THERMOMETERS - LONG IMMERSION TYPE,
WITHOUT GROUND JOINT, YELLOW BACK
Mercury filled, yellow backed, etched stem, available in -10 to 250°C
and -10 to 360°C. Subdivisions on both ranges are 1°. Length of the
250% thermometers, exclusive of the immersion, is 11 inches; of the
360%, 12 inches. These thermometers can be used with the
thermometer adapters shown under 14-6900 to 14-6950.

These 76 mm immersion thermometers are sealed in an inert, transparent Teflon® jacket which absorbs shock and prevents shattering.
The jacket prevents contamination and also serves to retain the mercury and glass in case of breakage. Thermometers are 300 mm long.
All thermometers are serialized; accurate to NIST (NBS) tolerances.

DIAL, BACK-CONNECTED, 2 1/2 INCH STEM
Industrial grade back-connected bE-metallic 3 inch diameter dial is ideal
for many applicatLons. Can be easily recalibrated with hex screw. Made
o1 18-8 type 304 stainless steel with all welded construction. Stern
diameter is r/4 with V2 inch NPT connection nut. Single scale in either
°F or %. Actuated by super-sensitive bE-metallic helix coil.
Bi-metallic element is dampened with silicone for minimum pointer
vibration and maximum heat transfer. Accuracry is _+1% around the
entire dial range. Dial is protected by extra heavy glass crystal Stern
should be immersed at least 2 inches in liquid and 4 inches in gases.
Length of stem is 2 ~/2 inches including threads, not suitable for gases.

Big-Digit Thermometer offers easy to read temperatures from across
the lab. Dual displays permit reading ambient and probe temperatures simultaneously, Minimum/maximum memory reading may be
displayed or reset at the touch of a button. Temperature range of
ambient sensor, located inside of thermometer housing, is 23 to
122°F end -5 to 50°C. The external temperature probe with a 1g-foot
cable has an operating range of -58 to 158°F and -50 to 70°C.
Temperature resolution is O.t ° end accuracy is -+1°C. Minimum/maximum memory feature permits storing temperature records

These recording thermometers have a wide range of laboratory
applications such as continuous recording of temperatures in heated
or refrigerated incubators, controlled temperature rooms,
fermentation cabinets or similar compartments. They can also be
used for meteorological recordings if suitably protected from rain,
snow and direct sunlight. Each instrument consists of a hi-metallic
coil which has a thermal responsiveness of 0.5°F, recording pen and
chart which is turned by a sturdy spring-wound clock, all mounted in
a strong plastic case which can be flush mounted, suspended or set
on a level surface. Temperature chart is 4 1/2 inches in diameter. Each

Designed to measure surface temperatures in limited space. Bimetallic
sensor comes in close contact with surface to be measured, providing
a very fast response time. Made of stainless steel, they are rugged and
will hold calibration indefinitely unless mishandled. Dial face (3/4 inch)
and graduations are fired ceramic on stainless steel. An ancillary pointer
is held by a magnetic clutch and indicates the highest or lowest temperature reached in a given period. It withstands vibration and jarring of
normal use and can be reset indefinitely. Ideal for testing temperatures
of electronic parts as well as heat exchangers, circulating ovens, lab

One piece non-sparking cup-case molded out of a smooth, black,
heat and chemical resistant plastic. The cup capacity of 120 mL
meets with API and ASTM requirements. The scale is engraved on the
tube for greater accuracy. The permanently etched thermometer
tubes are furnished in Yellow Lens tubing for easier reading. Tube is
held in place by spring clips, and can be replaced without tools.

These sets of thermometers cover the range from -38 to 405°C or
-36 to 761°E Each set consists of 9 thermometers in a felt-lined
leatherette case, Each thermometer has been calibrated against NIST
standards and comes with a calibration document showing corrections to the nearest tenth of a scale division traceable to NIST. Each
incorporates the ice point (0% or 32°F) as a reference point. This
enables the user to validate and update the calibration document, to
insure accurate measurements over the life of the thermometer. Each

