AN INTRODUCTION
TO RED SAVANNAH
HOW BE AUTIFUL
IT IS TO TR AV EL
Red Savannah is a travel company designed for people who value
expertise and on-the-ground knowledge. Staffed by some of the
most experienced names in the business, our company has the
ability to listen to and interpret sophisticated needs.
02
INTRO
Put another way, we’ve gone back to basics, remembering why
any of us travel in the first place – because we love it, because we
understand adventure to be a beautiful thing, and believe it has the
power to transform people and make us think a little differently.
But delivery is what matters, which is why nobody at Red Savannah
has had less than 10 years experience in the industry. We only
sell what we know, and we say what we think. No hogwash.
No luxury-speak. Just breadth, depth and great connections to
deliver meaningful journeys underpinned with a sense of belief.
That’s why our mantra is to be truthful at all times – in the
destinations we support, the hotels we recommend, and the complex
itineraries we put together as we take on new frontiers. We’re not
interested in fads. The Red Savannah experience rather strives to be
authentic, substantial and intelligent, our sense of integrity, passion
and up-to-date knowledge conspiring to keep us cutting-edge.
With every trip designed around a client’s particular aspirations,
this brochure is therefore intended only as the beginning of a
conversation. In the coming year, we look forward to crafting each
and every journey for very particular individuals – experienced
travellers who instinctively know what is right.

ALBEE YEEND
KATE SAMUEL
REGIONAL MANAGER – AFRICA
MANAGER – SOUTHEAST ASIA
A commission in the Coldstream
Guards and fast-stream pass in
the Foreign Office exam were
sacrificed for a career in luxury
travel where he became Group
Managing Director of Abercrombie
& Kent. Milestone adventures
include travelling through Central
Asia by private saloon railcar
in 1990, and accompanying
HRH Prince of Wales walking in
the Himalayas and on safari in
Tanzania. George is a keen skier,
diver and pilot.
Albee’s first love of Africa started
on a canoeing trip in Zambia down
the Lower Zambezi. This was
followed by three years running
luxury safari camps including
Jack’s Camp in Botswana and
Tongabezi & Sausage Tree Camp
in Zambia. She successfully
developed the Africa department
of Steppes Travel for 13 years,
and still occasionally throws
herself out of a plane or dives
with Great Whites to keep life
in perspective.
Kate Samuel, our Southeast Asia
specialist, fell for the region’s
charms on her first visit 16 years
ago. A chance encounter with
a group of Buddhist monks in
Bangkok led to her joining them
for an extraordinary two days
celebrating Thai New Year in a
remote rural village. Since then
she has explored extensively,
gaining a deep understanding and
respect for the different cultures
and customs of this fascinating
region where change is endemic.

NICK WESTWOOD
REGIONAL MANAGER –
SOUTH AMERICA
MANAGER – INDIAN
SUBCONTINENT
DIRECTOR OF PRODUCT
& CONTRACTING
Rose began her career escorting
riding holidays in Patagonia. The
ensuing 20 years has seen her
exploring the fjords of Chile, jungle
lodges in Ecuador, sailing around
the Galapagos, walking the Inca
Trail and travelling overland from
Quito to Rio. Rose has a profound
knowledge of what makes South
America tick from the rhythmic
beat of its vibrant cities to the
pampas and mountains beyond.
Few people have been known
to combine Coco Pops with a
masala dosa for their breakfast,
but Bea is no cliché. A highflying mathematics and German
graduate, Bea’s interest in Asia
began with backpacking through
India followed by teaching in
a Sri Lankan school for Tamils.
She spent many years working
for Audley Travel and has visited
Nepal, Bhutan, India and Sri Lanka
more times than she can count.
Not many people can claim a call
from the French Foreign Secretary
when in urgent need of a summer
villa. But then Nick knows his
game. A linguist who has lived
and studied in Florence (where
he perfected his Italian working in
the San Lorenzo Market), Bologna
and the French Pyrenees, Nick’s
entire career has been devoted
to seeking out Europe’s most
beautiful villas and hidden gems.

