System concept
Kaba exos 9300 is a comprehensive system solution for access control, access point management
and time & attendance. Comprehensive functions for monitoring and control of different building
facilities have been integrated in the system. These functions include elevator and illumination control
as well as intrusion monitoring.
With a large number of modular sub-applications available, the user has nearly unlimited possibilities
for expanding the functional scope.
Thanks to its scalability, Kaba exos 9300 can be placed in both simple and complex customer networks (LAN/WAN). The use of standard components means that existing network security
mechanisms such as firewalls or data encryption may be utilized.
Here, the software and database may be either installed on a single computer or installed separately
on different computers.
®
®
System data is saved in Microsoft or Oracle databases. This selection option offers the operator
freedom of choice regarding the database server operating system to be used.
Kaba exos® 9300 system

®
The applications utilize familiar, user-friendly Windows dialogs or a web client. The application offers
the option of parallel support for several languages within one system.
All Kaba exos system activities are recorded in the logbooks. These include user actions, reader registrations, automatic system actions, status changes and events at peripherals or communication routes
as well as attempts at unauthorized access.
On-line monitoring means that the status of the entire system is evident at all times. Such events as
alarms or the opening of a door are displayed in real time at the interactive workstation. In this system
interconnection, the database server (DB-S) manages the central data and distributes these to the
respective communication hubs (CH).
The communication hub combines the data traffic in local networks; there is at least one
communication hub present in each system. The data is distributed among the peripherals and
accounting made, on time and independent of the type of connection selected. The communication
hub also forwards events to the database server and temporarily stores data whenever network
malfunctions occur.
Access hubs (AH) control doors and other building facilities by means of the connected door
managers and readers. Registration of access and/or time & attendance authorization takes place
here as well. The access hubs' high level of autonomy means that at the same security level,
operation is ensured even without the communication hub.
Its expanded tenant function also makes Kaba exos 9300 an optimal choice for security companies
1
operating an access control system for one or more clients (ASP ). Moreover, the server infrastructure
can be optimally financed and operated. Office and technology parks are another area of application.
Here, within the overall system, tenants can independently and flexibly manage their data.
System requirements
Oracle and SQL server need sufficient system ressources for an optimal performance. Using a fast
2
RAID system is also advantageous. The Applicationservice and interactive workstations require
®
Microsoft NET Framework. For details refer to Technical documentation.

