Building a Scholastic Heritage is very important to the success and longevity of the school. As St. Lucy’s moves into its 52nd year, and 39th annual BASH event, the generosity and support of parents, alumnae, and friends continue to ensure that our daughters will receive an excellent college preparatory education at a comparatively reasonable price. When we first visited the school for Open House four years ago, we knew immediately that St. Lucy’s was a special place. Since then, we have been overwhelmed and deeply appreciative of the great teachers, wonderful staff, and dedicated families who volunteer in so many ways throughout the year. Now that one of our daughters is a senior, we truly see that St. Lucy’s was the best choice to prepare her for college. Special Thanks to our past BASH Chairs: BASH 2014 Michael & Rose Rummer BASH 2013 Steve & Verny (Brias ’80) Kummerfeldt BASH 2012 Steve & Verny (Brias ’80) Kummerfeldt BASH 2011 Steve & Verny (Brias ’80) Kummerfeldt BASH 2010 Tia Diton BASH 2009 Mark & Lisa Davis BASH 2008 Tonight is about enjoying a great event in the company of your peers, the school’s supporters, and St. Lucy’s staff and faculty. Please take this time to peruse all of the wonderful Silent Auction items while enjoying a beverage from the bar and DELICIOUS (We mean DELICIOUS!) appetizers. Later on, once dinner is over and you are feeling content, it will be time to let your wallet do the talking by bidding, and bidding often, on the Live Auction items. A good way to burn off that dinner is to raise your auction paddle as much as possible! The Live Auction items are amazing and well worth your investment. On behalf of St. Lucy’s, we want to express our gratitude to all of the families and event sponsors for their tremendous support of BASH 2015. We also wish to thank the St. Lucy’s staff and faculty for all that they do for our daughters each and every day. We hope you enjoy the evening and go home with something that reminds you of having a “BE DAZZLING” night. Remember…what you give today goes towards the future of a wonderful, amazing school that produces superb young women. Welcome to our 39th Annual Building A Scholastic Heritage Dinner & Auction — “Be Dazzled!” Tonight, we celebrate all that “dazzles” at St. Lucy’s Priory High School… ✦ Our outstanding student body ✦ Our talented Regent athletes ✦ Our dedicated teachers and staff ✦ Our Catholic identity ✦ Our fantastic school parents and their families ✦ Our beautiful campus ✦ Our remarkable 6,650+ alumnae ✦ Our 100 percent college acceptance rate ✦ Our exceptional academics and curriculum ✦ Our sisterhood ✦ Our diverse charitable projects Since 1964, St. Lucy’s extraordinary tradition of excellence has been recognized through the academic achievements, personal accomplishments, and growth of our students. Each of these goals has been nurtured, with the intent of empowering St. Lucy’s students to become successful women in society. These young women live our motto of “light + truth + peace,” not only as students, but as alumnae. In fact, the name “Lucy” or “Lucia” comes from the Latin word lux or lucis, which means “light.” History tells us that St. Lucy was a young woman whose very name symbolizes the light of faith, of learning, and of knowledge. The original purpose of BASH was to provide funding for the construction of the school’s gymnasium (1981 – Phase 1), followed by the top-level classrooms (1996 – Phase 2). Now, all proceeds raised at BASH benefit each and every one of our young women, while supporting the short and long-term institutional needs of the school. The first BASH Dinner & Auction was held in 1978 and continued for 12 years at local hotels. In 1989, the event returned to St. Lucy’s and has remained on campus to this day, which provided a chance for the St. Lucy’s community to enjoy BASH at our home-away-from-home. Please enjoy all that BASH has to offer tonight. There are over 250 items in our Silent Auctions, and over 50 items in our Live Auction. Please take note of our generous business donors and advertisers, and return the favor with a visit to their establishments whenever possible. Ask any of my friends who my favorite singer is and they will all give you the same answer, because Justin Timberlake is perfect and he makes me happy. That is who I am, that is what I like, and I do not let anyone tell me differently. Other questions about ourselves, like our future careers, our love lives, and our purpose in life, remain blank in our individual books of life. Only we have the power to pick up the pen and write our story. Some of us feel that we have it all figured out, and others of us do not have a single clue. We have to remember that God has a plan for all of us and we all move through life at our own pace. We all have a purpose…We all have special talents and some of those talents may take longer to find. However, that does not mean they are nonexistent. 6 S t . L u c y ’ s B A S H 2 015 We are all capable of doing something absolutely amazing with our lives. Religion, race, sex, height, size, and color do not define us, who we are, or who we want to be. They only cloud our perception of ourselves and keep us from our capabilities. We are all phenomenal in our own way, and we were intended to be just that. Whoever is out there reading this, know that no matter what is going on in your life, no matter how you are being treated or how you feel, YOU ARE IMPORTANT. The only person that can hold you back from your dreams is yourself, and without restraints you are completely and utterly boundless. Whether your dream is finding love, becoming successful, having a family, moving to a different country, or just being happy…you can do it. I can do it. We can do it. — By Elisia Corral ‘15 live & silent auctions General Auction Rules Live Auction Rules 1. Your successful bids may be accumulated during the evening 1.
