All teams must register BEFORE their 1st game if OWHA Pick Up Consent forms are being and must be presented at Headquarters failing to do so may result in forfeiture of games. Countryside Arena is the Official Tournament Headquarters. 2. All Atom/Peewee games will consist of 3 periods (12-12-12 minute), stop time periods and all Bantam/Midget and Intermediate games will consist of (12-15-15 minute), stop time periods. 3. There will be a 3 minute warm-up prior to each game. All games begin immediately upon completion of the 3 minute warm up. The clock will not stop at the opening mark but will continue until the first stoppage of the game. 4. All teams MUST be available to play up to 30 minutes prior to the scheduled start time. 5. Hockey Canada and OWHA rules shall apply. The OWHA minimum suspension guidelines will be strictly enforced. All suspensions will be enforced according to OWHA 2012-2013 Constitution, By-laws, and Regulations & Rules. 6. Girls will shake hands after each game with GLOVES ON. 7. If the goal spread at any time of the third period reaches 5 goals, the clock will run until the spread is reduced to 3 goals, then stop time will resume. The clock may be stopped at the Referee’s discretion for injury or for intentional delay of game 8. One - 30 second timeout will be allowed for each team ONLY during Elimination- Quarter - Semifinal & Championship games only. Overtime is NOT a new game. There is NO TIMEOUT in Round Robin Games. 9. A maximum 17 skaters and 2 goaltenders may be registered with each team. 10. A player may only participate with one designated team in a tournament and may only participate in one tournament on any date. 11. To be eligible to participate in the tournament, the participant’s name must appear on the team roster form submitted with the entry form. Changes to the roster must be made in writing and will not be permitted after registration prior to the first game. Players on Ontario teams must be registered with the OWHA. The OWHA “Pickup Consent” forms will be honoured and must be included where necessary based on OWHA Rules and before the first game of the tournament. 12. Teams will be awarded 2 points for a win, 1 point for a tie and zero (0) points for a loss. 13. Standings after the round robin will be calculated on the basis of the points awarded as per rule # 12. In the event of a tie, the following criteria will be used to break the tie: a) Winner between the tied teams when they played head to head. (Applies to 2 way ties only, 3 or more teams tied start with tied breaker 13b. b) Percentage as calculated by dividing team’s total “Goals For” by the SUM of the team’s “Goals For and Goals Against”. TGF / ( GF+GA) = % (See Chart ) c) Fewest Goals Against. d) Most Goals For. e) Fewest Penalty Minutes. f) Coin Toss. g) Follow Tie breaking rules in Order. Once a Tie Breaking Rule has been used or is not applicable it cannot be used again. 14. Atom AA, Bantam AA, Bantam A & Midget A Divisions: 1st and 2nd overall advance to the finals. 15. Peewee A and Midget AA Division: After round robin, teams placing 1st and 4th and 2nd and 3rd advance to semi finals. Winners of the semi finals advance to the finals. 16. Intermediate A Division: Six teams, after round robin games, teams placing 5th and 6th will play a consolation final game. Teams placing 1st and 4th and 2nd and 3rd advance to semi finals. Winners of the semi finals advance to the finals. 2012 17. Elimination, Semi-Finals & Championship games are played to a winner. In the event of a tie at the end of regulation time, a Sudden Victory 5-minute overtime will commence. Teams will play 4 on 4 PLUS Goalies. (See format for rules) Players may be changed at any time. Goalies may be “pulled” at any time and a substitute player from the bench may be used. If still tied, a shoot out will occur. 18. Shoot Outs: Teams do not change ends for Overtime or Shoot Outs. Each team must designate 3 shooters (S1, S2, S3) directly onto the game sheet prior to the start of the game. Any player serving a penalty at the end of overtime will not be eligible to participate in the shoot out and will remain in penalty box. All players except shooter and goalies will be on the bench. Once a player has shot, they will go to the penalty box. Shooters from both teams will shoot simultaneously, starting at centre ice. All 3 designated shooters from each team will shoot. If still tied, each team will designate one shooter at a time until there is a winner (sudden victory). A player may not shoot for a second time until all players on the official game sheet (except goalies & players serving penalties) have shot. 19. Home teams must wear light coloured jerseys where possible. In the event of a conflict, the home team must change their jerseys. Visiting teams will advise opposing team of any conflict 30 minutes prior to game time. Pinnies may be used as required All house teams where possible are encouraged to have 2 sets of jerseys and or pinnies to avoid conflicts. 