Oktoberfest Is This Much Fun Legal? The 2014/15 Season

The 2014/15 Season
Is This Much Fun Legal?
Rincon Country’s dynamic duo, Joyce McCorkle
and Judy Sinkular, planned such an exciting lineup of activities this year, we had to wonder if it’s
even legal to have this much fun!
Oktoberfest
The 2014/15 season will kick off with a big “Oom
Pah Pah” at Rincon Country’s Oktoberfest on
October 17. Then, join us for a Welcome Back
Potluck on October 23rd and our 6th Annual
Doggie Parade and Contest on October 30th.
Oct 17• 7:00 pm • Auditorium • $ 5.00
On Friday, October 17, yodel over to Rincon
Country’s own version of Oktoberfest. Polka
and waltz to the music of the Bouncing Czechs
Band.
Looking further ahead into the Season’s activities, there are too many to list, but here are a
few events you may especially want to plan and
pack for…
The Bouncing Czechs Band was formed more
than 18 years ago by the Tucson Czech-Slovak
Club. The band plays polkas and other music
from The Czech Republic, Slovakia, and other
Central European countries, as well as popular
music from the American pre-Be Bop era. They
love to play for their audiences.
 Bring your feathers and sequins for our firstever Mardi Gras dinner, dance, and parade.
 It’s 1920’s Hollywood and you’re invited to a
New Year’s Eve gala evening!
 Start practicing your “Aarghs” and your
“Ahoy, Mateys” for a thrilling, pirate-themed
murder mystery party.
 Show your patriotic spirit at the Liberty Ball!
Oktoberfest wouldn’t be complete without
Bratwurst and Sauerkraut, so the German Food
truck will be in the parking lot before the dance
(from 4:00 - 6:00 pm).
 Dig out your ugly Christmas sweater for the
Bocce Club’s annual Spaghetti dinner.
Tickets to the dance are available in the Activity
Office. Lederhosen optional!
We can’t wait to see you!

A Note from the Activity Office
We hope you had a healthy and busy summer. The Activity Office staff was busy over the
summer checking out new bands, food vendors, and trips. We packed every month of the
upcoming season with a variety of fun activities.
Danny O’Leary put together a fantastic RCE
shuttle bus schedule with exciting, new
trips. We hope you’ll use the bus as your mode
of transportation for sightseeing with friends.
Other planned bus tours include two trips to
the Barleen Opry in Apache Junction, a trip to
Laughlin, and a trip to Las Vegas. Each trip will
include prizes, soft drinks, water, comps, and
(in some cases) side trips.
Once you get settled in, please stop by the Activity Office. We’d like to hear about your summer and tell you more about upcoming activities and events. The Activity Office officially
opens on Oct. 15.
Be sure to check out the newly surfaced tennis
court. It’s game-match-set ready for play!
We’re anxious to see your smiling faces around
the park!
A special thanks to Sandra O’Leary for leading
us through the summer.
Do you remember “The Time Tunnel” TV show
from 1966? It’s the inspiration for our Time Travel theme this Season. Get ready to step into the
time tunnel “zone” and journey back to days
gone by!
Purchasing Tickets
Just Got Easier
Follow Joyce and Judy from Germany of yesteryear, to a 1920’s Hollywood party, to a pirate’s
cove in 1688, and a sock hop in the 1950’s. It’s
going to be a fun-filled season! Join the adventure!
You don’t have to wait in line for tickets at the
Activity Office. For your convenience, we will be
providing an advance ticket reservation form
with each newsletter.
Simply complete the form and place it in a
sealed envelope with a check for the appropriate amount made out to RCE. Address the envelope to Activity Office and drop it off at the RCE
Post Office or in the Activity Office.
Your Special Day!
Allow 3-5 days for processing. Tickets will be
placed in your mailbox. If you don’t have a mailbox, your tickets will be held for you in the Activity Office.
Please share your birthday and anniversary
dates with us in the Activity Office. We would
like to recognize you on your special day and
help you celebrate!

Safety First!
Rich’s Corner
I’m OK
Here at RCE we want to make sure you are A-OK!
The “I’m Okay Club” is a program for guests and
residents who are living alone.
Rich Perdue
On behalf of myself and all
the staff at Rincon Country
East, “Welcome home!” We
hope you had a great summer. We’re looking forward
to making it a great 2014/15
Season for you!
Park Manager
Once you sign up with the Activity Office, you
must call in daily before 10:00 am. This is just a
daily check-in by phone that allows us to make
sure you are OK. If you don’t call in by 10:00 am,
we will try and reach you. If we are unsuccessful,
we will come to your house and check on you.
Please stop by the Activity Office to sign up. We
look forward to seeing you.
Speed Limit
Keep us speed bump free! Please observe
the 10-mph speed limit inside the park.
New to Tucson or Rincon Country East?
The RCE Activity Office staff and their RCE Ambassador volunteers would like to help you learn
more about our great community. Beginning in
November, meet us every Thursday at 9:00 am
in the Fireside Room. We’ll help you get acquainted with RCE’s facilities and activities. We
can tell you where you can find a hospital or urgent care clinic, grocery stores, shopping malls,
restaurants, and some of the many interesting
sites in the area. We will try to answer any questions you may have. We look forward to seeing
you!
AED Device & 911 Phone
An Automated External Defibrillator (AED) device and 911 Emergency phone are located in the
Breezeway near the office. Watch “The Villager”
for upcoming CPR and AED training classes.
Safety from Wildlife
The weather is cooling and this is a time when
rattlesnakes might seek the warmth of a cozy
asphalt street after sundown. Although the perimeter of RCE is electrified to keep animals out,
we do occasionally receive an “uninvited guest.”
Call for Volunteers
The Activity Office needs
kitchen cooks and other help
with food events. They also
need volunteers to help with
Mardi Gras. If interested,
please contact the Activity
Office.
For maximum safety, carry a
flashlight when you are
walking at night, keep pets
on a leash, and remain alert
to an unlikely, but possible
encounter.

For Club Leaders
Updated Club Information
Club leaders, if you have not already done
so, please update the Activity Office with

reach you.
We’re excited to introduce an all-new Farmers

farm fresh eggs and meats from local ranchers;
honey from Holly’s Little Farm; jellies, jams, and

and bakery items.
Please check in with the Activity Office
when you arrive for information about a
Club President’s meeting in November.
Lunch on delicious, freshly-prepared Mexican
food or barbecue.
Shop a wide array of artisans and clothing vendors. There may even be farmers with plants
and potted items and music by some of our
own talented RCE musicians.
