REAL WORLD FIELD TESTS
JOE MCDANIEL owns the McDaniel Gun Shop at
8880 Pontiac Trail, South Lyon, Michigan. The gun
shop has been in business at the same location
since 1977. To test the TS scopes, Joe used .416
Rigby rifle, one of the oldest and best big-bore
cartridges for stopping large and dangerous hunting
game. The .416 Rigby generates huge amount
of recoil which is powerful enough to damage any
ordinary optical scope attached to it. Some people
call it “Scope Killer”.
Two Leapers TS scopes, 3-9X40 Full Size (SCP394AOMDLTS) and 3-9X50 Full Size (SCP-395AOMDLTS) were subjected to this gruesome test to prove the
toughness of their structure. 350 shots were fired with each scope. Joe was extremely amazed by their excellent
performance. Some of Joe’s comments Performed well; Grouping was excellent; Optical clarity was excellent in the high humidity and temperature;
Adjustment tracking or point of impact remain reliable on the test scopes.
The scope passed the first test with flying colors. Nothing inside moved or became loose in the slightest. Other
brands of scopes have failed dramatically after being subjected to far less abuse. The red/green-illuminated reticle
was still working perfectly also. The second test was to determine if the scope’s reticle adjustments still worked. A
simple way to do this is to shoot at a target, holding on the same aim point for every shot, and adjusting the reticle
around the target. If the pellet moves in the same direction as the adjustment, the scope works. In Tom’s test, the
aim point for every shot was the center of the bullseye. Adjustment were positive and reliable.
JOHN KAPUSTA has been with Leapers since 2009,
at the beginning of UTG PRO U.S. manufacturing,
as an in-house firearm expert and the director of
new business development. John has over 3
decades of experiences in the firearm industry. He
has worked with major law enforcement agencies
throughout the country, and has also trained with
elite operations such as FBI, Navy Seals and
sniper/SWAT teams. Since joining Leapers, he’s
been putting Leapers’ products to test on punishing
shotguns and rifles, raising the bar on our product
quality and durability.
OPTICS
TOM GAYLORD has been testing and writing about
airguns for 14 years. He indicates, unlike firearms
which kick on to the rear, a spring-piston air rifle
kicks both ways, but much harder in the forward
direction. This two-way snap has proven brutal
on scopes. The hardest-recoiling airgun in the
business is Webley’s Patriot, or what Beeman
calls the Kodiak. It can bruise the shoulder of a
careless shooter in just a handful of shots, or give
you a headache, if you hold it too tightly while
shooting. Webley’s Patriot was used to perform the
test on Leapers 3-9X40 Full Size TS Scope (SCP394AOMDLTS). The Patriot is a 9-lb. break barrel spring rifle that generates as much as 30 foot-pounds when
shooting the heaviest pellets. 750 shots were fired with 100 shots per session.

ETCHED
Mil-dot reticle is the most widely used reticle
on Leapers riflescopes which provides
range estimating capability. The reticle has
crosshair throughout the reticle and multiple
dots spread equally apart on the lines in
the central area. The distance between
two adjacent dots is designed to be 1 milliradian or 3.44MOA at 10X. The regular mil-dot reticle on the market
usually has 4 dots on each direction.
Leapers scopes usually has 7 or 9 dots on
each direction to provide more flexibility in
range estimating. For mil-dot reticle with 9
dots on each direction, if you count the 2
inner tips of the opposite crosshairs, there
are 19 aiming points or totally 21 including
the inner tips.

Duplex reticle consists of thin crosshairs
in the center and four posts extending
to the reticle perimeter from the edges
of the thin crosshairs. The thicker posts
stand out against the background, while
the thin crosshairs are for precise aiming
and better view of the area of interest on
the target. Duplex reticle could be etched
on glass or etched from metal thin film.
Accordingly, the center crosshair may be
floating or connected to the outer bars.
Pro 5-step reticle is designed for
crossbows, but can also be used in other
applications such as rifles, airguns, etc.
The reticle consists of five horizontal
lines and a vertical line. And there is a
thin crosshair in the center. If used on
crossbows, the horizontal lines are for
aiming at 10, 20, 30, 40 and 50-yard
distances. The lines are calibrated for
300fps crossbows. The user needs to
find out the exact yardage of each line
during zeroing process.
The new etched Crossbow reticle comes
with 3 horizontal lines and 4 floating
points. Only the middle floating portion is
illuminated with either red or green when
the side wheel illumination is turned
on. The 3 horizontal lines with floating
points in the middle are for shooting at
20, 30 and 40 yards. The Free Floating
(4th) point is for shooting aiming at 50
yards. The power ring in this series is
for fine tuning scope aiming-for example,
280FPS/1.69X, 300FPS/3.40X, 320FPS/2.56X,
340FPS/3.40X, 360FPS/4.50X.

