Modern harvesting techniques and the warm waters of the Gulf produce oysters nearly all year long. Early March is when Fulton hosts its annual salute to the these ocean creatures, drawing more than 30,000 attendees to the city’s waterfront to enjoy fireworks at 8:30 p.m. Thursday, contests for raw oyster eating and shucking, live entertainment, a parade, vendors and a carnival with games and rides. Proceeds benefit the Fulton Volunteer Fire Departme nt. The 36th-annual Fulton Oysterfest is March 5-8 in Fulton Harbor Navigation Park.
