Dear Graduate,
Like many book authors, each of you have created a one-of-a-kind and limited edition in your
own “Book of My School Life”. Each chapter, grades Kindergarten through your Senior year,
is an exhibition that represents your individual personal evolution and growth. During this
journey, I believe that each one of you could and would say that your teachers, along with the
many professional and service personnel in your respective schools were essential to shaping
your identity. Those educators, along with your parents and family members, have been with
you throughout this journey teaching and encouraging you to stay focused in preparation for
your “Graduation Day and the “Next Chapter of Your Life”!
As each of you exit the graduation stage and make your entrance onto the stage of post-secondary colleges, universities, trade schools, the workplace, etc. while establishing your future
careers and families; always know that your Wayne County School family continues to cheer
for each and every one of you as you set new goals. Never settle for mediocrity, do not take
the easy road. As Ralph Waldo Emerson said; “Do not follow where the path may lead. Go,
instead, where there is no path and leave a trail”. I encourage each of you to accept challenges
and risks because you are capable of many things beyond your current skill levels.

Your “Book of My School Life” holds the stories, friendships, and memories that flood your mind as you prepare for your special Graduation Day. How exciting
each chapter of your school life has been. However, graduation is that time when you now close the cover, put down this volume, and realize it is time to move
on. Keep all the contents in your heart and perhaps there will be times when you wish there could have been a few more pages.
After graduation, many of you may not see each other again. Remember each other with love. You may not see each other in person, but in your minds and
memories on the playground where you ran and played and laughed together; Hold onto those memories, keep them ever fresh, ever new; continue to see each
other with the eyes of memory. Cherish those memories as something very special ----- something very special indeed.
In closing, as Nora Ephron said, “Your education is a dress rehearsal for a life that is yours to lead”. As you begin your next journey, I impart to each graduate
the words of An Old Irish Blessing:
May the road rise up to meet you.
May the wind always be at your back.
May the sun shine upon your face,
and rain fall soft upon your fields.
And until we meet again,
May God hold you in the palm of His hand.