Microsoft® SQL Server 2000 licensing
Basic information
®
There are various licensing procedures for the Microsoft SQL Server. The optimum license can differ
for every project. It depends on different criteria. The existing license plays a role in this. The number
of servers and processors as well as the number of clients is also important. It is often difficult to find
®
the optimum licensing solution. This is illustrated by the wide range of courses offered by Microsoft
on the subject of licensing.
The following information is intended to help you in licensing matters.
Current information on licensing can be found under
http://www.microsoft.com/uk/partner/licensing_and_compliance/principles_of_licensing/
SQL Server variants
®
Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Enterprise Edition
®
This involves the complete SQL Server offer from Microsoft . This edition offers the features for
scaling and reliability with divided and partitioned views, protocol dispatch and improved failover
cluster support. They are necessary for company-wide and branch-specific solutions and Internet
scenarios. In addition, all of the advantages of high-end hardware with support for up to 32 CPUs and
64 GB RAM are utilized.
®
Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Standard Edition
This edition is an affordable option for small and medium enterprise. This license can be used if no
advanced features for scalability and reliability are required. This license does not include the
advanced analysis features of the SQL Server 2000 Enterprise Edition. The Standard Edition can be
used on systems with symmetrical multiprocessing and up to 4 CPUs and 2 GB of RAM.
The less expensive Standard Edition is completely sufficient to operate a Kaba exos 9300 system. If
®
the customer already has Microsoft SQL Server 2000 Enterprise Edition license, this is also not a
problem.
6 
Kaba exos 9300 Product catalog MEA - Edition 1/05
Licensing variants
Per processor licensing
Under the terms of this new model, the customer receives one processor license for each processor
that runs the server software. If the server has more than one processor, a separate license must be
purchased for every processor on this server. Processor licenses can be used in every Internet,
extranet or Intranet scenario.
A processor license includes access for an unlimited number of users/devices to create a connection
to the LAN or WAN of the company or outside of the firewall.
Per seat licensing
In addition to the processor licenses, SQL Server 2000 also has separate Standard and Enterprise
server licenses. Per seat licenses (CAL –Client Access License) are also available. This licensing is
oriented to the customer who do not use web-based scenarios.
Server license
A server license (Standard or Enterprise Edition) is required for every server on which the
corresponding edition of the SQL Server 2000 software is installed.
Client access license
An SQL Server 2000 client access license is required so that a device (e.g. a PC, a workstation, a
®
terminal, PDA, cell phone, etc.) can access or use the services and functions of the Microsoft SQL
Server 2000 Edition.
Special case
When using the SQL Server 2000 in an Intranet (not Internet), customers can select the less
expensive licensing option. Companies with several SQL Server 2000 installations (especially severs
with several processors) can usually save costs by purchasing server licenses with CALs per seat. In
this case, the application cannot be expanded to include the Internet.
Kaba exos® 9300 system
7
®
Necessary SQL licenses for Kaba exos 9300
Regardless of the SQL Server version (Enterprise or Standard Edition), the licensing procedure
remains the same. Either the processor licensing or the server/per seat license is used. As soon as
web applications and/or many clients are used, the processor licensing variant should be used (except
for special cases). For smaller systems without web applications, it makes sense to select a server/per
seat licensing up to a certain amount of clients. As a rule, the least expensive variant should be used.
The following components must be licensed:
Database server
Either a server license or a processor license is used. If per processor licensing is used, no further
licenses are required for the whole system.
The following licenses are only required if the server is not licensed per processor.
Applicationservice
As a rule, the application service is installed in the first communications center. A client access license
(referred to as CAL) is required for this. The application service is only installed once in every system.
Interactive workstation
Every Kaba exos interactive workstation requires a CAL license. In this case, it is important to know
that every installed control station and not just every registered computer must be licensed. This
license can be used by several users on the same computer (depending on the device).
Workstation
Every workstation, that accesses Kaba exos 9300 in the Intranet using a browser, requires a CAL. If
the access is made over the Internet, then only processor licensing is required. The CALs are not
required in this case.
Communication hub
As the communication hubs do not communicate directly with the SQL Server, no SQL licenses are
required in this case.

Example 1
No web server, the customer does not have an SQL server in operation. In this case a server / per
seat licensing is suitable.
The following are required:
1 server license for the database server
7 CAL licenses (1 application service and 6 interactive workstations)
At the current market prices (prices per dealer and time vary widely) one processor license for one
database server with one processor would be less expensive from 20 - 30 CALs. In this case whether
the server license already contains CAL must also be taken into consideration. Often CALs are only
offered in packages of 5.
Example 2
The conditions are the same as for example 1, however with web applications.
As soon as web applications are used, a per processor license is suitable (see chapter Special case
on page 7.
Example 3
The customer already has an SQL Server in use.
In this case, the licensing will need discussing with the customer. If he already has processor licenses,
no further licensing is necessary.
If the customer has server/per seat licensing in use, the necessary CALs must be purchased. In this
procedure, the customer should consider if converting to processor licensing would make sense in his
case.

Oracle® 9i database licensing
Licensing is very similar to that for the MS SQL. Many companies which use Oracle often have special
agreements for licensing. For this reason, this will not be discussed further in this document.

