EXECUTION PERIOD: 2007-2013 SURFACE: 42.837 m2 FLOORS: 20 floors over the ground capacities: civil works and facilities. The frame and the interior of this building, which will become an emblematic building, have been made by FCC Industrial. TECHNICAL STAFF • Architect: Pablo Muñoz López Pedro Vilata Capont • Arquitectural Support: Eduardo González Clemente Félix Ponce de León Torre Castellana, a structure of 42,837 m2 of surface and avantgarde facilities • Construction Management: Pablo Muñoz López Pedro Vilata Capont Torre Castellana represents an harmonic Feliciano Zubillaga Estanga alliance where the envelope, the structure and Elisa Hernández G. the internal conduits meet naturally. Angel Luis Alvarez I. 42,837 m2 of constructed surface divided in 20 • Management Work Execution: Manuel Escalante Isidoro Oliva López Bombin • Health&Safety Coordinator: Carlos Trabadela Fernández floors above ground, featuring technical areas, retail areas and offices. THE SITE A Special Location in the Financial District of Madrid 3 Located in the commercial area of Paseo de la Castellana in the Finantial District Azca, Torre Castellana is locaed in the same place where previously was located the Windsor building, next to one of the biggest Commercial Centres of Spain. The building will house the ofices of this commercial giant. Torre Castellana becomes part of the emblematic buildings conforming Madrid’s skyline. Its necessary integration with the commercial centre has been one of the premises of this project full of singularities. • 4.512.000 m2 of offices • Headquarter of main Spanish companies Torre Castellana, a building at the heart of the Finantial District of Spain. • 20 ha and 15,000 underground parking places Calle de Alonso Cano Calle de Raimundo Paseo de la Castella na Calle Hernani Calle de Orense Plaza Pablo Ruiz Picasso Fernández Villaverd e Self-climbing formwork THE PROCESS Formwork detail Integrated Solutions THE FIRST WORKS > CIVIL WORKS In the the first phase foundations are reinforced and the concrete core is executed over the metal decks of the floors. There are also two 500 kVA standby generators that supply common lighting and power circuits. A hybrid air and water system, using outside ventilation air, fan-coils for the air-conditioning of perimeter areas and a variable-flow air system, was installed for the central areas. Lighting has also been installed using 1,200 x 600-mm fixtures with fluorescent tubes on the ground floor. LED lighting and presence sensors for controlling building power costs were installed in common areas. As special lighting, it is proposed to install emergency lighting and other safety measures. PLUMBING AND DRAINAGE Main network design from the accumulation tanks to two pressure sets. The verticals are made up of two networks, one for supplying service water and the other for the fluxometer water. The fluxometer network consists of urinals and toilets. Sanitary hot water production is provided by heaters located in the washroom blocks suspended ceilings on the various floor levels. NATURAL GAS PIPING Distribution from the mains connection to the supply for the rooftop boiler. A tank, with a minimum 1,500-litre capacity, supplies the rooftop standby generators and the fire-fighting set diesel pump. The perimeter area was installed with a ceiling fan-coil system, with four pipes to directly balance the high thermal load caused by direct sunlight. FIRE PROTECTION AND DETECTION SYSTEMS Loudspeaker electro-acoustic design and installation on a commercial level as well as for emergency warnings. The safety system is integrated into the rest of the building systems. Automatic closing of FBDs (Fire Break Doors) Centralised Technical Management System Emergency lifts Emergency public address NOVEC system fire extinguishing in high-risk rooms. Aspiration detection system AN EFFICIENT BUILDING Much More than a Construction: A Living and Efficient System. 6 Torre Castellana is an example of integration and efficiency in its realization, location and operation. FCC Industrial as a company committed to sustainable development, environmental protection and energy saving, is aware of the positive environmental impact it has had the execution and subsequent operation of this infrastructure.
