QUICK GUIDE FOR CBC A&E PROMOS
There are five main graphic elements to consider when building a new CBC A&E promo.
They are: Front Plates, Lower Third, Social Media Tag, Transitions, and Backplates.
Frontplates - There are two different lengths. One set is 45 frames long, the other set is 35 frames long.
Lower Third - These should appear over footage but not over any other graphic element such as the
frontplates, transitions and backplates.
Social Media Tag - This should appear at the top left of the screen over footage
Transitions - There are eight transition elements. They can be used over a cut between two clips.
Backplates - Includes a stylized show title with day and time information and always ends with the CBC logo resolve

There are two lengths for the frontplates. One set is 35 frames long. The other set is 45 frames long.

TRANSITIONS
The transitions all have an alpha dissolve in and out. There is one solid frame which should
be positioned over the cut between two clips.
BACKPLATES
Backplates are all 5 seconds (150 frames) which includes the show title, day and time and the CBC logo resolve.
Some trimming of the length is done where necessary.

CBC Logo on advertising
Any off-air print ad and digital banners should have the full CBC logo prominently display at the lower right-hand
part of the design surface, it should be centre align with the tune-in info, the full CBC logo with the wordmark CBC
underneath the gem should be use, there are three colour versions of the full CBC logo to use in different print
circumstances, on any light-coloured background, please use the full colour version, use the reverse version on dark
coloured background and the Black version on B&W print application.

When placing sponsor logos on CBC advertisement, the following must be followed
1. Sponsor logos CAN NOT BE BIGGER THAN our CBC Gem logo
( see sample proportion below)
2. Sponsor logos always placed at the lower left hand corner of the design surface
(see placement samples in the next two pages)
3. Sponsor logos with no tag lines are preferred
4. Both light and dark version of sponsor logos must be provided.

When placing sponsor logos on CBC advertisement, please adhere to the following:
1. Sponsor logos CAN NOT BE BIGGER THAN the CBC Gem logo

3. Sponsor logos with no tag lines are strongly recommended, as this
will effect the prominence and legibility of the logo

6. Please note that digital advertising which appears on external
publishers’ websites are subject to the publisher’s policy on third party
advertising. Sponsor logos are prohibited on certain external

7. No sponsor logos will be featured on digital banners or
advertisements with a pixel area smaller than 728x90 (calculated by
multiplying width by height of ad space.)
