introduces new Toowoomba distributor
Years of touring around Australia with a
caravan quite often helping other travellers
made Michael Prentice realise a” specialist
caravan repair” business was necessary.
Deciding on a name was easy as Micks
wife Kath is very involved in the running of
accounts & wages etc, ‘MAKS Onsite Caravan
Repairs’ was born. Within two years Michaels
son Kris & daughter Rebecca had joined him
in the business as well.
A modest start doing onsite repairs from his
home in Toowoomba quickly grew to the need
for a shed. Now six years down the track the
shed has become a complex capable housing
three of the largest vans on the road with
another dozen or more being worked on at any given time in the yard. The staff of about
ten are fully trained & include sheet metal
workers, welders, cabinet maker electricians,
gas fitters & mechanics.
MAKS is becoming widely known throughout
Eastern Australia from Melbourne to Cairns
& the far West. They specialise in warranty &
insurance work, road worthy & gas certificates
for people wishing to buy & sell. MAKS carry
an extensive range of spare parts to cover all
aspects of caravan life including upgrades
& repairs plus the luxury items like washing
machines, satellite TV, air-conditioners, larger
fridges, freezers & more. The spare parts
inventory is growing rapidly .
Vans with hail damage have been completely
reskinned & leave the job as they left the
factory when new, interior refits to customer
requirements are becoming a large part of this
growing business. Full suspension rebuilds to
handle anything the Australian roads throw at
them are commonplace.
Several makeovers recently on Retro Vans for
mobile coffee outlets has started another side
to an already growing list of possibilities, for
instance a recent job is now doing hire work
for out-door events including private parties &
weddings.
Horse floats, work trailers for tradies & mobile
work-shops can be fitted out to your individual
needs & quotes are already in the pipe line to
convert large goose-neck horse floats to a
50/50 combo for accommodation & of course
the horses. We also do quotes for roll on roll off
temporary accommodation for trucks.
MAKS hope to be on the move in the early New
Year to a brand new user friendly purpose built
facility just around the corner at 26-36 Euston
Road. Keep an ‘eye out for opening specials’.