ED GRANVILLE
MEL MATTHEWS
MANAGING DIRECTOR –
VILLAS & SKI
CHIEF OPERATING OFFICER
REGIONAL MANAGER – MALDIVES
Shortly after birth Charlie was
shipped out to Jamaica where
his life as a travel devotee began.
During a stint with the Scots
Guards, he became part of the
Cresta Run team in the Army
winter sports championships in
St Moritz. He joined Powder Byrne
before moving to Abercrombie
& Kent, where he ran the Cape
Town office and later established
the global luxury villa division.
Drawn by the allure of Spain’s wild
sierras, Ed managed to condense
a lifetime’s worth of exploration
into a few adventure-packed years
after completing a degree from
Oxford in modern languages. He
has since developed a European
concierge villas programme and
co-founded an award-winning
walking holiday specialist. Making
an ascent of Chamonix’s terrifying
Cosmic Ridge still counts as one
of Ed’s greatest travel moments.
Never one to shy away from
skiing the narrowest of couloirs,
Mel’s terrific sense of adventure
translated perfectly into a 20-year
career in luxury travel. As our
Maldives expert, she knows every
pertinent detail of every resort
that’s worth knowing. A keen sailor
and passionate about competitive
bridge, Melissa has that rare
and instinctive feel for matching
the right personality with the
right resort.

To walk with elephant , ride with giraffe, obser ve mountain

Serengeti in pursuit of passing rains – this is Africa as it has
always been. From the floodlands of the Okavango Delta to
Namibia’s dramatic dunes, from the plains of the Masai Mara
to the snow- capped peak of Kilimanjaro, we open up
this continent to both the inquisitive and the willing.
Across the vast desert sands of the Sahara, a journey to North

THE BE ST TIME TO GO
The million dollar question. Every destination has its high season, which is generally considered to be the best time
to travel. However, shifting weather patterns across the globe mean that seasonality is now a much less precise
science than in the past. It is, therefore, worth considering the benefits of travelling in the shoulder or green season,
when pricing can be considerably more attractive, fewer people travel and the weather can often be much better

THE AUTHENTIC AFRICAN SAFARI HARKS
BACK TO A STYLE OF TRAVELLING WHERE
TIME PAYS HOMAGE TO EXPERIENCE
THE AFRICAN SAFARI
The true safari isn’t just about the ‘Big Five’, nor about
the sophisticated lodging that is to be found in some
of the most remote places on earth. We understand
that beneath a hot African sky, a dip in a cool pool can
matter almost as much as the sighting of a leopard’s
tail hanging from a tree. But a great safari is also about
elegant simplicity, of sundowners beneath broad

acacias and the sound of Grevy zebras calling out to
each other in the night. Led by specialists who have this
continent running through their veins, such journeys are
about rediscovering what it means to be free, to feel a
sense of passion and experience the force of wilderness
untouched by man. Put another way, a Red Savannah
safari has the power to reignite the soul.

CELEBRATING LIFE
To sit around a camp fire under star-filled skies, to
listen to the music of tribal elders, hear the breath of
gorillas, balloon over deserts, sleep under canvas and
wake up to a blushing dawn – in Africa, the pursuit of
the exceptional delivers every time. We make it our
business to turn each trip into a celebration, be it a
milestone anniversary savouring the renowned
vintages of the Western Cape, a stunning dhow
cruise amidst a kaleidoscope of blues around the
archipelago of Mozambique, or a magical bush dinner,
set against an ethereal backdrop of a million stars.
For honeymooners, we find beds atop kopjes or
indulgent villas on pearl-white Mozambican sands.
For children, learn the art of tracking big game.
For teenagers, snorkelling expeditions off some of
the best reefs in the world. And for parents who need
a break, a clutch of African nannies to let you relax
completely as you dip your toes in Lake Malawi
while staying in the country’s best private house.

PURE ACTION AND ADVENTURE
In the African wilderness, fluid logistics and intelligent
expertise count for everything. At Red Savannah, our
knowledge runs deep, thus keeping you informed as
you journey into the heart of the continent to discover
her raw drama and endless beauties on action-packed
adventures. To immerse you more completely, we

canoes, camels, Land Cruisers, even vintage biplanes
flown by bush pilots who call the Mara their backyard.
And so the excitement begins, from hovering low
over kopjes in state-of-the-art helicopters, to walking
with bushmen in the Makgadikgadi Salt Pans. In the
company of people who know, the empty horizon
becomes populated with the most unexpected thrills.

