WELCOME STADIUM TRADITIONS - Sports Authority Field at Mile
WELCOME
Representing the people and the personality of Colorado, Sports
Authority Field at Mile High was designed to honor the unique and
special characteristics of original Mile High Stadium, one of the most
storied and beloved stadiums in National Football League history.
With a unique, undulating upper profile and a skin of steel, glass and
aluminum, Sports Authority Field at Mile High reflects the Rocky
Mountains to the west and the modern Denver skyline to the east, a
focal point on the Denver skyline and a proud symbol of Colorado and
the Rocky Mountain Region.
Sports Authority Field at Mile High provides outstanding, unobstructed
views for 76,125 fans from five levels of seating, including 8,200 club
seats and 144 luxury suites. While seating only two more fans than
original Mile High Stadium, Sports Authority Field is more than twice
as large, encompassing a total of 1.8 million square feet.
Sports Authority Field at Mile high was constructed at a cost of $ 400.7
million dollars and was designed and built by Turner / Empire /
Alvarado Construction and HNTB Architects in association with
Fentress Bradburn Architects and Bertram A. Bruton Architects. The
stadium opened on August 11, 2001.
Sports Authority Field at Mile High is owned by the Metropolitan
Football Stadium District (MFSD) and managed by Stadium
Management Company, LLC (SMC), a subsidiary of the Denver Broncos
Football Club.
STADIUM TRADITIONS
BUCKY
This 1,600 lbs. and 27’ tall Denver icon was modeled
after Roy Rodgers horse Trigger and has maintained
his lofty perch since 1975.
COUNTIES GATEWAY PLAZA
The Counties Gateway Plaza on the stadium's west
side was designed as a ceremonial entrance with
Colorado native hackberry shade trees and
monuments to the 6 counties whose residents helped fund
construction of Sports Authority Field at Mile High.
HORSESHOE SHAPE
Sports Authority Field at Mile High is designed in the
legendary and traditional horseshoe shape of Mile High
Stadium.
NOBLE ENERGY
SPORTS LEGENDS MALL
The Noble Energy Sports Legends Mall is a grand lawn
outside the south end of the stadium for festivals,
tailgating and other pre event activities.
RING OF FAME
Created in 1984 by team owner Pat Bowlen, the Ring
of Fame honors the greatest Broncos players and
administrators in the history of the franchise.
RING OF FAME PLAZA
The Ring of Fame Plaza incorporates monuments to
each of the Broncos Ring of Fame Inductees, forged
from the same type of steel used to construct Mile
High Stadium.
ROCKY MOUNTAIN THUNDER
13,500 tons of steel treads of risers and a severely
pitched seating bowl allow Broncos fans to recreate a
hallmark of Mile High Stadium, a metal clamor known
as "Rocky Mountain Thunder".
SOUTH STANDS
At Mile High Stadium, the South Stands created an
intimidating background every game. Located over the
Visitor's Locker Room, teams could feel the intensity
of the crowd before taking the field.
STADIUM WITHIN A PARK
This park-like area on the stadium’s east side
integrates the landscape o the South Platte River with
native grasses, creating the feeling of a loose,
undulating plain.
PUBLIC ART
PROHIBITED ITEMS
"THE BRONCOS"
For the safety and security of our guests, the following items are not
permitted into the stadium:
A gift from Broncos owner Pat Bowlen and the
Bowlen family to the people of Colorado, “The
Broncos” was created by sculptor Sergio
Benvenuti. This spectacular water feature
incorporates five broncos, one mare & one colt
appearing as a snapshot in time, bounding
through mountainous terrain and up a raging mountain stream
towards the stadium with the flow of the fans. The feature circulates
850 gallons of water per minute.
"PASS THROUGH THE LAND"
Located within the Platte River Park on the east
side of the stadium this project consists of
massive, flat-top boulders in concentric rings
within an Aspen Grove, representing the mesas
and plateaus of Colorado. At the entrance to
the grove are 5 28’ towers with metal mesh
disks that catch the light and create wind chimes.
"PIGSKIN VARIATIONS"
A series of three sculptures offer a spectrum of metaphoric imagery
relating to Colorado history and culture. These Colorado sandstone and
bronze pieces suggest sport, challenge, exertion, control and
conquest.

To speed the security screening process, the following suggestions are
offered:
While at the stadium, to anonymously report any fan behavior
concerns or any other stadium related issues, text "RESPECT" + your
message to 78247 or call the Stadium Hotline at 720-258-3850.
When arriving at the stadium gates, fans will pass through two
security checks. At the first, which is a short distance from the gate,
staff will visually check the size and type of all bags being carried in to
ensure they meet NFL requirements.
At the second security check, located at the gate itself, the contents of
all bags will be searched and all fans will be subject to screening with a
hand-held metal detector.
Please provide a description of the situation, the location and any
other details which may be helpful. Stadium staff will be dispatched
immediately to respond.