Circle Dot reticle includes a floating circle
and a dot in the center. The circle draws
the eye to the target and the dot indicates
the exact aiming point. Circle Dot reticle
is ideal for shotgun shooting, turkey
hunting, fly hunting as well as tactical
applications which require quick target
acquisition.

DUPLEX RETICLE
Target Dot reticle consists of a single
floating dot in the center as the aiming
point with the least visual distraction.
It is commonly used for quick aiming
applications with lower demand for
pin-point accuracy. The shooter aims
by pointing the dot on the target. For

high quality optics, we take pride in consolidating the knowledge base and setting up a reliable

Shock Proof
We build our own big hammer striking machine and vibration table to test the scopes. Each model
will be put on the striking machine and take the shock of 500G for thousands of times, not only
surviving physically but also holding the zero within 1MOA.

Etched Glass Reticle
We explored the technology of etched glass reticle and set up an
advanced clean room for assembling scopes with etched glass reticle
in our Accushot lines. Those scopes are targeted for heavy recoil
applications.
Circle Dot/Dot Scopes with Magnification
Circle Dot reticle is becoming more popular nowadays in tactical and
hunting applications. This year we launched different scopes with
Circle Dot both as telescopic scopes and reflex sights. In addition,
we have developed an innovative platform for Circle Dot scope with
4x manification.
Prismatic System
Prismatic image erecting system makes the scope more compact
and offers better recoil resistance and image clarity. Our T4 series
scopes are equipped with the unique prismatic system.
Fog Proof
Rain Proof
All our scopes are made with 1-piece main tube and all the moving parts are sealed with high
quality rubber o-rings. Moisture won’t be able to enter the inside of the scope. All the exposed
parts bear wear-resisting and anti-rust finish. The scopes can be used for all weather hunting.
Water Proof
All our scopes are extensively tested and guarantee satisfying waterproof feature in a proper
manner. Each scope can hold in one meter water for one hour if not being disassembled, abused
or damaged.
Coil Bias Spring
Comparing to leaf spring, coil spring is rigidly located in a housing
and has a further reduced risk of disengagement in heavy recoil
applications and allows for greater windage/elevation adjustment
range. Several of our new scopes come with coil bias spring. If you
have an elephant rifle, you'll know the difference.
Micro Dot Sights/Open Dot Sights
Continuing the success of our dot sight line which was applauded by

features, the new 2.6” Micro Dot (SCP-DS3020W, p.25) and the

tampered with in any way. Any evidence of such interference will void the warranty.
• Scope has not been abused, maliciously damaged or treated in a manner not in keeping with

FTS Magnifier
Flip-to-side magnifier gives user the flexibility and ability to switch
between quick aiming and accurate aiming in a second. Our new 3X
magnifier (p.28) has the integral flip-to-side base and quick-detach
lever lock system.
OPTICS
Each scope from Leapers is filled with dry nitrogen and completely sealed by high quality rubber
o-rings. All the moving parts including the eyepiece, objective, power selector ring and knobs
have dual o-rings for smooth adjustment and long-term sealing. Fog will never build inside the
scope. If moisture or dirt exists on the outside of the lens, just mopping with the included cleaning
cloth will restall the clear view.

all shooting/hunting applications from twilight to strong sunshine.
With the special broadband multi-coating, light transmission
through the lens is enhanced for the complete spectrum of
wavelength in the visible light band. The light transmission rate
of individual lens is over 95% to provide a bright image in daylight
environment and also enhance the performance under twilight.