THE LAND OF PYRAMIDS
AND PHAROAHS, NEFERTITI
AND TUTANKHUMUN
NILE ADVENTURES
From the dawn of civilisation to the dramatic political
sea changes of recent times, Egypt has for centuries
stood at the forefront of new beginnings. Land of
ancient wonder and mysterious Gods, from
the archaeological splendours of the Pharaohs to
the jewels of the Nile, Egypt has so much to offer
even the most seasoned travellers.
Cairo represents the Egyptian heart, showcasing the
country’s fascinatingly rich heritage with the Great
Pyramid of Giza representing the oldest of the Seven
Wonders of the Ancient World. To immerse oneself
in the treasures of Tutankhamun within the Museum
of Egyptian Antiquities is to behold 3,000 years of
history. From Cairo, a cruise down the Nile leads to
the ancient capital, Thebes (now Luxor), gateway to
the Valley of the Kings and Queens and the magnificent
Temple of Karnak. Further south, at palm-fringed
Aswan, sail aboard a traditional felucca to pay homage
at the Temples of Philae and Kalabsha before a
pilgrimage to Abu Simbel, an awesome example
of sheer archaeological brilliance.

AN EXOTIC FUSION OF KASBAHS
AND DESERT, OCEAN AND MOUNTAINS
MOUNTAINS, MINARETS AND MEDINAS
Morocco represents a heady cocktail of cultural
vibrancy, authentic simplicity, visual intensity and
proud tradition. And nowhere does this better than
Marrakech, a city of snake charmers and acrobats,
of hessian sacks bursting with colourful spices and
smoke-infused aromas emanating from the food
stalls of the souks. Yet move beyond the red city walls
and you’ll encounter a Morocco of yet deeper diversity.
Erg Chebbi’s vast desert panoramas; the dramatic
mountain gorges and winding valleys of Dadès and
Todra; the palaces and minarets of imperial Fès
and Meknès; the surf-friendly, whitewashed streets
of coastal Essaouira and the timeless Kasbah towns
of Telouet and Ait Ben Haddou: the silver screen: the
landscapes change in a blink of an eye. And nowhere
does comfort need to be sacrificed for authenticity.
Traditional riads hidden within the medinas,
world class hotels, in Marrakech and beyond, and
tented camps set within rolling sand dunes perfectly
cater for every desire.

SYBARITIC PLEASURES IN A WORLD
OF EXTRAVAGANCE AND STYLE
A DESERT PLAYGROUND
A land of frankincense and copper, minarets and
mosques, deep wadis cutting through rugged
mountain ranges, these noble emirates and
sultanate share a proud heritage and landscape rich
in visual and architectural ingenuity. Today there are
three major players on the travel scene, seamlessly
blending old with new, steadfastly retaining a strong
sense of Arabian identity whilst forging ahead into
the 21st Century. Dubai and Abu Dhabi glitter from
the warm Arabian Sea to the towers of their opulent
hotels and exciting theme parks, whereas Oman offers
a more understated charm. Private yachts jostle for
position alongside traditional sailing dhows in the
bustling ports of Muscat and Salalah, ancient forts
and mud house villages line the rose-perfumed valleys
of the Al Hajar and silent nothingness stretches across
the aptly named Empty Quarter. Across this sea of
sand, desert camps weave their nomadic lives before
disappearing like a mirage.

THE TEXTURE OF ASIAN CULTURE IS
REVEALED IN FACES ANCIENT AND NEW
A MELTING POT OF CULTURES
In the hustle of modern Asia, where populations boom
with the speed of their new economies, Asia’s past
continues to keep its hold. Perhaps nowhere on earth
does the serendipitous encounter come to matter more.
A conversation with a novice monk turns into a visit
to a monastery. A face at Angkor Wat becomes a story
of 20th-century Cambodia nobody can forget. From the
colourful festivals of Rajasthan to the clang of cymbals

