JOHOR BHARU, A housewife who thought that she had a good bargain when she bought a cell phone from a
makeshift stall outside the market was horrified when the cell phone exploded when it was used. The woman
who wanted to be identified as May said that she was amazed at the wonder of the cell phone when the stall
owner demonstrated how it worked. May felt that RM150 for the cell phone was a good bargain. She happily
lugged the cell phone home. When she tried to operate the cell phone it made a loud growling sound and
exploded. May escaped with some superficial wounds. She later went back to the market place to look for
the seller but was unable to find him. She later lodged a complaint at the Consumer Association. The public
is warned not to buy electrical products sold by the roadside but from shops and authorised outlets.

Listen to the text.
There are many reasons why we should walk instead of driving. First, it saves the planet. It also saves
money on petrol. It even saves us parking fees besides having to spend time looking for a parking space.
Another reason why we should walk is that it is a good form of exercise. It helps to burn calories and keeps
us fit and strong. Sometimes walking can be faster than driving. We often underestimate the time we spend
driving, thinking that a 10-minute journey may only take two minutes. We often do not take into account the
unavoidable extra time involved, either, looking for our keys, filling up with petrol, and not to mention the
time spent on the road as a result of traffic jam.
