendary rock station WMMR, and
getting high profile stadium/arena spins at home games for the Phillies, Eagles, and Flyers. The band received accolades like Philadelphia
Magazineʼs “Best of Style” Award. But by the end of 2006, IKE parted
ways with original members Cliff Hillis and Dave Anthony.
Starting 2007 with a new line-up featuring original member Schmidt on
bass, and honorary bandmates Brett Talley (Outset) on guitar and Tom
Kristich (Jellybricks) on drums, Faye was once again ready to take IKE
to new heights, winning “Best Live Band” in Out & About Magazineʼs
Readerʼs Poll and recording the 14 songs on Where To Begin. Released
in the waking hours of 2008, “WTB” shows Faye and company at their
best, combining soaring vocals, big hooks, and lyrics that are at once
confrontational and confessional. With the hard-hitting single “We Like
Sugar” in regular rotation on WMMR and on the stationʼs “Jaxonʼs Local
Shots Vol. 4” compilation, IKE is building on the radio success of “Into
Philadelphia” and their reputation as one of Philadelphiaʼs most enduring bands. Ever youthful, ever optimistic, IKE shows no sign of giving up,
slowing down, or losing validity, with an album that acknowledges how
hard it can be to keep going and rebuild whatʼs broken, while looking
forward to the limitless possibility of things to come.

Kruse
Acoustic/Americana/Rock
Williamstown, New Jersey
Singer/songwriter, Joshua Kruse, is a 24 year-old South Jersey native
with big dreams and even bigger talent. An avid songwriter, with over
100 original songs under his belt, Joshua Kruse is steadily sculpting
his craft. “I catch myself daydreaming throughout my day, coming up
with little hooks and phrases” he says. “Itʼs like a jukebox is constantly
blaring in my head - only the songs that are playing are mine I havenʼt
quite written yet!” Kruseʼs music has been described as acoustic rock,
with hints of soul and Americana; fused with simple, yet powerfully
Papa
Midnight
Rock/Alternative/Soul
Philadelphia, Pa
“PM” originally started with Josh Copskey
and Jay Caucci playing original acoustic
shows throughout the Delaware Valley in
2002. Wanting to expand their sound, they
brought on board singer/songwriter Steve
Smith in 2004. The trio went on to play for
several years known as “In The Red”.
Fast forward to 2007; the band found themselves with a new name and a new sound.
Papa Midnight was born. After a few rehearsals bass player, Zac Tait, and drummer,
Chris Medlar, were added to form the official
“PM”. With this lineup the group has been
able to master their original sound and form
a strong following in the Delaware Valley.
After playing reputable venues such as The
Pennant East, The Stone Pony, Doc Watsonʼs,
North Star Bar, Susquehanna Bank Center
and being featured on WMMRʼs Jaxsons
Local shots as one of the top up and coming
bands. Papa Midnight also performed on
national television on Backstage with Barry
Nolan in May08 and played a live studio
performance at Radio 104.5 in July 08.
July proved to be a great month, giving the
band opportunities to play at Dave Matthews
Bandʼs and Pearl Jamʼs VIP parties at the
Susquehanna Bank Center. PMʼs single, Yarn,
will be featured as a track in the up and
coming movie ʻNo Boundaries”. The movie is
due out in February of ʻ09 and will be send
to Sundance, Cannes and 10 other movie
festivals around the world.
In the upcoming year the band plans on
finding professional management/label
representation, planning a 08/09 tour and
finishing the full length album. PM continues
to play live, write more material and hopefully gain more fans everyday.
“The best original band Iʼve heard” – Al
Grosso, Manager Harperʼs Pub
“This bands acoustic set in the studio was on
fire! Their Stone Pony performance was even
better. Papa Midnightʼs sound is so original
that you cannot stamp a genre on them.
They rock!” – Sean Layton, WMCX 88.9 Radio
“When you talk about the full package, these
guys have it. Musicianship, Songwriting &
Stage presence. From note 1, the party was
in full gear. Papa Midnightʼs blend of Rock
& Reggae with a modern edge spans genres
& demographics. Young & Old, Boys & Girls
alike will latch on to these guys and will be
exhausted & smiling by the end of the set”

