AND GENEALOGICAL SOCIETY
Since its beginning in 1990, the
Richmond Area Historical and
Genealogical Society (RAHGS) has
been committed to preserving the
history of this area. The Historic
Village consists of a log cabin, a train
depot, and a one room schoolhouse.
The newly built museum houses our
displays and provides office and
storage space. A brick pathway offers
the opportunity for individuals to
meander through the beautifully
landscaped park.
The Village is open throughout the
year for bi-monthly programs,
special events and by appointment.
Buildings are also open during our
Thursday morning work bees. A few of
our special events include a Historic
Tea, Annual Log Cabin Day, and
Good Old Days.
The Society is an active historical and
genealogical group with strong
support from the community. The
Richmond area is rich in history that
is waiting to be discovered, preserved,
and shared. Come and visit our Village
or attend one of our programs. New
members are always welcome.

Parks & Recreation
DEPARTMENT
The Richmond Parks & Recreation Department serves both the residents of Richmond
and those in the surrounding Richmond, Casco, Columbus, and Lenox Townships.
The Department maintains the Beebe Street, Gierk Street, and Bailey Parks, as well
as the Richmond Community Center and Richmond Pool.
In addition to the operation of these facilities, the Department is responsible for
holding community events and offering classes to people of all ages. Some of
our annual events include the Chili Cook Off, Daddy/Daughter Dance, Senior
Socials, Easter Egg Scramble, and the Christmas Tree Lighting and Santa
Parade. In addition to our seasonal events, we also offer all types of
enrichment classes and programs year round at the Richmond Community
Center. These classes include gymnastics, yoga, dog obedience and
adult dance classes as well as one-day snowmobile and boater’s safety
and babysitting courses.
Course offerings increase in the summer with the opening of the
Richmond Pool, the start of Camp Richmond in June for kids 6-12,
and sports and enrichment classes for children. The Richmond
Community Center also hosts senior activities for those 60 and
older, including daily senior lunches, provided by the Macomb
County Senior Nutrition program. These lunches are open for
seniors 60 years and older, and all are welcome. The
suggested donation for each meal is $3 per person, but this
amount is not required.

Our goal as a department is to offer cost-effective
programs and special events to promote and enhance the
quality of life in Richmond, and we invite you to come visit