Kaba exos® 9300 Access control
®
Option for Kaba exos 9300
The access control application of Kaba exos systems protects people, property and information from
unauthorized access. It is also an excellent organization and management tool for company
processes, which reduces the administrative overhead considerably.
Particularly effective in the access control sector, the multi-level security concept of Kaba exos
guarantees the highest level of availability.
On the basis of the security deployment of the product, you then decide to WHOM, WHEN, WHERE
and HOW access to the controlled area is allocated. The defined security areas are shown in the
system, together with the applicable access points. A profile is defined for each group of persons,
putting a time limit on the access rights to the different areas. This grouping of access rights enables
you to make adjustments to the system easily and efficiently –when processing new persons or
making changes to the security deployment. The group rights of individual persons can also be
extended or restricted by means of personal access rights. A time limit can also be put on the validity
of these rights.
The access control concept in the Kaba exos system enables you to react quickly and flexibly to
changing requirements, while providing optimal investment protection. Such changes can range from
increasing security requirements for area access, extended access control functions or increased
convenience requirements.
The identification of a badge can be enhanced with the additional verification of PIN code or
biometrics without problems. This functional and mechanical modularity of the components allows you
to make changes while retaining the reader / door manager, without having to undertake structural
alterations.
If you require additional access functions, you can add to the Kaba exos system using the badge
production and management options, image verification, alarm graphics and visitor management.
Interfaces are also available for online data exchange with other systems (e.g. building management
and control panels).
Besides the control and management functions, all the information on access by persons and system
alarms is of the utmost importance.
Options Kaba exos® 9300
 13
If the user requires information about the access of persons to particular rooms, he will find it in the
logbooks. To speed up the search, this information is classified in different categories, which may also
be adapted as required. A chronological online view is provided. Lists can be created directly in the
®
®
dialog, or with programs such as Microsoft Excel or Microsoft Access. An alarm can be generated
for every message, which is displayed to the user in real time, with the option of an acoustic signal. All
the system messages are also displayed alongside the access messages.
The AC license supports the complete access point management of the access hubs and an unlimited
number of access profiles. The binary data points function for integrating inputs and outputs of the
access hubs is included in the AC SW license.
The AC SW license for reading heads/access points can be put together in any way.
Example:
An AC SW license for 48 reading heads/access points consists of an AC SW license for 16
readers/access points and an AC SW license for 32 readers/access points.

Kaba exos® 9300 Visitor management
®
Option for Kaba exos 9300
Kaba exos Visitor management offers you an effective modular supplement to the Kaba
exos 8300 / 9300 system. It is an additional module for the reduction of the administrative outlay of a
company.
The well-designed user interface permits intuitive operation and immediate use by reception
personnel. Lengthy induction times are therefore a thing of the past. User-friendly and fast visitor
check-in and check-out at the reception desk is therefore possible at any time. As most visitors
normally are registered in advance, only additional data such as the car registration number has to be
supplemented upon their arrival. Visitors who have already entered the premises previously can be
registered in once more without having to re-enter their personal data.
A badge and the required access authorizations are assigned and enabled with a few clicks of the
mouse. A visitor pass can also be automatically printed and issued. When the entered visiting time
has elapsed, the badge is automatically blocked. If the visit is terminated prematurely, visitors
surrender the badge at reception and are checked out and blocked in the system with a mouseclick.
Issue/surrendering of badges is simplified with the optional LEGIC dialog reader. The required badge
is thereby read in and automatically assigned to the visitor (upon entry) and withdrawn (upon exit).
Manual data input is no longer necessary in this case.
With the aid of a business card scanner it is even possible to enter the visitor data directly into the
system. If the visitor is prohibited access to the premises, it is no longer possible to issue a visitor's
badge. Each operation is logged and can be retraced within a previously defined period of time. It is
also possible, for example, to display all visitors who have not correctly checked out in one step.
With the supplementation of the optional Kaba exos Intranet dialog, visitors can be registered directly
by employees using a standard Web browser. With this module it is considerably easier and faster
to check visitors in and out at the reception desk.

If a member of staff has forgotten his or her badge, they can be assigned a transition badge in Kaba

high level of acceptance of operating personnel and conveys a positive impression to the visitor.

Kaba exos® 9300 Time & Attendance
®
Option for Kaba exos 9300
The Time & Attendance application of the Kaba exos 8300/9300 system collects and calculates staff
attendance and absence times, providing increased transparency and flexibility within a company.
The highly flexible concept enables a practically unlimited application of all the usual working time
regulations. Because of its ability to manage practically any working time model (e.g. flextime, fixed
time, shift and duty rosters), the T&A application is adept in accommodating a working world that
requires increasing flexibility.
The Time & Attendance application is essentially made up of three parts: the staff master data, the
T&A management, and an ingenious security concept which practically excludes the risk of losing the
important, comprehensive T&A data.
In the central staff master data, all the important data is collected and combined with the working
models defined in the T&A management specifically defined for the customer.
An automatic procedure calculates the time recordings for all persons one or more times a day, thus
working out the attendance and absence times for each person. The system administrator can make
®
all the time corrections via user-friendly Windows dialogs in the system.
The T&A data can be arranged, displayed and made available to the employees and management as
desired. You have the option of arranging printouts however you want them, as well as accessing the
®
data via Windows dialogs or the Web browser in the Intranet.
The available T&A data provides information at all times about the attendance status and planned
absences of the employees. This information can be made available to the switchboard and to every
employee in the Intranet.
With the aid of the intuitive planning board, you can graphically plan, correct and present employee
absences. With a click of the mouse you can record short- or long-term absences and update them
on-line to the T&A system. With the freely selectable screen presentation, the user can adapt the
planning board to meet his own requirements, which has a positive effect on his work efficiency.
The T&A application can also, if necessary, be combined with the access control application, so that
they share the use of the recording devices.