REUNITING SEPARATEDMERCURYCOLUMNS*
The largestsingle causefor the failure of precisionthermometers in the lab is
due to separated mercury columns. This can occur in transif or in the lab. The
life of the instrument can be greatly extended if the following proceduresare
rigidly employed. Other methods may cause damage to the thermomete~
A. COOLINGMETHOD:
With the thermometerin an updght position gradually immerse ONLYthe bulb
in a solution of solid CO (Dry-Ice) and alcohol so that the mercury column
retreatsslowly into the butb. Do not cool the stem or mercury column. Keepthe
bulb in the solution until the main column as well as the separated portion
r~re~s into the bulb. Removeand swing thermometer in short arc forcing all
the mercury into the bulb. Most mercury thermometerscan be reunited using
this method regardless of range (with the exception of deep immersion thermometere) provided ONLYTHE BULB is immersed in the CO2
CAUTION:
1. Do not touch the bulb until it has warmed sufficiently for the mercury
to emerge from the bulb into the capillary.
2. Never subject the stem or mercury column to the CO solution as it will
freezethe mercury column in the capillaryand may causei~e bulb to fraofure.
B. HEATING METHOD:
This method applies to thermometers with a maximum range of 260% or
500°F, equipped with expansion chambers sufficiently large to accommodate the separ~ion plus a portion of the main column. Immerse as much of
bulb AND STEMas possible in a large beakercontaining a liquid whose flash
point is well abovethe highest indication of the thermometer being reunifed.
Heat the beakerstirring the liquid with the thermometer until the separation
and a portion of the main column enter the chambe~ Tap thermometer in
palm of gloved hand reuniting column. Allow to cool slowly.
CAUTION:
1. Never use open flame on bulb.
2. Never fill expansion chamber more than 2/3 full.
3. Make certain Flash Point of liquid is well above highest temperature
ndicated on the thermometer.
4. Thermometers WhOSe ranges exceed 260"0 or 500°F CAN NOT be
reurereo using heat without damaging the instrument.

have been selected for specifications approved by the Scientific Apparatus Makers' Association in conjunction with the National Institute of
Standards and Technology (NIST) formerly the National Bureau of
Standards (NBS). They have been approved by Subcommittee V of
ASTM E26-05 and also meet American National Standard Institute
(ANSI) specifications. All thermometers listed are made from the
finest thermometric glass available for strength, clarity and thermal
sensitivity. Each is individually pointed at close intervals to assure
accuracy over the entire range and has its own individual serial
number. Partial immersion thermometers are calibrated (unless otherwise stated) for 76 mm immersion, measured from the bottom o1

Thermometers have an adjustable bushing with a standard taper of 10/
18. A neoprene grommet at the top of the bushing permits the thermometer to slide through, allowing a variety of immersion lengths. Vapor
temperatures and liquid temperatures may be taken alternately without
dismantling equipment. The 6 inch immersion length can be used for
flasks from 250 to 3000 mL, and the 12 inch for flasks from 5000 to
22,000 mL. Subdivided into 1°C divisions. Stems are yellow backed for
good legibility. Individual serial number I.D. is on each thermometer.

and incubators. Both a high and low alarm may be programmed in 1°
increments. When temperature rises or falls below sot points, a 1 minute
audible alarm signals an out-of-range situation. Alarm automatically resets itself when temperature returns to within set points. Alarm mode
may be switched off when not required. Operating temperature range is
-58 to 500.8°F and -50 to 2600Cwith resolution of 0.1° and accuracy of
+_1°C.Switch from °F to °C or set high/low alarms. Digital display is 1 1/2

The DuaLogR is a dual input portable thermometer and data logger,
which can manually store or automatically log up to 1000 sets of
readings in real time. Log interval is selectable from 1 second to 60
minutes. Data can be directly downloaded to the optional infrared
printer or to a computer with the optional RS232 interface adapter.

These recording thermometers have a wide range of laboratory
applications such as continuous recording of temperatures in heated
or refrigerated incubators, controlled temperature rooms,
fermentation cabinets or similar compartments. They can also be

Suitable for holding up to 25 thermometers in the correct vertical
position, thus avoiding mercury separation, which often occurs when
thermometers are improperly stored. Manufactured from V4 inch
polypropylene, the rack is sturdy and will not tip. Sides have large
comfortable carry handles. The top and middle plates have 5/~6 inch
hole diameters. The bottom plate has convenient V8 inch diameter
drain holes. Overall dimensions are 8 x 10 x 5 3/4 inches deep. The