in Bhutan, the sights and sounds are as memorable
as the meditative chants that fill Sri Lanka’s hills.
Asia hasn’t thrown the old out with the new but
rather lets the two co-exist for everyone to share –
in crumbling mosques, pulsating temples, forgotten
Mughal fortresses and more, the best of which Red
Savannah will weave into intelligently crafted journeys
for cultivated souls.
PROUD AND ATTENTIVE, IT IS THE
PEOPLE WHO GIVE ASIA’S RESORTS
THEIR MATCHLESS SPIRIT
EXTRAORDINARY RESORTS
Asia’s legendary hospitality sets a high bar. Whether
staying in a palace hotel dating back to the days of the
Raj, a classic grande dame in Hanoi’s French Quarter
or a tented camp on Thailand’s Golden Triangle, your
every wish is anticipated with instinctive foresight.
It’s the warmest of greetings on arrival, the towel
proffered before you’re even out of the water and the
fresh lime soda served on the Mughal terrace that puts
the Asian service ethic on a justly deserved pedestal.
Well-being here is a holistic experience, with resort
hotels considering world class spas and restorative
treatments a matter of national pride. Add to this the
sheer variety of great cuisine – the salt and sweet of
Thailand, the curries of south India, the buckwheat
noodles of Bumthang – and you begin to understand
their revival comes in many forms – spiritual, mental
and complete culinary paradise.

AND SPIRITUALITY CONVERGE
ASIA
HIMALAYAN MAJESTY
Here the titanic forces of nature have created majestic
peaks that reach for the sky and rivers that cascade
through deep valleys. This is a land where ancient
cultures and religions remain peacefully sheltered,
with a pace of life continuing unfettered as it has since
time immemorial. Historic Bhutanese monasteries
cling to precipitous mountainsides, prayer flags flutter
gently in the cool breeze as the haunting wail of the
dungchen accompanies the quiet contemplation
observed under ancient Bodhi trees. Here tradition
endures – the chanting of monks mark evening prayer,
all-seeing eyes watch from ancient stupas and living

goddesses preside over festivals from wood carved
palaces created by Newari kings.
Walking along ancient village trails through the
Himalayan regions of Sikkim and Ladakh one is
transported to a rural way of life long forgotten in the
West, where fertile valleys are dotted with apricot
orchards and rhododendron trees dissected by fast
flowing rivers. Our journeys take you on a quest to seek
the undiscovered, untouched areas of the Himalayas, a
land where time almost stands still and where output
is measured in gross domestic happiness.

To fly across the coral dots that comprise the Maldives
reveals the simple allure of the Indian Ocean, its cobalt
blues shot through with smudges of creamy sand.
Low-slung palms cut elegant silhouettes as the sun
completes its arc, the sea so flat it ’s as if one can see the
cur vature of the earth. In the Seychelles, granitic boulders
fight for space with the lush tropical vegetation that
tumbles into the waves.
In Mauritius, there’s much that remains authentic to this
culturally rich Creole island where India meets Africa and
far more besides. Melting pots all, the Indian Ocean is
easily accessed with numerous direct flights from all over
the world as well as sybaritic stopovers in the ultra-modern
hubs of Dubai and Abu Dhabi. With new contenders such
as Madagascar pulling rank , let Red Savannah guide you

In Madagascar, the jungle sprouts in shoots of green
that split the shells of fallen seeds. On Mahé in the
Seychelles, the land is so richly forested it’s easy to
discern the origin of its old name, Île de l’Abondance.
With roadside stalls selling crab, and the air thick
with the scent of lemongrass and bougainvillea, the
Indian Ocean is a region where a resort better be well
designed because the natural world sets a very
high bar. From private islands a short hop by seaplane,
to intimate resorts for families, from stilted villas that
are only reached by boat, to lively hotels where
teenagers can safely dance away the night – we’ll
guide you through the vast variety on offer, drilling
down to the details that count by listening to what
matters to you most.

THE
AMERICAS
Often referred to as the New World, the Americas are in
fact one of the richest places on earth for natural and
man-made heritage. Centuries of adventurers, discoverers
and traders from all over the globe, notably Europe, made
their mark on a continent which reaches from pole to pole,
from the Yukon River to the Strait of Magellan.
The resultant melting pot of cultures makes the Americas
one of the most fascinating and diverse places on earth.
How does one compare the peaks of the Rockies or
Patagonia with the wide-open landscapes of Montana,
or the timeless wilderness of Vancouver Island? Dense
Amazonian rainforest rivals glacial Chilean fjords, ancient
villages of the Incas juxtapose the relentlessly energetic
and cosmopolitan cities of Buenos Aires or Rio. A journey
of discovery to the Americas, whether north, central or
south, is both inspiring and life-enhancing.

