Saint Andrew Summer Camp 2016 Boys Basketball Summer Camp When: June 13­16, 2016 Time: 9AM­12PM Ages: grades; rising 3­8 boys Where: Saint Andrew Gym Info: Focus will be on sound fundamentals, improving weaknesses, and developing skills. Game play and competition will also take place. Cost: $120. Camp T shirt Included. Online registration begins March 16 at www.gosaintandrew.com . Registration deadline is April 29. Spots are limited. Contact Mr. Pope with questions: [email protected] Saint Andrew Summer Camp 2016 Build­A­Stuffed­Animal In this fun summer camp, students will make their very own stuffed furry friend. Students will also decorate a carrying box and t­shirt for their new pal. Finally, students will celebrate with a fun party! Lots of fun and crafts will make for special summer memories! Using a variety of computer resources, such as Google CS First, Scratch, and more, students will manipulate code to make their own computer games or programs. Students will have the option of making basic video games, sports programs, fashion programs, or animations (5­8 only). Don't have an American Girl doll? Don't worry any 18" doll will do. Each day will have a fun-쐐⬫lled theme that includes a variety of crafts, cooking, games, stories, and clothing/accessory making. We will learn about the dolls of the past, the time periods, and their unique stories. We will also learn about the care and keeping of our own dolls. During these four 3­hour sessions, students will work on technique, run skill­building drills, and participate in a range of exciting competitions, from knock­out to scrimmages. Ages: Rising 3 rd ­8 th Graders Where: St. Andrew School Gym Cost: $120.00 per student, t­shirt included Contact: [email protected] Saint Andrew Summer Camp 2016 [email protected] HeART of Summer Creative Workshops 2016 Staci Sterenberg­ teaching artist MOSAIC MINECRAFT Kids can make their favorite pixelated characters and tools using glass tiles, adhesive and grout. They will arrange tiles on wood and come home with a wall hanging and a trivet of their own. This is a great basic workshop for first time mosaic artists. No cutting or tools are needed. When: June 13­16 & June 20­23 Time: 9­12 Where: Art room 3­D Who: rising 3­8th graders Cost: $165 ( all materials and tools are included) MOSAIC INITIAL Kids will use a technique called “picassiette” which loosely translates to “other people’s dishes” and make a one of a kind 12” initial of their own. Students will smash plates, cups and bowls to make tesserae then arrange them on a wooden letter. Grouting is the final step to creating this piece of art that will last a lifetime. Using stained glass, adhesive and grout while developing cutting and placement skills, kids will create their own 12”X12” picture of the best city on Earth. Topics to be covered include Green Screening, Stop Animation, and much more. Students will need to provide a Camera with USB output and video capability. Students will have the opportunity to explore Chicago by taking a field trip every day. On previous trips we have visited Maggie Daley Park, Second City, Chinatown, Willis Tower and MORE! Your presence is requested at the saint Andrew castle for an enchanting adventure! We will design crowns and wands fit for royalty, shields for our brave knights and other magical creations. Get your suitcases packed for a trip you won’t forget! “Party in the USA” is a summer camp designed to teach students about the different regions and states through music, art and play. Each day we will “visit” a new state and students will be able to interact with their peers in a fun school environment! Summer Drama Summer Drama is a half day theatre camp led by Mrs. Loomos and Ms. Eley, two teachers who work with our performing arts program. Students will have the opportunity to learn about acting, set making, and costuming as we read and perform a short play. There will be a short performance for parents on Friday. We strive to promote independence and facilitate fine and gross motor skills. Our weekly themes are incorporated through books, music, snack, free choice items, crafts, and outside play (including sand and water tables). It is a fun­filled day in the school setting. Saint Andrew Summer Camp 2016 Transitions Sizzling Summer Camp Come join your friends and teachers for Transitions Summer Camp. The camp will promote social skills, 쐐⬫ne and gross motor skills, cognitive development and problem solving skills. This four day a week camp will be 쐐⬫lled with summer crafts, games and fun. Space is limited. This camp is for students who have 쐐⬫nished Transitions class. ƋƵĞƐƟŽŶƐ Saint Andrew Summer Camp 2016 "We've Got Spirit": Spirit & Dance Clinic If you've got spirit, we want YOU! Rising first through rising fourth grade students will take part in four, 3­hour sessions, during which they will learn three stunts, two Bulldog cheers, and a band chant dance routine. At the end of the camp week, students will show off all they have learned in a lively performance for family and friends. The camp day allows for more than just rehearsal; students will also enjoy games and art with friends. Additionally, participating students will be gifted a spirit party bag. The takeaway for students extends beyond the routines and party bag, however. "We've Got Spirit" fosters teamwork, confidence, self­discipline, a love for performance, and a love for working with others. Come join us!
