The winemaking tradition of the Brunel family dates back to the 17 th
century. Gaston Brunel, a famous négociant, acquired the Château de la
Gardine in 1945. The estate is now run by his two sons, Patrick and
Maxime with the help of their wives and children Eve, Maryse, Marie-Odile
and Philippe. The estate spreads over 52ha of vineyards (48ha of red and
4ha of white) and 20ha of forests, all gathered around the property (see
page 4). The domaine is famous for the quality of their wines and for the
Gardine bottle. 70% of the production is exported in about 30 countries.
We have been producing white Châteauneuf-du-Pape since 1980. White
wines account for 5% of our total production.

Total Châteauneuf du Pape appellation: 110,000 hl - 3,200 ha.
The white vines are mostly on Urgonian limestones located on the Western
side of the estate. This provides wines with excellent minerality.

Early (usually before September 15) to preserve maximum freshness.
100% hand harvest into small baskets with thorough sorting of the grapes.
The grapes are gently pressed in a pneumatic press right after the harvest.
After cold settling, around 70% of the grapes ferment in stainless steel tanks
at 15 to 18°C, the rest in 300 and 225 litres barrels. The Roussanne grapes
are aged for half a year in one year-old small oak barrels and the remaining
varieties in vats.
There is no malolactic fermentation and the wine is slightly filtered before
bottling.

some delicately spiced notes of liquorice and fennel, all reminding the
Provencal “garrigue”.

Best served at 10°C.
Best to drink now, but can age 2 to 3 years for an evolution towards
some more roundness and some waxy and honey aromas.

87/100 (2009 vintage)
“The 2009 Châteauneuf du Pape blanc is a solidly constructed,
medium-bodied, fresh, lively white revealing hints of melons,
candle wax, pears and honeysuckle. It is best drunk over the next year.“
Gault & Millau

“This wine shows some lime-blossom, verbena and
garrigue notes. The mouth is very seductive with a
good compromise between freshness and roundness.”
