Charting the comeback of Dan Coyle Jr, a failed
amateur boxer from a long line of accomplished
fighters. Living in the twin shadows of his overbearing
father and his brother’s Olympic success, Dan lets
his training slip in favour of girls and booze. Then, an
incident with his father minutes before a crucial bout
splinters the family and exiles Dan from the ring. It’s
not until the birth of his own son years later that his
competitive fire is reignited, and he takes the first
tentative steps on his road to redemption.

falling and flying in a charmingly clownish way.

4 POOFS AND
A PIANO
With their jaunty re-workings
of show tunes, funk, punk, rap
and swing, 4 Poofs And A Piano
became a huge success on the

played to audiences of 5 million or
more. In August 2004, they took
their own show NEVER MIND THE

where they entertained sell out
audiences and received rave
reviews including the coveted 4
Star review from The Scotsman.
Julian will also reminisce on his many
collaborations with musicians as diverse as
Yehudi Menuhin, Joaquín Rodrigo, jazz greats
Cleo Laine and Stephane Grapelli, as well as
Elton John and, of course, his brother Andrew.

DYLAN MORAN:
YEAH, YEAH
Ageing, religion, kids and
relationships intertwine with the
general absurdities of life. Searing
observations and sumptuous
imagery, painted across a
large fraying canvas with cruel,
curmudgeonly ‘Moranesque’ brush
strokes and all delivered with Dylan’s
renowned, shambolic charm…
It’s simply Unmissable.
On an enchanted Christmas Eve, under the branches
of the Christmas tree the Nutcracker battles with
the Mouse King. In this magical Christmas tale, Clara
falls in love and travels with her valiant Nutcracker
across a magical snow covered land to the Land of
Sweets where her adventure really begins.
Ireland’s leading ballerina, Monica Loughman,
features alongside Russian Ballet Legends and
a corps de ballet drawn from some of the best

“Drink yourself up on to the next shelf in the basement. Drink to where
possibility feels infinite and your immortality feels strong.”
It’s Christmas Eve and Sharky has returned to Dublin to look after his
irascible, ageing brother who’s recently gone blind. Old drinking buddies Ivan
and Nicky are holed up at the house too, hoping to play some cards. With the
arrival of a stranger from the distant past, the stakes are raised ever higher.

In the midst of this eerie, darkly humorous tale, celebrated playwright Conor
McPherson celebrates the tender story of a family and examines how we
face the demons of our past as we struggle to find redemption. So, pull up a
chair alongside Sharky, Nicky, Ivan and co and enjoy a great story, well told.

Not to be missed ”
EMER O’KELLY, SUNDAY
INDEPENDENT
There’s something strange in the neighbourhood of
contemporary Denmark. Who are you going to call? That
is the question. In Pan Pan’s purgatorial presentation of
Shakespeare’s classic tragedy, you as the audience are
faced with a choice: who is to be, or not to be, Hamlet?
Actors compete to play the title role, but as we enter the
graveyard world of this icon of individualism, can anyone
escape playing the Dane? Aren’t we all the main part?
Highly innovative and visually breathtaking, this is an
audacious and irreverent riff on Hamlet that does not so
much update or deconstruct the play as it does explode it.
Winner of the 2010 Irish Times Theatre Awards for Best
Production and Best Design. Critics Choice as Best Show
at the 2010 Dublin Theatre Festival.
Enchanting and evocative, Mozart’s final operatic
masterpiece The Magic Flute, is a lyrical love story, set
against an atmospheric backdrop of fantasy and mischief.
The Queen of the Night is determined to use her only daughter Pamina as a
pawn in the continuing war with her estranged husband, Sarastro. She recruits
Tamino, a prince and Papageno, a bird-catcher to steal her daughter away from
her father. Will Tamino survive his dangerous quest? Will Papageno find the
woman of his dreams? Will love prevail over hate? Mozart’s most popular opera
is for all ages and opera aficionados and newcomers alike.
Sung in English and directed by Annilese Miskimmon, design is by Nicky Shaw
with lighting design by Sinead McKenna. Opera Theatre Company’s chamber
ensemble performs the captivating score with music direction by Brenda Hurley.

OUT OF
TIME
Devised and Performed by
COLIN DUNNE
Directed by
SINEAD RUSHE
A leading figure in the world of traditional Irish
dance, Colin has made the cross over into
contemporary dance and theatre. A multiple
World Irish Dance champion in his teens, he
was the lead male dancer in Riverdance from
1995 to 1998, but in recent years he has been
forging a new creative path. In 2007 he was
nominated for a UK National Dance Award for
performances at The Barbican.
Out of Time, his first solo show, seamlessly
integrates movement, text, film and sound
design with the Irish step dance tradition to
offer a contemporary perspective. Dunne’s
percussive footwork is digitally processed live,
then looped, remixed and layered to create a
hauntingly evocative soundscore. Visually he
is joined onstage by projected archival images
of dancers from the 1930s onwards - including
himself as a ten year old boy.

ALADDIN
Renmore’s 33rd annual pantomime is a new hilarious
version of Aladdin, specially scripted by Panto Dame
Peter Kennedy who also plays ‘Widow Twankey’.
Well known Galway performers sparkle to life in
this traditional tale of comical confusion, romantic
interludes and of course the evil Abanazar. Enjoy the
magical world of a flying carpet, a Genie popping out
of a rusty lamp and a Royal Palace exploding.
Spectacular dancing, upbeat music and the delightful
little Renmore Smurfs all add to this feast of family
entertainment directed by Brian and Seán Power.
