subtle ways to abandon the
authority of scripture
Monday, 7:00pm
Auditorium
Most of us in this assembly are alert to scholarship that denies
the reliability, truthfulness, and authority of the Scriptures.
Nevertheless there are many voices which affirm Scriptures’
authority, but which undermine that authority in much more
subtle ways. This workshop surveys such habits of mind and
speech, in the hope that we can avoid such pitfalls ourselves.

learning to think brilliantly
about contemporary culture
Tuesday, 9:15am
Auditorium
The great American theologian, Jonathan Edwards, is wellknown for a particularly famous sermon (“Sinners in the Hands
of an Angry God”), as well as for being an iconic figure in the
contemporary Reformed movement. He is sometimes less well
understood as a significant voice in teaching us how to engage
biblically without compromise and with care in the core issues
undergirding contemporary secular culture and development. In
this seminar we will explore the story of Edwards from an easily
accessible, non-technical standpoint to expose the central tenets
of his thinking with relation to the core challenges of contemporary
(postmodern) culture.

Campus. He graduated with degrees in Biblical Counseling and
History from The Master’s College and has a master’s degree
from Trinity Evangelical Divinity School. Jonathan authored The
Company We Keep: In Search of Biblical Friendship and is a
member of the Biblical Counseling Coalition. He is married to
Jennifer and they have four daughters.
breakout
the pastor as counselor
There are few things in pastoral ministry which can seem as
daunting as pastoral counseling. While many pastors enjoy the
personal study and proclamation of the Word, many struggle
to minister the word of God to hurting and struggling believers.
Should pastors be involved with counseling? When do you
refer out to a professional counselor? In this seminar, the
theological imperative for interpersonal ministry of the Word
will be discussed along with practical instruction for how to
develop a counseling ministry in your church.
