Walker and Robert J. Word in 1947 at a Florida airplane hangar making screens. These hardworking, visionary founders never forgot the value of good people as the company continued to expand. Steadily increasing the scope of its business while adding plants from coast to coast, MI began manufacturing storm windows in 1972, storm doors in 1974, then introduced vinyl replacement windows in 1981.
