wheel it never crossed anybody’s mind that it
would become a cult classic one day. The
wheel was actually designed in a very unconventional way for motor sports: For once the
go-ahead did not come from management or
the marketing department. It was more a case
of a “secret project” designed in very limited
free time. We owe our cult classic wheel to the
initiative of Harald Ertl, the famous racing
driver who won the DRM championship in
1978 driving a BMW 320 Turbo.

The German-Austrian driver worked his charm
on RONAL’s then head of development until he
came up with the three-piece RONAL Turbo
wheel. This pioneering spirit garnered him
enormous publicity at the time.
With the R50 AERO wheel and the new, completely polished surfaces, the RONAL GROUP
continues to consistently refine these wheels
into a contemporary version of the cult classic
for the 21st century.

The RONAL GROUP has been successfully
using so-called flow forming technology, with
the aim of manufacturing ever lighter aluminum wheels. Using this special production
technique, it is possible to reduce the volume
in the rim bed by up to 50%. This remarkable
weight saving has a positive impact on
­consumption and thus on performance. The
popular variety of design remains intact – as
does the usual familiar high safety standard.

carbon wheels. The innovative CR-9 carbon wheels
are more rigid than well-established aluminum
