The Delta is a precious resource that supports the recreational activities
we all love and provides drinking water for two-thirds of California
residents. The Delta is also home to hundreds of different wildlife
species including populations of trout, striped bass and sturgeon.
Petroleum products are harmful to all that rely on the Delta.
YOU CAN KEEP THE DELTA WATER CLEAN by:
• Recycling used motor oil and oil filters at a certified used oil
collection center or marina providing this service. Check the
used oil recycling centers below.
• Using oil absorbents in the bilge of your boat or beneath the
engine to capture unexpected engine leaks before they can be
released into the Delta.
• Keep your boat engine well-tuned and operating efficiently.

RULES OF THE ROAD
• Vessels anchored outside of a navigation channel have right of way over
moving vessels.
• Vessels restricted in their maneuverability, sailboats (under sail only),
fishing boats, etc. have right of way over powerboats.
• Two powerboats approaching head on should stay on the right and pass
each other port to port. Unless they are far enough apart to pass safely
on starboard.
• When two power boats approach each other at an angle, the right of way
goes to the boat on the right and ahead of the other. Pass port to port.
• Vessel being overtaken has right of way over overtaking vessel.
• Sailboats on a starboard tack (wind coming from the right) have right of
way over sailboats on port tack.
• When two sailboats on the same tack approach, the leeward boat (downwind) has the right of way.