SOUTH AMERICAN SOUL
A sultry, passionate Argentine tango in the dance
halls of Buenos Aires, the flamboyant spectacle of a
thousand samba dancers raising the roof on the Rio
Carnival, nightclubs pulsating to the seductive sounds
of salsa; if you’re looking to party, then nowhere does
it better than South America. Where soccer and samba
are the linchpins of Brazilians at play, Rio is the ultimate
party destination, a city where carefree, caipirinhaclasping cariocas soak up the sun on the world-famous
beaches of Ipanema and Copacabana. When tired
of partying, there is much to sooth jaded bodies and
minds at barefoot, hippy chic coastal retreats such as
Trancoso or Brigitte Bardot’s favourite hang-out,
Buzios, where surfer dudes mix with urban socialites.
In Argentina and Chile, New World vines grace
Mendoza and the Maipo Valley inviting the oenologist
to savour yet another flavour of South America.

RURAL RETREATS AND
COASTAL HIDEAWAYS
HIDDEN GEMS
Europe must surely lay claim to some of the most
recognised landscapes from Tuscany to the Greek
islands, yet it still has the power to surprise and delight.
Outside the famous cities lie pretty harbour towns, tiny
hilltop borgos reached by criss-cross lanes and ancient
villages clinging to vertiginous cliff faces. Amongst these
rural and coastal retreats are a collection of undisputed
hidden gems, character properties full of personality
and charm.

Our portfolio includes immaculate restorations of
ancient Tuscan borgos, traditional stone bastides
hidden amidst the vineyards of the Luberon,
Mediterranean manor houses set deep in charming
ochre villages high above the shores of the Balearics,
Greek and Turkish legends and the Sicilian splendour
of Taormina, perfectly contrasted against the boho-chic
of the Aeolian Islands.

FAMILY & RESORT HOTELS
When travelling en famille, chances are that the
holiday desires of your beloved offspring may be very
different to your own. The joy of Europe is not only its
proximity to home, but its enticing mix of sun-drenched
beaches, glittering seas and family-friendly hotels
and hideaways that not only cater for the little people
in your life, but very often the older ones as well.
Our iconic hotel portfolio features a number of
family-oriented properties, each with their own
individual character and style. Whether you opt for
authentic Apulian or Provençal charm where the
children can roam free amongst olive groves and
orchards of lemon trees, or choose to relax at a luxury
island resort hotel set on the white sands bordering
the crystal-clear waters of the Mediterranean,
inquisitive minds and thrill seekers of every age
will be justly rewarded.

GULET SAILING
The sun beating down from a brilliant blue sky, white
sails billowing against a refreshing easterly breeze,
perfectly complimenting the glittering Aegean Sea
that dazzles, dances and ripples as the bow
seamlessly cuts through aquamarine waters – this is
gulet sailing at its best. As you slip into the waters for
an invigorating morning swim before a deliciously
simple breakfast overlooking a deserted bay, the day
stretches out before you to do with as little or as

much as you desire. To explore Homer’s land of eternal
blue – hidden coves and secret inlets, historic sites
and ancient cities – is a very special journey, yet to do
so aboard the timeless splendour of a traditional gulet
takes coastal sailing to an altogether different level.
Lovingly crafted by Turkish artisans from the finest

classical in design, yet deliver a contemporary style

FARMHOUSES & PALAZZI
We know our Italian portfolio intimately – we make
it our business to sleep on their mattresses, taste the
basil from their kitchen gardens, sample the cook’s
risotto and check out the temperature of the infinity
pool. We’ve walked the estates of the pretty Val d’Elsa,
viewed the golf course at Castiglion del Bosco and
marvelled at traditional methods of pressing olives and
gathering truffles from ancient woodlands.
Within all this splendour we’ve found properties that
perfectly capture the essence of the region. Rustic
farmhouses in Umbria carefully restored to present day

palazzi with a hint of Ferragamo, all selected for their
charm, style and authenticity.

THE ESSENCE OF LUXURY VILLA LIVING

RIVIERA CHIC
Synonymous with sophistication and epitomised by
extravagance, the French Riviera has long been
defined by glamour and chic. From the decadent,
ultra-cool urban retreats of St Tropez to the tranquil
villages of the arrières-pays, this is a region where
style is limited only by imagination. Our villas are
designed to suit every taste, from the contemporary
minimalism of St Jean Cap Ferrat to beautifully
restored farmhouses in the backcountry of nearby
Mougins and St Paul de Vence. We instinctively know
the houses hidden down private tracks between
La Garde Freinet with its pretty chestnut trees and
Grimaud, a few miles inland from the Riviera’s coast –
a place of great charm that belongs to an older,
more tranquil way of life.