Ok, let’s say it’s
Monday afternoon.You had to
work all weekend.
You couldn’t
spend any time
with your honey,
and you missed
the Eagle kick
some Ram ass.
What the… the
hell with sitting
at home all night.
You need to kill
three birds with
one stone. Where
do we go to find
“Life after the
weekend”? So, I
went on line and
found a great spot
called, Pikes Pub
n Grub, located
at 455 Second
Street Pike, in
Southampton, Pa.
The Pub offers
many nightly
activities all week
long. It also has a
separate dinning
area for nonsmokers. Monday
night is Lady’s
night, featuring
$1.50 Lions Head
bottles from
9pm to 12am, and
free pool from
11am to 4pm. And
the food!! Man
what a menu. The
Dinners are very
reasonably priced.
A 10oz. strip
steak, cooked to
order, includes
soap or salad for
$15.95. And the
Baby back ribs
are to die for.
They come with 4
potato sides, soup
or salad for under
$12.00 bucks. The
chefs are Ryan
(is Hawaiian) he
oversees the daily
kitchen operations. And Chef
Rob, who keeps it
going through the
night.
My friend, Stu-
with Angel Casiano
art, and I had dinner at the Pike on
Wednesday night. Which happened
to be Crab Nite, all you can eat from
5pm to 8pm.This includes soup and
salad for $19.95, not bad.
Of course, Stuart went for the crabs,
I tore up some ribs. The cool thing
was they let us share. I like to check
out the Appetizers , and they had a
lot to choose from. Beer battered
onion rings, Coconut shrimp, Grilled
shrimp, Buffalo shrimp. Mussels ala
Diablo, that means their hot as hell,
and more from $6 to $8 bucks. We
had the Chicken Quesadilla and
some Perogies to start. Wednesday
night is also “Kinky Quizzo nite”
with Jeanette.You definitely want to
bring a date on Quizzo nite., cause
after this game, you won’t want to
go home alone. And if you like trivia,
Thursday night they have the Miller
Lite Trivia nite. Friday night is Karaoke from 9:00 pm to 1:00 am.
Try the Hamburgers, Cheese
Steaks, Chicken cheese steaks and
Wraps, some fries and a beer. Less
than $12.00 bucks. I’ll tell ya, this
place rocks on Saturday night with
live music till 1am. Hey!!! Are you
ready for some Nascar! Sundays it’s
Nascar Beer & Wings. Man
you talk about, “Life after
the weekend”. With Eagles
specials coming soon, this
place never stops. They have
a neighborhood crowd that
loves to hang out at the Pike,
and with good reason. There’s
Susanne, she’s the manager.
We had such a nice time
talking to her. Our waitress
was the lovely and energetic
Connie. And the blond bomb
shell behind the bar is Cheryl.
Thanks to the legendary Don
Mc Geary, owner of Pikes
Pub n Grub, Stuart and I had
a fun time at the Pike. We
gotta give it 4 poppers up.

Horoscopes
By Psychic Perry B.
Aries (March 21-April 19) An opportunity is coming your way,
but you will have to move quickly. Advice from a friend may not
be what you expected. Don’t take it too seriously. You should
relax a bit more and get out into the world.
Taurus (April 20-May 20) Getting on top of things will give you
the upper hand. You will also have better control. Friends are on
your side right now and you can depend on them. Take advantage
of the situation.
Gemini (May 21-June 20) What you are doing is making good
results. Stay your path and you will see a brighter day. You might
find the job more difficult as it goes along but you are up for the
task. You can do anything you put your mind to right now.
Cancer (June 21-July 22) Try to be as informed as you can about
a project, the more you know the better off you will be. Listen
carefully when others talk, what you seek may be in their words.
If possible take a different approach.
Leo (July 23-Aug. 22) It is possible that others are acting differently toward you, perhaps too kind in some cases. It may look like
they are going to want something from you, but that is not always
the case. Take a wait and see attitude.
Virgo (Aug. 23-Sept. 22) Be sure to look before you leap. You
may not have all your facts correct. Review and then review again
to be sure. When others reach out to you, you will be able to
deal from strength. It is important that you have the conversation
on neutral ground.
Libra (Sept. 23-Oct. 22) People take advantage of good-natured
people. Your good nature could be getting you into trouble.
Don’t change who you are just change how you are doing things.
People will respect you more.
Scorpio (Oct. 23-Nov. 21) Look for good news at work, something is brewing and it could be a feather in your cap. Stick to basics and you will find it to be the easiest way to get the job done.
Take care of family matters in the same way and things will also
work out for you. Give your best and you will get the best back.
Sagittarius (Nov.22-Dec. 21) Ask for what you want and it will
come to you. People are not mind readers. Be direct and you will
not be disappointed. You may have to be a little firmer with children, or they will walk all over you. Remember NO is a complete
sentence.
Capricorn (Dec. 22-Jan 19) Keep in mind that the Holidays are
coming and you will need more money for that. Plan now and
you will be all right. Try not to go to extremes with spending right
now. Pick your purchases carefully and budget well. You may be
expecting a bonus but do not depend on it coming.
Aquarius (Jan.20-Feb 18) You are riding high now and that is
a good thing. It is always great when things are going your way.
Someone close to you comes through with a pleasant surprise
and that will keep the good humor going. Try to spend a little
more time in the romance department.
Pisces (Feb. 19-March 20) The cool weather has energized you
and you are apt to over do. Pace yourself now and you will be
thankful later. Getting closer to a loved one is a good idea right
now as well. They need some of that good energy you are spreading around. Do something special for them, they need the boost.
