North Florida & South Georgia
The Tour
Take advantage of this once-a-year event. Forty-one farms are opening their doors and inviting you
to come see local farms in action. Each farm is offering something special. Families can enjoy tours
that include barnyard animals, fresh-baked goods and refreshments. You can attend a workshop on
beekeeping, see community gardening in action, or talk to farmers who are committed to organic
production. Visit working cattle and goat ranches, a dairy or a winery. And of course, purchase
amazingly fresh goods directly from the farm.

The whole family is needed to get all the farm
chores done. Sam (11) is in charge of raising
our rabbits. Nathan (15) is responsible for the

and friends help with larger tasks as needed. We
have all learned so much in the past few years
and want to share this with you.
We are also happy to be hosting THE MAZE, a
three-acre corn maze. Tickets are $5 per person.
We will have lots of free things to do: animals
to pet, a corn pit to play in, a tractor train ride, a

to munch on. We will have concessions for sale:
hotdogs, snow cones, corn bread waffles and

jams, jellies, soaps, and crafts, as well as pecans,

good, healthy soil amendments like composted
manure. We have pastured chicken and beef,
raised with no hormones or chemicals—just more
of that sunshine and fresh grass.
Michael Jr. raises sheep and goats and his raw
local honey is something folks really enjoy.

frantic–have one hand full of rest and one hand
full of labor and enjoy the journey.

Clear Lake Farm of Lamont, Florida is a small
57-acre family farm located 30 miles southeast
of Tallahassee on Highway 27/19 (Apalachee
Parkway). Our goal is to live harmoniously with
nature while supplying our family and friends
with healthy sustainable foods. We are constantly
educating ourselves to improve our lives and
the lives of our animals. This year, Christine
completed the Master Goat and Sheep Producers
Program with FAMU, and is in the process of
certifying the farm.
We use each animals’ natural abilities to help
us farm. Goats are browsers and ours have been
very busy clearing the woodlands. Maremma and
Great Pyrenees livestock guardian dogs live with
the goats and protect them from predators. We
use the pigs’ natural rooting and the chickens’
foraging to turn and add compost to the soil. Our
guineas are voracious foragers of ticks and bugs—
an all-natural way to control unwanted insects.
Our pasture-fed Bourbon Red turkeys are all born
and raised on the farm. Order your own heritage
breed turkey for this year’s holiday meal. There is
nothing quite like the taste of a free-range bird.
Walking tours will be ongoing throughout the day
and will include all of the animals, gardens and
shiitake mushrooms.
Our family has discovered the joys of living and
working in a beautiful peaceful setting and wish
to share it with you. Farm products available for
sale will include heritage turkeys, pasture poultry
broilers, free-range pork, free-range chicken and
duck eggs. The lunch menu will feature our own
chicken and pork, plus other homemade goodies.
Or bring your own bag lunch and a fishing pole to
enjoy a picnic with your family down at the lake.
Directions: From Tallahassee, take Apalachee
Pkwy/US-27 S. Go southeast approximately
27 miles to the town of Lamont, FL. Continue
through Lamont (now called US-27 S/US-19).
Go approximately 3.5 miles. Look for farm tour
signs, take a left on small dirt driveway, sign

on driveway and house/farm will be on the right.

Dickerson Farms is surrounded by rolling
hayfields and pine wood. It is based on the cycles
of life. What springs forth from the ground, falls
back to the ground. Starting with good soil and
then recycles anything and everything organic it
can to prevent waste, in returns nutrients back
to the soil. We have chickens and rabbits that
break down vegetation that is then feed to worms
(vermiculture) or used directly in the gardens.
The garden grows what is then used to feed
us, as well as the chickens, rabbits and goats.
The worms create a great growing medium that
is mixed with pine bark to create potting soil.
The plants are sold and much returns later as
clippings to be fed to worms, chickens, and goats
that are then used to fertilize the soil.