20. All players and team officials must sign the game sheet prior to each game. 21. Flooding of the ice will occur at the end of each game or between periods as required and may be deferred at the Tournament Committee’s discretion. 2012 22. It is the team’s responsibility to ensure a clean dressing room is left upon completion of their game. All teams are requested to vacate the dressing room 30 minutes or less after their game is completed 23. Any team who creates a disturbance either inside the rink or outside the rink (e.g.: Hotel etc.) that is reported to the Tournament Committee, will be subject to disciplinary action. Each team is reminded that they are ambassadors in the community, representing not only their particular team but the S.D.G.H.A., their Home Association and Female Hockey in general. 24. The decisions of the Tournament Officials are final with no appeals! OVERTIME RULES Elimination, Semi-final and Championship Games OWHA Sanction #1213004 − − − − − − − − − − − Elimination, Semi-final and Championship games are played to a winner. All 3 designated shooters from each team will shoot. 2012 If still tied, each team will designate one shooter at a time until there is a winner (sudden victory). A player may not shoot for a second time until all players on the game sheet (except goalies) have shot. If a penalty occurs during the 5 - Minute Stop Time overtime, the teams play 4 on 3. If a second penalty is called on the SAME TEAM and the first penalty has not expired, then it will be treated as a delayed penalty and will commence when the first penalty expires. The Maximum a Team may be at a disadvantage is 4 on 3 **WE RESPECTFULLY ASK FOR YOUR ASSISTANCE IN THAT NO TEAM PHOTOS BE TAKEN ON ICE DUE TO Municipality & City Insurance Regulations. **Championship Awards and Medals MAY be Presented Off-ice if deemed by Tournament Officials due to time Constraints and will be presented at a determined location as required. If you are NOT using a PICKUP CONSENT FORM, please feel free to arrive directly AFTER your first game. ALL Official OWHA Forms are available at www.owha.on.ca/forms_policies.asp 2012 OWHA Call Up & Pickup Players & Paperwork: It is your responsibility to have a very clear understanding of this rule and your responsibility to ensure you are in accordance with these requirements. OWHA Pickup Consent Form – Needed for ALL OWHA Sanctioned Tournaments. Any OWHA player new to your roster that has been added via ANOTHER TEAM USING OWHA Sanctioned Tournament PICKUP CONSENT FORM MUST PRESENT THIS PAPERWORK TO THE HEADQUARTERS BEFORE YOUR FIRST GAME. REGARDLESS, we must see 1 Team Official at headquarters who is carrying the team's complete paperwork (OWHA OFFICIAL ROSTER or USA Hockey Roster) to process your Final Registration failing to do so may results in forfeiture of any games played at the discretion of the Tournament Director. WHAT OFFICIAL DOCUMENTATION IS REQUIRED BY TEAMS AT CHECKIN? ALL ONTARIO TEAMS - We will need to view your OFFICIAL OWHA APPROVED Roster Sheet for player verification. Please contact your associations Rep Director or Registrar today to obtain a copy if you do not have one in your possession. Please ensure you have read this year’s OWHA Handbook Constitution, Bylaws, Rules and Regulations regarding pick up players. Players may only compete with 1 team and in 1 tournament at one time unless prior approval has been granted by the OWHA. All USA REGISTERED TEAMS: All USA TEAMS will be required to produce a Photocopy of your Official USA Hockey Roster complete with player and team staff signatures. All USA Teams must have their Travel Permits Available to hand in a COPY at Headquarters. WHAT EQUIPMENT IS CONSIDERED MANDATORY AS A REMINDER? ALL USA TEAMS - Mandatory Mouth guards are required as per your USA Hockey Insurance ALL CANADIAN TEAMS - Mandatory BNQ Neck guards are required as per Hockey Canada Insurance WE HAVE A STAFF MEMBER OR PLAYER SUSPENDED WHAT DO WE DO? Any player or staff currently serving suspensions must be