Dear Community Residents:
Did you know that 45,609 of your neighbors have library cards at the Mastics-Moriches-Shirley Community Library?
Your Community Library remains one of the busiest public libraries in Suffolk County! That we continue to be an active and
vital part of the community is evident in the fact that 751,585 items were borrowed last year; 105,990 uses of our computers were logged; 43,662 of you attended our exciting cultural, educational, and recreational programs; and we had over
475,000 visits to our facility last year!
As your elected representatives, your Library Board is responsible for the governance of the Library. We take seriously our
obligation to be Library advocates and leaders in developing excellent services that are responsive to the evolving needs of
the entire community. When we begin the process of preparing the budget, considerable attention is given to present you
with a budget that continues to provide a blend of the best in traditional and innovative Library services.
Now more than ever before, the Library has become an essential component of our lives. We have learned to adapt quickly
to changes in technology and to proactively anticipate changes in your needs from us. Just this year we added a full complement of downloadable audio books on our web page for your convenience. Whether you need training in evolving technologies, career counseling, parenting information, literacy tutoring, homework help, or just want to borrow the newest DVDs,
books, magazines or audio materials, we are here for you.
We look forward to working with the administration and staff of the Library to help bring you all the services, programs, and
materials that you need. On behalf of the Board, and the staff of the Library, we thank you for all your support.

numerous and include performances at Carnegie Hall and Lincoln Center.
Internationally, the Rossetti String Quartet has performed for audiences in
England, France, Italy, Spain, Germany, the Netherlands and Mexico.
Co-founded in 1996 by violinist Henry Gronnier and violist Thomas Diener the
group is completed by cellist Eric Gaenslen and violinist Nina Bodnar. Each
member of the Quartet is an accomplished musical artist in their own right,
and the aesthetic depth and insight each brings to the group help create the
intimate, provocative atmosphere that has become the Rossetti trademark.
Yolanda Kondonassis is recognized as one of the world’s foremost harpists,
performing both as a concerto soloist and recitalist throughout the United
States, Far East and Europe. Since making her debut at age 18 with the New
York Philharmonic and Zubin Mehta, she has appeared as soloist with numerous major orchestras. Solo appearances include engagements at Lincoln
Center, the 92nd Street Y and Taiwan’s National Concert Hall. Over 100,000
copies of her CDs have sold worldwide, which include much of the standard
repertoire, as well as her own transcriptions and compositions for harp.
The Rossetti String Quartet’s repertoire, while firmly based in the classic and
romantic string quartet literature, embraces contemporary works and champions new music.