Kaba exos® 9300 Intranet applications
®
Option for Kaba exos 9300 Time & Attendance and Visitor Management
The Intranet application improves time transparency in a modern organization with spearhead
technology. Daily additional registration of omitted time bookings and absences requiring subsequent
registration by central administration are a thing of the past. The Kaba exos Intranet dialog provides
each employee with information on personal presence times. If the respective access authorization
has been granted, bookings can be directly corrected and subsequently entered, which results in
considerable central administration savings.
From Release 2.0 the Intranet dialog will be released with a new design (refer to illustration above).
This application contains all previously featured functions. In addition the personal access bookings for
all employees can be viewed. The login on this version is performed with a password (previously with
a PIN code).
Combined with an Intranet all employees are ensured access to the Kaba exos application from all
locations, also from branches or home offices. No decentralized installation of the application is
necessary.
The T&A data are simply and quickly made available to the user in a clear and well-structured view.
Data modifications are directly and intuitively made with the web browser. Employees are only able to
modify and sign their own personal time data. Supervisors are also able to view, correct and sign the
time data of their employees.
The Kaba exos system also updates accounts immediately after entry, permitting immediate
verification of input.
In addition to pure T&A functions, employees also have the option of changing their PIN code which is
valid throughout the system and used for access control.
If the Visitor management option is installed, employees can register their expected visitors in the
system. It is also possible to view the registered visitors at all times and change and delete as
required. This means that time-consuming filling-out of forms or e-mails is no longer necessary, as all
necessary data are directly entered into the web browser, lessening the workload of reception
personnel.
Options Kaba exos® 9300
 21
All staff data remain protected against unauthorized access in the Intranet secured with a firewall or by
secure transmission in the Internet. This safety concept practically excludes any possible loss of the
important and normally comprehensive T&A data.
With the web browser concept the workstations only require a standard Internet browser, irrespective
of the operating system or hardware. This permits the use of the existing workstation infrastructure
without additional installation costs.
SW license IA Time sheet view
For displaying personal time data sheets clearly arranged on a PC. Any printing and distribution of the
time data sheets is no longer necessary (cost savings), as the employees can view it on the PC and
print it out by themselves, if needed.
In a Kaba exos 9300 system the number of licensed persons for a time data sheet display does
not depend on the number of the TA persons.
SW license IA Registration
(requires SW license IA Time Sheet View)
License for making personal time registrations and corrections over the Intranet. Independent of the
amount of users or branches. Ideal for branches/remote stations as replacement of Terminals, as
there is no HW installation necessary and the costs are also much lower.

make any retroactive corrections. Only the supervisor can make retroactive corrections. After he gave
his approval (visa function), the time sheet is fixed and can only be viewed. From now on only an
authorized person can be make changes in the exos dialog.
Each user (supervisor) has to be licensed. If there are more than 30, only 30 users will be charged.
Advantage of the Intranet applications compared to standard dialogs
Intranet applications are pure server installations. That means the installation costs are always the
same, independent from the complexity of the system (Installation if the IIS and definition of the
access rights). Also for the maintenance, only the server has to be updated. So no travel expenses
occur e.g. for a regional bank with several small branches, in which the branch manager is responsible
for the presence time and corrections.

system, underlined by the integrated Ethernet interface.
The Kaba exos AMC is the result of consistent implementation of customer demands together with the
experience gained from the installed basis of the Kaba exos systems. Emphasis was placed both on
maintaining and protecting our customers investments as well as the employment of commercially
available state of the art technology.
The Kaba exos AMC replaces all available Kaba exos Access and Logic Manager versions with a

The functions of the Kaba exos AMC are fully based on the Kaba "Total Access" strategy. Whether
simple or complex access areas, a Kaba interlocking door or a Kaba automatic door have to be
controlled, all demands can be visualized with the graphic configuration in the Kaba exos dialog.
The access profiles created in the system are also stored in the Kaba exos AMC as the weekly
programs for controlling the data points, permitting fast and autonomous decisions.
Passage messages and alarms are signaled to the system operator in realtime and also saved. If
required the access areas and data points can be operated directly from the graphic system dialog.