indicated on the game sheets in the usual manner This information is to be placed in the area where the player's signature would normally go. IE- (Game 2 of 3) WHERE CAN WE FIND GAME RESULTS FOR THIS TOURNAMENT? Game results will be posted on the website: www.sudburygirlshockey.com BACK UP & CONTINGENCY PLAN: In the event the internet services go down and everything electronically shuts down we will have Paper Available and will have POSTED HARD COPY PAPER RESULTS. If the above occurs these results WILL ONLY BE POSTED INSIDE HEADQUARTERS LOCATION. These will be considered the official record if needed. DO WE NEED TO BRING LABELS FOR GAME SHEETS? YES – please bring OWHA approved labels which are available through ITSPORTSNET. If for some reason an adjustment to your players or staff have inadvertently not shown up on the game sheet, it is your responsibility to change and add player names and #s on ALL 3 Copies of the game sheets for accuracy. 2012 MANAGERS: Please also bring your own games sheet labels just in case something has gone wrong to help speed up the process especially when we reach Semi - Finals. Players and staff will sign ALL Game Sheets and If Absent they must be marked ABSENT in place of their signature. Each team is requested to ensure when filling in your game sheets you write in your OWHA or USA HOCKEY Team # on ALL game sheets if missing. WHAT DO WE DO IF A PLAYER HAS ARRIVED LATE DUE TO TRAFFIC AND NOT SIGNED THE GAME SHEET? Any players arriving late will once they step on the ice go directly to the Timekeepers Area and will sign the game sheet. Sorry we do not allow game sheets to be taken to dressing rooms as such they remain at the game sheet sign in area at all times and are considered OFFICIAL PROPERTY OF THE OWHA. WE WERE GIVEN A WHITE COPY OF THE GAME SHEET? NO WHITE COPIES of Game Sheets should be given back to your team official by any convenor. If this DOES happen in error please ensure you do not take this white copy, as it is property of the OWHA and immediately return to the Arena Convenor. WHERE DO WE GET OUR TEAMS COPY OF THE GAMESHEET AFTER THE GAME? The timekeepers normally drop by your dressing room following the game. If not delivered successfully it will be in the area near the actual game sheet sign in area. PLAYER OF GAME AWARDS Coaches will select a player from their own team and let the Timekeeper know their selection. Please ensure you assist the Timekeeper or tournament official when this request is made to help speed up the process. WHERE DO WE GET DRESSING ROOMS & KEYS? Ask when you arrive at the facilities front desk or most likely the game sheet sign in table. ARRIVE CLEAN - KEEP IT CLEAN - VACATE AS QUICKLY AS POSSIBLE, EVERYONE APPRECIATES A CLEAN ROOM. HOW EARLY CAN A GAME START? As a reminder, we can start UP to 30 Minutes before any scheduled game and appreciate that our CONVENORS will keep you informed of what their plans are. E- PROGRAMS: In an effort to be environmentally friendly, we will not be printing programs. A tournament “E-Program” will be posted online at www.sudburygirlshockey.com . Maps to the arenas and the city will be available in the program. 2012 Ice Pads: Directions to each of the facilities are available at www.arenamaps.com 1. Gerry McCrory (Countryside Sports Complex): This arena is Tournament Headquarters and is where registration for all teams shall take place prior to their first game. This is a NEW twin ice pad arena located at the south end of Sudbury at 235 Countryside Dr. Parking is free and there is a snack bar at this arena. There will also be various vendors on site. This facility is being used Friday, Saturday and Sunday. There is an ATM machine located in the lobby. 2. Carmichael Arena: This is a single ice pad located at 1298 Bancroft Drive which is just off of the Kingsway in Sudbury. There is a snack bar and parking is free. This arena is being used for 1 Intermediate game only on Saturday, Sept. 29th. There is an ATM machine located in the lobby. 3. Sudbury Arena: This downtown arena is located at 240 Elgin St., home of the Sudbury Wolves OHL team. This arena is being used Friday night and Sunday morning. Parking is located beside the arena or at the back of the arena off of Minto St. There is an ATM machine at the front entrance of the arena however there are no snack bars open during this tournament. 4. Dr. Edgar Leclair Arena (Azilda): This is a single ice pad located at 158 St. Agnes St. in Azilda. There is free parking and a snack bar available.