RURAL PROVENCE
Peppered with historic bastides, restored pigeonniers
and converted mas, the Provençal landscape provides
a tempting and diverse setting for time spent with
friends and family. A week in Provence is literally a
sensual feast on an epic scale. Perhaps part of the
allure is the shopping in old streets of Saint-Rémyde-Provence, lingering lunches in the bistros of
Bonnieux, or the plentiful vineyards that provide
some fine vintages for your villa’s private cellar.

Perhaps it is the festivals and rich architectural
landscapes of Aix or Avignon, or the freedom to
walk ancient shepherd paths in the Luberon amongst
sun-kissed panoramas straight from the canvases of
Cézanne. But one thing we can be sure of is this: that
amongst the rosemary and lavender we have pools
you will never want to leave – not for culture, not for
restaurants, not even for a single glamorous boutique!

WHERE PASSION AND PRIDE REIGN
SUPREME, SPAIN STANDS TALL AMONGST
ITS CONTINENTAL COUNTERPARTS
MOUNTAIN RETREATS & ISLAND IDYLLS
From the sun-baked southern plains of Andalucia to
the secret coves of the Balearic islands, Spain combines
the classic with the cosmopolitan. A land where
passions run deep, cultural identity is celebrated at
every opportunity and the good life is the cornerstone
of existence. Spain is a magnificent country of contrasts
whose diverse topography ranges from the mountain
peaks of the Picos to the Mediterranean coastline and
outlying islands, where the air is filled with citrus and
pine and the traditional meets the trendsetting.
Our Spanish villa experts have sought and found
the most stylish retreats: Stay in a chic Andalucian
cortijo nestled in the mountains with views to the
Mediterranean taking culinary voyages of discovery
by night and enjoying in-house pampering by day;
or discover the secret fincas and minimalist-cool crash
pads of northern Ibiza and Mallorca, where you may
party at Cala Jondal or simply unwind in the mountains
of the Tramuntanas.

SPANISH SOJOURNS TO STIR THE
SOUL, FROM SOUTHERN PLAINS
TO NORTHERN PRIDE
CATALONIA TO ANDALUCIA
Defined by a history full of drama and glory and
shaped by its artistic and architectural riches, this is
a land that quite simply intrigues and inspires. To the
north, Catalonia is a proud autonomous community,
with a rich heritage and distinct language, setting it
apart from its southern contemporaries. Barcelona
exudes a sophistication and cultural dynamism way
ahead of the rest whilst inland, medieval Girona and
Dalí’s Figueres provide an alluring backdrop to our
classic Catalan offerings.
Whilst the north may lead the charge towards
modernity, southern Spain is where one finds the core
values and traditional pursuits. Amongst the Moorish
architecture of Córdoba, Granada and Seville, Andalucía
pulsates to the beat of flamenco. Whether you choose
a sophisticated finca set high in the hills west of
Granada, or a country house surrounded by ancient
woodland behind the traditional town of Benahavis,
our passion for Spain resonates at every level.

ISLAND ESCAPES – THE BALEARICS
With its roots steeped in Roman and Arab rule, and
with a fiery sense of independence, the Mallorca of
today is splendid panoply of gastronomy, culture and
physical beauty. Sweet-smelling citrus groves exist in
harmonious tranquillity alongside charming fishing
villages, ancient port towns and smart marinas,
inducing an intoxicating charm that reaches far beyond
one’s imagination. Our island villas can be hidden deep
amongst ochre villages in the spectacular Tramuntana
Mountains, or positioned regally along the sun-blessed
Mediterranean shores of this beautiful coastline.

And what of its Balearic sister? Since early Phoenician
settlers named this diminutive island after their God of
Music, Ibiza has long gained a reputation for free spirit
and interminable decadence. Yet from the craggy coves
and turquoise bays to the pine-clad hills, this dynamic
Spanish island mesmerises through its diversity.
Our contemporary island collection complements the
captivating energy and spiritual way of life so inherent
within the Ibizan character.