Scale

Unit design
The Kaba exos AMC II is a sabotage-proof, if necessary, fully autonomous access hub for monitoring
and controlling access areas and data points. This is a variant of the proven Kaba exos AMC,
specifically optimized for use with RRM products and thus expanding the range of access hubs. The
Ethernet interface is used for on-line connection to the system.
In the RRM product range, the digital inputs and outputs (I/O) are built into the door managers; the use
of central I/O is thus now limited to certain applications, primarily for alarms. This has made it feasible
to reduce the I/O needed at the access hub, which in turn leads to reduced space requirements and a
lower price. The additional RS-485 bus allows reader operation for up to 32 doors, which reduces the
system costs per door as well.
To achieve completely maintenance-free operation, the use of movable parts (hard disks, fans) was
deliberately avoided here as well. The battery has been replaced with support capacitors to ensure
data retention in the event of a power failure.
With the more efficient power supply, it is now possible to power up to 10 access points from the
access hub. The cascading unit can be used for simple wiring and supply of additional access points.
The functions of the Kaba exos AMC II are fully based on the Kaba "Total Access" strategy. Whether
simple or complex access areas, a Kaba interlocking door or a Kaba automatic door have to be
controlled, all demands can be visualized with the graphic configuration in the Kaba exos dialog.
The access profiles created in the system are also stored in the Kaba exos AMC II as the weekly programs for controlling the data points, permitting fast and autonomous decisions.
Passage messages and alarms are signaled to the system operator in realtime and also saved. If
required the access areas and data points can be operated directly from the graphic system dialog

I/O controllers can be directed to a Kaba exos AMC/-II to the addresses 3-6 without an additional
license (e.g. Kaba exos AMC Flash 8 = eight AC readers plus four I/O controllers). However, in the
cases of Kaba exos AMC Flash 16 or 32, the maximum of 16 devices on the first RS-485 interface
should not be exceeded. In the case of Kaba exos AMC Flash 32, an additional maximum of 16
registration units/door managers can be connected to the second RS-485 interface.

Door manager
Remote Reader Modules (RRM) concept
Free design
Due to the fact that the reader is installed remotely from the door manager, any design is possible and
the system can therefore be simply adapted to suit the spatial and technical security demands of a
building.
Sabotage security
The corresponding door manager can be installed in a sabotage-proof room, irrespective of the
installation site of the reader.
Manipulation security
The opening mechanism in the cylinder or lock, the visual response (red/green LED) and the acoustic
signal transmitter of the antenna are code-controlled (LEGIC signal) through a coaxial cable.
Installation work is therefore also kept to a minimum.

Kaba exos - door manager LEGIC
High-saftey on a uniform platform
®
The door manager controls and monitors access points individually, reliably and inexpensively. These
include doors, turnstiles, elevators and data points. All parameters can be set on the unit.
The door manager offers various ranges of application because LEGIC offers a general platform.
Due to interior installation the device is secure. It is controlled and monitored from here. Only the
readers are in the external non-secure area.
With its simple wiring, installation of the door manager is very inexpensive.
Demand-oriented
access point management
With the door manager a comprehensive range of door constellations and components can be
controlled with ease. These include motor locks, tripod barriers, automatic doors and elevators and
even complex interlocking doors. The wide range of possible applications is enhanced with a number
of monitoring functions.
Progressive technology
The use of latest technologies emphasizes the innovative concept. LEGIC advant with the industry
standards ISO 15693 and LEGIC RF avouch for flexibility and safty - just like the simultaneous
processing of different badge definitions. This versatility units LEGIC badges of different generations in
one system and secures investments.
Door manager
 41
Ensure security
The security of access point management is safeguarded at all times. The door manager is installed at
a tamper-proof location, physically separate from the reader. The unit is also monitored for
manipulation by tamper switches. Moreover, each interruption or short circuit of the inputs are realized
and reported automatically. However, security is also guaranteed when communication with the
access hub is interrupted. If this occurs the door manager assumes the system tasks. It identifies
badge numbers, and in the case of higher security requirements additionally PIN codes or biometry
data. All operations are logged and then signaled to the system as soon as this is once more online.
Access is therefore guaranteed and safeguarded at all times.
Freely extensible
The door manager is open to a number of extension options. In addition to two readers a number of
special applications can also be connected. For example keyboards (PIN code), biometry, wide-range
solutions or intelligent large revolving doors. Furthermore the door manager supports special
protocols. Everything is therefore already prepared for subsequent installations. Extension modules
are available for the implementation of additional functions. This is possible at any time and with
minimum fuss.
Inexpensive installation
Wide functionality - low installation costs. Configuration and connection is local. Directly on the door
manager. The door contacts do not require extensive cabling to the higher-level access hubs. This is
particularly advantageous when retrofitting existing systems.

