P.O. Box 296 Altmar, NY 13302 www.oswegocountyatv.org Officers: President: Steve Cronk 298-3312 Vice President: Brad Hilton 480-5104 Secretary: Mary Gaffey 298-5444 Treasurer: Claudia Gamble 298-4829 April 2016 Meeting Highlights & Other News: Welcome to 2016! We hope everyone's holidays were great and you all are looking forward to another riding season, fun activities, camping and mud. May we all have a healthy and prosperous year! A meeting was held on March 19, 2015 at 11am at Tailwater Lodge in Altmar. There were about 105 members present. Thanks to all those who attended! Welcome to all the new members who have joined us thus far and welcome back to all returning members. Thank you to Tailwater Lodge for hosting us. The first meeting of the season will always be the 3 rd Saturday of March and will be held at the Tailwater Lodge at 11am. There will be no newsletter sent out in March any longer. There isn't enough information to warrant mailing one out without anything in it. The cost of postage is getting high, so we can save a little by skipping March. The first one will be April. Sorry for any inconvenience. The following are a couple new sponsors, we thank them graciously for their support: Animal Art Taxidermy, Mexico and Kickin' Cans, Pulaski Please don't forget our sponsors, stop in, say hello and thank them for their support. The sponsor section of our newsletter will change over the next couple of months, as we work to improve the way we list our sponsors. 50/50 winner: $93.00, Sue Bennett, congratulations Sue! Thank you to everyone who purchased tickets. 2016 registrations are available on the website, Altmar Union Station, meetings or from Becky Hilton. A new form is needed for each riding season. Annual elections will be held April 16 th. Unfortunately Mary will NOT be running for Secretary this year. She has put a lot of time and effort into the club and wants to relax and enjoy the other side of being a member. If you or someone you know would be interested in this position or any of the other positions, please contact a member of the Election Committee. You must be a paid member to vote in elections. Current positions are as follows: Voting: Other: President – Steve Cronk Board Members: Mike Ortman, Todd Pfluger, Jr. O'Neil Vice President – Brad Hilton Memberships: Becky Hilton Secretary – Mary Gaffey Newsletter: Jen Pieropan Campground: Bert Cronk Treasurer – Claudia Gamble Webmaster: Nate Johnson Clothing: Lynn Sorbello Election Committee: Paul Roland, Al Harrington and Tom Battles Our new maps are done and should be available by the time you receive this newsletter, if not sooner. Please verify that the trails have been officially opened before riding by checking our website, Facebook etc. Even though we've had a mild winter, we cannot guarantee there will be no delays due to heavy rains, lack of volunteers, etc. Good News! The trail to Redfield will be opening this year as well. There is some signage and other things to get done however before the trail can officially open. Thank you to our President Steve Cronk and everyone else who continues to fight to get more riding areas open. Please note, there will be logging taking place on the trail between Rt 2 and Waggoner Rd in Orwell this spring. For safety reasons this trail will be closed during this time. If there is a trail marked closed and it has ribbon, signs, gates or any other such things, then the trail is closed. Do Not go around. It may be closed do to a hazard, issue with a landowner, hunting (if there is at the time) or many other things. We have trails that open and close at different times throughout the riding season. It is not possible to mark these on the maps because they change so much. Check the website, facebook or call a Trail Boss if you have any questions about a certain trail. There is lots of work to do, all the help we can get, would be greatly appreciated!!! NO new trails until we get more help with current trails!