My “farmette” is a small, diversified homestead
including woods, fruit trees, veggies and herbal/
dye plants and pasture. I raise a small family of
mixed breed sheep—Shetland, Florida Native
and Suffolk—for their hardiness and luscious
long-fibered, soft white wool. For 30 years I’ve
worked to integrate the garden and animals,
such as using the natural reciprocal processes
offered by sheep for fertilizing, pruning, wool and
lambs. There will be ongoing demonstrations of
the fiber process with loom and spinning wheel.
Natural dyebaths will be on the fire all day using
indigenous dye plants and handspun wools.
I offer fiberart activities for kids and adults. Dye
’N Wool arts provide a wealth of color and texture
in a playful learning process. Children may create
with natural fibers and visit with the sheep. See
how a sheep’s “blanket” ends up on your bed, or
transfer the colors of nature from berries, barks
and flowers to wool. Enjoy the new lambs. Demos

Golden Acres Ranch is located in northern
Jefferson County. The 68 acres consists of
pasture and planted pines. During the hayride
you will see the natural stand of 175 Mayhaw
trees that grow in a managed wet area. The

native trees are 40 to 50-years-old. Whether
you are walking about, or are on the hayride, you
will be up close to all the farm animals. There
are goats, sheep, chickens, guineas, horses
and our wonderful Great Pyrenees guardian
dogs. We invited fellow farmers and producers
to join us during this time to showcase the
diversity and charm of country life. There are
local woodcarvers, blacksmiths, soap makers,
jewelry artists, wool products, vegetables and
fruit growers, pony rides, old tractors (neat photo
opportunity) and petting places. There is plenty
of parking and room for the whole family.

and nurturing environment since 1972. Building
on a child’s innate inquisitiveness, children are
encouraged to develop their creativity, critical
thinking and natural love of learning, as well as
their sense of responsibility to other individuals
and to the larger community. There are no grades

attendance for any class or project, although

largely by youth. On the farm you will see 2,000

Monticello Vineyards & Winery is a small Florida
farm winery located on the 50-acre farm of
Ladybird Organics. Situated in the Red Hills
bioregion of Jefferson County, Florida, the winery
features wines made from organic Muscadine
grapes. The farm and all vineyards are USDA
Certified Organic. A walking farm tour with a
guide explaining the various aspects of this
unique, integrated organic operation will be
offered every hour.
Over 18 different varieties of Muscadine grapes
are grown on site. Small batches of handcrafted
wines are manufactured, reflecting the unique
soils and sunshine of each vintage year and the
holistic organic farming system on the farm. Each
wine is a one-of-a-kind product of place, labeled
with the classic Jefferson County Courthouse
and the ingredients—organic grapes. Wines
are distinctly Muscadine and include the white
varietals of Carlos, Magnolia and Triumph. The
red varietal Ison produces our fabulous Florida
Red. Wines are available in both semi-sweet
and dry versions. Monticello Vineyards & Winery
invites and welcomes visitors to our farm and
winery for tastings of our wines and to purchase a
bottle, or case, to prolong the pleasure long after
returning home.

Four years ago Ocheesee Creamery decided to
process their own milk on their farm. They do
it the old fashioned way—pasteurized but not
homogenized—resulting in a whole milk with
cream on the top. Ocheesee is also one of the few
dairies that sell their milk in glass bottles. Did
you know milk tastes better in glass, it is better
for the environment and it’s nostalgic? Ocheesee
also produces fresh farm butter. You will be able
to purchase whole milk, chocolate milk, butter,
cream, drinkable yogurt, ice cream, cheese and
jams on your visit. Oh so delicious!
When you visit you will see where we milk cows
and process our dairy products. You will also
see our animals and what it is like to be on the
farm. You will be able to taste our whole, skim or
chocolate milk.
Directions: From Tallahassee, take I-10 W to exit

practices stewardship of the land and has created
a peaceful, healing atmosphere for all to enjoy.
O’Toole’s Herb Farm is located in beautiful
Madison, Florida. The farm opened for business
in 1990, but the land has been in B’s family since