Simple migration
The door manager not only adapts to control requirements, but also to existing installations which can
be converted or expanded step-by-step. Previously employed readers (with Wiegand or clock/data

Kaba exos® LS-110
Door manager for antennas, registration unit with keypad, biometric registration unit, cylinders and
®
locks as access component for the Kaba exos system
Scale 1:2
Unit description
The Kaba exos LS-110 door manager is an approved member of the RRM product line (Remote
Reader Module). With its inputs and outputs and integrated LEGIC module the Kaba exos LS-110
controls and monitors the access point. Thereby configuration and cabling are performed directly at
the door manager. This saves involved cabling of all door contacts to the access hubs, especially for
retrofitting of existing systems.
The memory for movement data and authorized badges as well as the integrated access point
management permit autonomous access decisions. With integrated access logging the operation of
monitored access points can always be guaranteed –even if the connection to the access hub is
interrupted.
The Kaba exos LS-110 door manager together with the wide range of registration units combines full
design flexibility with simple installation. This concept is particularly underlined with the surfacemounted registration units with or without keypad as well as the Kaba exos lock.

®
Door manager for antennas, cylinders and locks as access component for the Kaba exos system
Scale 1:2
Unit description
The door manager Kaba exos LS-100 is the basis for the remote registration units RRM. Due to the
fact that the registration unit is installed remotely from the door manager, any design is possible and
the system can therefore be simply adapted to suit the spatial and technical security demands of a
building.
The corresponding door manager can be installed in a sabotage-proof room, irrespective of the
installation site of the registration unit. From the door manager, the opening mechanism in the cylinder
or lock, the visual response (red/green LED) and the acoustic signal transmitter of the registration unit
are code-controlled through a coaxial cable. Installation work is therefore kept to a minimum.
The modularity of the door manager Kaba exos LS-100 and the different variations of registrations
units allows to target different LEGIC operating ranges (magnetic fields), resulting in different reading
distances or reading areas based on the used identification media.
With the help of a service mode, configurable by a DIP-Switch, the maintainability has been increased.
Even if there is no host system in operation, the functionality of the installation can be tested.
If the connection to the access hub is for some reason interrupted, then the door manager operates in
the off-line mode, i.e. the earlier defined company codes and/or badge numbers will still be checked.

Kaba exos® LR-100
Compact door manager with integrated LEGIC antenna for indoor applications as an access
®
component of the Kaba exos system
Scale 1:2
Unit description
Kaba exos LR-100 is a compact door manager. This peripheral device is an advantageous
supplement for the RRM program (remote reader modules). It is especially suitable for use indoors.
Advantages of the compact door manager are:

 Especially compact solutions which combine the registration unit with the control electronics

 Inexpensive solution for access control

 If the access hub breaks down, operation can still be guaranteed (emergency operation)
The Kaba exos LR-100 door manager with integrated LEGIC antenna organizes access to building
interiors. This component is an efficient supplement to our RRM range (Remote Reader Modules),
which is particularly suitable for outdoor use and for control of complex access points.
The properties and functional scope of Kaba exos LR-100 have been especially optimized for interior
applications. With the highly integrated electronic components for access point control and monitoring,
it is a particularly compact and inexpensive solution for access control.
The robust reading properties of the integrated LEGIC antenna even permit direct mounting on metal
surfaces while maintaining excellent function and convenient user identification. The integrated display
elements signal both the operating mode and access decision visually as well as acoustically.
Kaba exos LR-100 can be installed and taken into operation immediately. It is directly connected by
screw/plug terminals to the higher-level system via an RS-485 bus cable and is configured with DIPswitches.
All access point components are wired directly on the door manager at the installation point. This
saves complex wiring of the door contacts to the higher-level system, especially when existing
systems are retrofitted.
Not only a frame contact, but also a door opener key or door handle contact can be connected for
monitoring of the access point. The door opener is activated by the fitted relay.
Even if the connection to the higher-level system is interrupted, Kaba exos LR-100 reliably monitors
the access point and is therefore fully operational when off-line. This ensures maximum availability of
the access control system.
With direct wiring of the door contacts from the access hub, the Kaba exos LR-100 may be used as
conventional reader as well.