When your text has been received you receive an immediate
response message stating, “Your message has been received by
stadium personnel.”
If more information is needed, the Guest Assist operator will
respond with additional questions
PARKING
PARKING
FAN CODE OF CONDUCT
The Denver Broncos home field advantage is one of the team’s
greatest and most long-standing traditions and it is one that we are
committed to maintaining long into the future. We want our stadium
to be intimidating and challenging to visiting teams, but not to our
fans, our guests from out of town and especially not for the youngest
fans and families among us today.
Have fun, cheer hard and support your team, but don’t be a jerk.
Respect the Game. Respect Each Other.
The Fan Code of Conduct requires guests to refrain from the following:
•Behavior that is unruly, disruptive or illegal in nature.
•Intoxication or other signs of alcohol or substance impairment
resulting in poor behavior.
•Foul, obscene, offensive or abusive language, gestures or actions.
•Interfering with the progress of the game or throwing any object onto
the field or in the stadium premises.
•Failing to follow the instructions of stadium personnel.
•Verbal or physical harassment of opposing team fans.
•Smoking, except in designated areas.
Sports Authority Field has a total of 6,500 parking spaces
on-site in stadium lots with 15,000 additional parking
spaces in privately managed parking lots located adjacent
to the stadium area.
On-site parking spaces are primarily reserved for season ticket holders
with pre-sold permits. A limited number of single-game cash spaces
will be sold to fans without a permit ($30-$20 cash only) however onsite single-game spaces historically sell out no later than 2 hours prior
to kickoff.
Fans without pre-sold permits have numerous off-site parking options
including Pepsi Center parking and parking lots located on the Auraria
Campus, both of whom offer Broncos game day parking availability.
The Pepsi Center and Auraria Campus are located east of I-25 and an
approximate walk of 10-minutes to the stadium.
Pricing and availability of off-site parking lots may change without
notice. Exercise caution when parking in off-site lots and utilize only
those which 1) display a special event parking sign issued by the City
& County of Denver, or 2) are existing approved parking lots clearly
managed by reputable companies.
On game day, heavy traffic on roadways around the stadium should be
expected. It is recommended that ticket holders give themselves
plenty of time for arrival to the game.
PARKING ON NEIGHBORHOOD STREETS AROUND THE STADIUM IS
ILLEGAL. VIOLATORS WILL BE TICKETED AND TOWED.
•Fighting.
•Indecent exposure or the wearing of obscene or indecent clothing.
•Conduct that endangers spectators or participants.
•Ethnic intimidation.
Violators will be ejected from the stadium premises and may be
required to complete an online Fan Conduct Class in order to be
permitted to attend future games. Season ticket holders may have
account privileges revoked without reimbursement at the discretion of
the Broncos and Sports Authority Field at Mile High. Season ticket
holders are responsible for the behavior of their guests.
PARKING POLICIES
Parking permits should be hung from the rear view mirror facing
forward. Please have your parking permit visible prior to pulling into
any stadium parking lot.
A parking permit or purchase of a parking space entitles the ticket
holder to one parking space for both his/her vehicle and tailgate setup. Adjacent parking spaces and drive aisles may not be used for
grills, chairs, tents, or any other items.
Parking outside of the stadium on area roadways, medians, grass
malls, and vehicle breakdown lanes is prohibited. Violators will be
ticketed by local law enforcement and/or towed at the owner’s
expense.

METROPOLITAN FOOTBALL STADIUM DISTRICT (MFSD)
Sports Authority Field at Mile High is owned by
the Metropolitan Football Stadium District
(MFSD) a body corporate and political
subdivision of the State of Colorado established
pursuant to the Metropolitan Football Stadium
District Act, Article 15, Title 32 of the Colorado Revised Statutes,
(Act). The District includes all or part of the seven counties in the
Denver metropolitan area. The District was created for the purpose of
planning, acquiring land and constructing a professional football
stadium.
The playing surface at Sports Authority Field at Mile High is a Kentucky
Bluegrass natural field with a Desso Grassmaster stabilization system,
which strengthens and reinforces the field through millions of artificial
fibers injected to a depth of approximately 8 inches into the surface.
As the roots of the natural grass grow they become intertwined with
the artificial fibers, "anchoring" the field and providing greater
stability, durability and strength. First utilized on European soccer
fields, Sports Authority Field at Mile High was the first professional
stadium in North America to utilize this technology.
In 2004, Sports Authority Field became the only stadium ever selected
by the Sports Turf Managers Association (STMA) as the top playing
surface in both professional football and professional soccer in the
same year.
MILES
Not too long ago, high in
the Rocky Mountains, a
big flash of lightning split
the blue and orange
sunset sky. Thunder
rolled all across the
foothills…but went
unnoticed. For that night,
Broncos fans were too
busy cheering on the
team to their second
consecutive Super Bowl
title in Miami, Florida.
In that great flash of
heat and electricity was
born the most dedicated Broncos fan ever, Miles. For the next year,
Miles lived high in the Rockies with all of the other wild animals. He
was raised by a herd of wild horses and taught how to survive the cold
climate and high altitude. The horses were, not surprisingly, huge
Broncos fans. They taught Miles all about Broncos traditions and the
great players who had carried the team to two world championships.
After two years, Miles longed for greener pastures. From high in the
mountains he dreamed of a place where the grass stayed green year
round. Then he spotted such a field way down in the city of Denver
and decided that was where he needed to be. When he arrived, he was
delighted to find that the grass he had seen was that of Sports
Authority Field at Mile High!
Miles loves his new home, and the turf management folks appreciate
the help he provides keeping the turf nicely trimmed. What Miles loves
most of all are the days when the Broncos are playing at the stadium,
because then he gets to cheer on his favorite team and meet all his
fellow fans!
