ABOUT GORE® MEMBRANE
Lighting enclosures are increasingly vulnerable to the demands of evolving technologies:
higher-density components generate higher internal termperatures and pressures.
LED demands longer life of the entire system and at the same time robust protection from
both contaminants and condensation.
ZALEDA evol II is equipped with a membrane filter which equilizes internal and external
pressure, and thus eliminates stress from gasket, extending it’s service life and ensuring a
long term IP66 rate.

SELFTEST
REMOTE CONTROL
Our emergency luminaires are equipped as standard with SELFTEST function, who runs
the specified system tests and function tests automatically. Every week, the luminaire
performs a check to verify whether the luminous flux of the LED is appropriate and
every 10 weeks an autonomy test of the battery. The luminaire‘s status is indicated by
two colour LEDs on the luminaire, checking the fittings therefore simply involves noting
the LED status indicator.
Using a remote control you can program the start of tests of the lamps and battery
autonomy manually as needed. It also allows to put your emergency lighting system
in “Rest mode”. It also allows you switching off the lighting at weekends or on public
holidays without simultaneously activate the emergency lighting. This prevents the
batteries from being fully discharged, which would compromise safety.

The protection level of the luminaires against the penetration of dust,
solid matter and dampness is in accordance with the UNE 20324-93 and
the EN 60529 standards, a classification awarded for protection levels
provided for the coverings.
The third figure level of protection is in accordance with annexe ZB of UNE
20324-93 standard, and deals with mechanical protection against impact.

Is a conformity brand common to luminaires, associated equipments and information
technology equipments, that indicates the conformity with European standards.
The complying of the norms by the manufacturers is tested by external official bodies
(AENOR, VDE…).
A product that is marked with this icon complies with the dispositions of the European
Community. Luminaires must comply with 2004/108/EC for Electromagnetic Compatibility,
2006/95/EC for the production of the luminaires and 2009/125/EC for ecodesign.
RoHS The RoHS Directive restricts the use of six hazardous materials in the manufacture of various
types of electronic and electrical equipment: lead, mercury, cadmium, hexavalent chromium,
polybrominated biphenyls (PBB) and polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDE).
IP XX Protection against humidity and dust. For more information, please consult on page 46.
IK XX Protection against impact. For more information, please consult the table on page 47.

In order to show the capacity of any equipment or system to work properly in its
electromagnetic background without provoking interferences to any other system, we use
this symbol certified by VDE.
850 ºC When we get this indication, we refer to the Glow wire Test, where the thermical resistance
of the materials that compose the surface of the luminaries is controlled. If nothing is
mentioned, we will understand that the materials will reach the minimum level, 650ºC,
indicated by the EN60598.
On luminaires with electronic ballast, we mark with this item when they can be used in
places where there is need to limit the external surface temperatures, due to the risk of
accumulating combustible dust on the luminaires, but without risk of an atmosphere with
risk of an explosion.

of emitting light when a low voltage direct current (DC) passes through them and
are forward biased, that is, the positive pole of the power supply is connected to the
anode and the negative pole to the cathode.

LEDs can emit either one coloured light or white light. The spectra of white light
for different tones are shown below. Its emission is also directed to only one
hemisphere, as a result its use can be optimized.

The correct operation of a LED luminaire is determined by the quality of the LEDs,
ECG and suitable dissipation systems. ZALUX considers all these aspects at the
beginning of every new design:
• using LEDs from market leaders
• controlling the match of the LED to the selected bin
• testing the perfect operation of the ECG and dissipation system in order to
maintain the junction temperature of the LEDs (Tj) within the limits set by the
manufacturer
Only this can ensure the good appearance, high efficiency and
durability of the luminaires.

The use of LEDs as light sources in lighting has several advantages, among which
the following are included:

Robustness and security in applications with vibrations and shocks.

Long service life, reducing maintenance costs.

Excellent optical control for more compact, ergonomic and high performanced
luminaire design.
• Easiness to produce dynamic light; it allows you to adjust the intensity and tone of
light at any time.
LED
classification
LEDs are produced in a variety of shapes and sizes. Depending on the power,
we can find:
Low power Can be driven at currents up to 0.1A.
Medium power Can be driven at currents between 0.1 - 1A.
High power Can be driven at currents over 1A.
COLOR terms
BIN Grouping of LEDs with similar light performances, such as luminous flux, voltage,
optical wavelength or color temperature.
MacAdam ellipse It is the extent around a color tone in which the observer has the impression that
all comparative colors have the same distance from the reference color tone. The
dimensions in which the MacAdam ellipses are specified are SDCM (Standard
Deviation of Color Matching).
The smaller the ellipse, less color deviation is obtained. Generally speaking, it is
said that the human eye responds as follow:
If 1 SDCM: There are no color differences.
If 2 or 3 SDCM: There is hardly any visible difference.
If 4 or more SDCM: Color difference is easily perceived.

Auxiliary device that supplies electricity to the LED system. LED systems normally
use 2 types of ECGs:
These ECGs supply a constant current through the LED module. Usually they work
at 350 mA, 500 mA, 750 mA or 1,000 mA.
These ECGs supply a constant and unchanging output voltage, regardless of the
connected load. Most usual models work at 12 Vdc or 24 Vdc.
LIFE terms
[L]: Service life Amount of hours that a LED system is working with flux values over a given
threshold level. 50,000 h [L80] means that after 50,000 hours, the luminous flux will
be at least 80% of initial output.
[B]: Gradual failure Ratio of led luminaires that fall bellow the target luminous flux figure [L], at the
end of the lifetime. For example L80, B10, 50,000 h means that after 50,000 working
hours, 10% of LED luminaires will not reach 80% of the luminous flux.
LM-80 test Method for measuring lumen depreciation of solid-state (LED) light sources, arrays
and modules. It is related to the effective life time of the product. IESNA approved
method of measuring Lumen depreciation of LED light sources.
Junction Temperature of the LED’s active region. The luminous efficiency and service life of
temperature (Tj) LEDs decrease with increasing Tj temperature.
Thermal Luminaries design includes different solutions for the management and control of
management the heat generated by the LED system. Keeping Tj as cold as possible will have a
direct impact in lighting performance and life time of the system.
ASSOCIATIONS
Zhaga Consortium of hundreds of companies from throughout the global lighting industry.
It develops the specifications that enable the interchangeability of LED light sources
made by the different manufacturers. Since 2010, Trilux is a member of Zhaga.
OLED
Organic Light-Emitting Diode. LED based on organic materials (carbon). In contrast
to LEDs, which are small point sources, OLEDs are made in sheets which provide a
diffuse area light source.