Registration unit Biover II
®
Registration unit for biometric verification as a option to the door manager Kaba exos LS-1xx and
DML2
Scale 1:2
Unit description
With Biover II an additional component is added to our RRM products. It is small and can be integrated
in sluices or person isolation systems, thus saving space.
Biover II can be operated either off-line or in an interconnected system. Integration in a Kaba exos
access control system is possible without any problems, as is its use with decentralized solutions.
As opposed to established methods, Biover II strictly separates the one-time registration of the
templates from their daily verification by the registration unit. The fingerprint data are recorded using a
computer at a workplace. The sensitive and abstract reading process is visualized on the screen. The
user learns about the quality and structure of the templates. This transparency creates commitment
and trust.
The templates recorded are stored on the user card only and not in any data-base. This gives the
users exclusive control over their biometric data, further contributing to the high level of user
acceptance.
Database-free verification ensures fast access to the biometric data on the LEGIC chips. Each time
the LEGIC chip is read, the card holder creates the virtual network without requiring verification with a
database. A direct 1:1 comparison of the stored templates is made.
The templates of two different fingers are stored on the chip, e.g. the right and the left index finger. As
a result, the user always has two options to choose from for direct verification at the door.
The robust reading properties of the registration unit permit direct mounting on metal or glass surfaces
while maintaining a constant high level of functionality.
The two-section plastic housing was especially developed for simple adhesive or screw mounting and
it is compatible to the installation of the LT-PN.
This registration unit is suitable for both indoor and outdoor applications.

Unit description
Separating the antenna from the door manager makes various antenna designs possible. Using
suitable housing the antenna can be easily adapted to the spatial and security requirements of the
building. The registration units are available in different heights and shapes and enable flexible
integration. Combinations for installing in flush-mounted boxes, door panels or visible glass installation
etc., can be put together according to requirements. They offer protection against vandalism and
sabotage though hidden installation, for example.
The various antenna variants mean that different LEGIC ranges can be attained (strength of the
electromagnetic field). The reader characteristics are established by the different local installation
conditions and the identification media in use.
The robust reading characteristics of the LA-PG allow direct installation on metal or glass surfaces
while retaining the same level of function. The two-part plastic housing has been specially developed
for simple adhesive or screw-on installation. The registration units are suitable for both indoor and
outdoor use (IP 55).

The Card Collector is a return unit for badges with clip holders. It assists efficient card return. With the
integrable LEGIC registration unit and connection to a door manger it is fully integrated into the Kaba
exos system. Especially with visitor badges it is important to ensure correct return of the badges when
the visitor leaves. The reader is positioned as an exit reader so that the deposit of the card is
necessary to receive authorization to leave. The badge is only collected in a container if it is identified.
Non-system badges drop through. Automated return of visitor badges saves resources. Therefore
work and cost-intensive collection of visitor badges is a thing of the past.

Kaba exos® 9105
LEGIC reader for flush mounting
Unit description
The Kaba exos 9105 easily fits into the most European standard electric installation box's (80 x
80mm). Because this flat reader can be integrated into several switch frames of different manufacturer
a homogenous interior design in combination with mains sockets and light switches can be achieved.
Depending on customers demand, different colors can be used as well.
This LEGIC reader is designed for the on-line operation and has no decision authority at all. It will be
connected to an access hub, which checks, interprets and evaluates the badge content and releases
the corresponding door.
The reader, which can be easily mounted and installed, reads contactless all LEGIC media as badges,
keys, key fob and watches. It is equipped with a two-color LED and a buzzer to visualize the operating
mode i.e. to guide the user, a galvanic isolated RS-485 interface, a sabotage contact and a relay
output to connect an external signal element e.g. a signal lamp.
