Jones and David Yost, and motion-capture performer leisurely stroll around the square and the wild west gunfight during the 2.5-hour layover in Burnet. Battleship Texas Battleship Texas celebrates the legacy of the USS Texas, the most powerful naval weapon at the time of its debut. The Texas is the only surviving USN vessel that fought in battles in both World War I and World War II, including Operation Overlord/Neptune, also known as D-Day, Operation Detachment at Iwo Jima and Operation Iceberg at Okinawa. BELTON Mother-Daughter Day In conjunction with the new exhibition, Dorothea Lange’s America, the Bell County Museum will host a Mother-Daughter Day in Kit’s World. The event will be held from 10 a.m. until noon and again from 2-4 p.m. March 15. The event is $10 per child and includes refreshments and craft activities. Suggested age for daughters is ages 6-10. AUSTIN March 27 Citizen’s Police Academy The Killeen Police Department is hosting its 36th Citizen’s Police Academy now through May 19. Applications are available at the Killeen Police Department and must be completed and returned by 5 p.m. Friday. The Citizen’s Police Academy is an educational and informative program that allows citizens the opportunity to learn about local law enforcement in Killeen. Classes will be held on Monday evenings from 710 p.m. One additional class is scheduled April 12. There is no cost to enroll, but applicants must agree to submit to a background check, including a criminal history inquiry. TEMPLE WWE Smackdown Deltron 3030 The Road to Wrestlemaina runs through Waco March 14 at the Extraco Events Center in Waco. The action begins at 7:30 p.m. for WWE’s weekly Smackdown programs. Wrestling fans are likely to see WWE superstars such as John Cena, Randy Orton, Cody Rhodes, Sheamus, Alberto Del Rio, Cesaro, Mark Henry and many more. Tickets start at $25. STILLHOUSE Bass Tournament The fifth annual Brigadier General Charles B. Allen Memorial Bass Tournament is April 5 at Dana Peak Park, Stillhouse Hollow Lake, hosted by the Rail Gunner Fires Chapter of the United States Field Artillery Association. Show time is 5:30 a.m., take off is at 7 a.m. and weigh in is at 2 p.m. Entry fees are $30 per person or $60 per team. Cash prizes and awards will be presented to winning participants. The train, pulled by the 1960 Alco diesel locomotive, departs from the Cedar Park depot at 10 a.m. and travels to Burnet through the Texas Hill Country, crossing the wooden trestle bridge over the South San Gabriel River and traveling through Short Creek Canyon. Guests will enjoy lunch on their own, a Friday Night Live Come to the second Friday of each month for a fun teen night. Friday Night Live is 7 p.m.-10 p.m. on the second Friday of each month at the Wilson Park Recreation Center. Activities include Gaga ball, pickleball, basketball, volleyball, arts and crafts, and much more. Each month is a different theme, participants that dress up will get a $1 off at the door.