mushrooms, as well as wholesale and retail
plants, O’Toole’s is now open by appointment
and for special events with its main emphasis on
wholesale plant production.
On your visit, browse the quaint gift shop,
wander the garden or walk the Labyrinth. The
greenhouse will be open to show the whole
process of propagation: growing from seed and
cuttings, to flourishing plants ready for purchase.
Take home quality starter herb and vegetable
plants for your fall garden. Cool weather
heirloom organic vegetables like lettuce, kale,
collards, mustards and herb plants will be for
sale. Also visit Janet Moses’ Art Studio located

apprenticeship at Full Circle Farms in Live Oak,
Florida where the vision and goal is to create the
most nutrient-dense foods with farming practices
that heal the land, the animals and the people
that share in its abundance. Our farm has been
founded on the teachings of the Weston A. Price
Foundation. Many of the foods we offer also
align with the GAPS, Paleo and Primal Blueprint
Diets. Other mentors have been Mark Shepard
with Restoration Agriculture, Elaine Ingham and
her work with soil and the holistic management
practices of the Savory Institute.
On our new 43-acre site we are raising broiler
chickens, 200 heritage breed egg layers, free
ranged and rotationally grazed along with 80
St. Croix hair sheep, a parasite resistant, welladapted breed for our locale, all under the
watchful care of our Pyrenees-Border Collie mix
dogs. It is our goal to also have a milk cow and
goats to join our collective efforts. We will share
what we have learned along the way. We are a
work in progress and invite others to come and
progress with us. We farm on a beautiful sylvopastured land in an old pecan grove from which a
spring and creek emanate. Beverages and snacks
will be available for purchase. We will have for
sale raw milk, fresh eggs and naturally fermented
cultured foods and drinks. Per Florida State
Law, applicable products are labeled and sold
as animal food or animal food ingredient only,
not for human consumption. We also continue to
service Tallahassee with conscientiously raised
farm products from Full Circle Farms. Looking

Urban farms? Check. Lady farmers? Check.
Bicycle delivery? Check. These are the coolest
things about Ten-Speed Greens Urban Farm. We
are Claire Mitchell and Danielle Krasniqi, and
we started work on an abandoned community
garden in the Levy Park neighborhood in fall
2012. What was then a mess of overgrown weeds
is now an intensively cultivated quarter-acre farm.
When you check out Ten-Speed Greens, you’ll
see the methods we use to grow a whole lot of
food in a little space, and our bicycle trailers
which we use to deliver produce. We’ll also have
lots of produce for sale, including our loose leaf

you’ll get a chance to meet the lady farmers, and
we’ll be sure to take you on a farm tour. We look

Turkey Hill Farm is 89 acres of diverse
ecosystems in eastern Leon County. On the 20acre hill we grow vegetables, fruits and shiitake
mushrooms for sale at local markets, to select
restaurants, and online through the Red Hills
Online Market (www.rhomarket.com). We farm
in the open fields, as well as in the high shade
of planted pines. The selective use of these
microclimates and two unheated high tunnels
allows us to grow almost year-round. There
is a small citrus grove of oranges, satsumas,
grapefruit and pomelos, a fig orchard, Japanese
persimmons, pears, blueberries and muscadines.
Elephant garlic, shallots, sweet potatoes, winter
squash, lettuces, arugula, winter greens and
shiitake mushrooms are all staples through
the winter months. We have a small flock of
American Buff Geese, a breed whose survival
is characterized as critical by the American
Livestock Conservancy. The flock has doubled in
number and lives freely and forages for most of
their food.
Turkey Hill Farm is Certified Naturally Grown and
uses absolutely NO synthetic chemical fertilizers,
insecticides, herbicides or fungicides. We build
healthy soil with compost and cover crops.
Farmer Herman has an extensive composting
program as the basis of our farm fertility.
Farmer Herman Holley and Miss Louise Divine
welcome you to the farm tours. Our market will
