In addition, unrestricted giving is essential to the Foundation’s operations so that the money raised can be distributed to do the most good for as many undergraduate brothers as possible. To recognize and honor those who make unrestricted gifts, the Foundation Board of Trustees has established the Annual Fund program. RESTRICTED GIFTS FarmHouse alumni, parents and friends can choose to designate their gift to a specific leadership program, educational purpose, need or chapter. There are more leadership training programs, computer technology upgrades, housing needs and young FarmHouse men to support than there is current funding. PERMANENTLY RESTRICTED GIFTS (ENDOWMENTS) To make an impact on young FarmHouse men in perpetuity, FarmHouse alumni, parents and friends can establish an endowment fund through the FarmHouse Foundation. The threshold for creating an endowment is $10,000. Your gift can be made as one lump sum or spread over up to five years. Endowment funds can support leadership training, scholarships, a specific chapter or program or make an impact on all young FarmHouse men wherever the need is greatest. 1 UNRESTRICTED GIFTS (ANNUAL FUND) To recognize and honor those who make unrestricted gifts, the Foundation Board of Trustees has established the Annual Fund program. A gift to the Annual Fund helps fuel the operations of the Foundation. More importantly, an unrestricted gift can be directed to areas where support is needed the most. Many new programs and initiatives begin with the support of unrestricted money. The Foundation has two giving programs that are designed to recognize those who provide the strongest support of the Annual Fund, which are described below. POWER OF 7 SEMINAR This award‐winning Seminar is a first class think‐tank on the nation and FarmHouse Fraternity. The program is an informal forum, conducted under the leadership of the Foundation Trustees, on the international business climate and economy with an emphasis on agriculture, technology, healthcare and entrepreneurship. Membership in The Power of 7 is exclusive to alumni who pledge to give $7,000, a tax‐deductible gift, to the Annual Fund. In return for their gift, they are invited to attend a dynamic, interactive two‐day educational seminar in a casual resort setting and mentor a top junior or senior undergraduate leader. CHAIRMAN’S CLUB The Chairman’s Club is for those who provide the strongest support of the FarmHouse Foundation’s Annual Fund. All members of the Chairman’s Club receive exclusive benefits including a unique Chairman’s Club pin for new members, a “State of FarmHouse International Fraternity” report, a printed Foundation Annual Report and a Chairman’s Club Membership Directory. The Chairman’s Club giving levels are described below. SECOND 7 ($7,000 or more) Membership includes an invitation to the award‐winning Power of 7 Seminar and special Foundation dinners and alumni events. FOUNDERS CIRCLE ($1,905 to $6,999) Membership includes invitations to special Foundation dinners and alumni events. CIRCLE OF 7 ($700 to $1,904) OTHER ANNUAL FUND GIVING LEVELS CHARTER CIRCLE—$450 to $699 In honor of the 45 chapters chartered in the Fraternity’s history ANNIVERSARY CIRCLE —$109 to $449 In honor of the 109 years of FarmHouse 2 RESTRICTED GIFTS You may designate your gift to one of the Fraternity’s outstanding leadership or educational programs, your chapter’s Foundation Council for their specific educational uses and needs, or to a chapter’s Building Fund for the educational portion of their chapter house. To give to one of these initiatives, simply indicate which program or chapter you would like to support when you make your gift. Below is a complete list of how you may designate your gift. FARMHOUSE LEADERSHIP INSTITUTE THE JOURNEY: FARMHOUSE A four‐day leadership institute for chapter presidents and three other officers held each January in Kansas City, Mo. To sponsor and individual officer, it is $600 and a full‐ride chapter sponsorship is $1,800. The Journey FarmHouse is a new program for the Fraternity in 2014. FarmHouse International Fraternity and the Association of Fraternal Leadership and Values (AFLV) partnered together to offer The Journey, a service immersion trip, to all FarmHouse undergraduate members. Twenty FarmHouse men, plus facilitators, will travel internationally to offer ʺservice to their fellowmen and to the world.ʺ REGIONAL LEADERSHIP CONFERENCES A leadership program open to all FarmHouse undergraduates held regionally in non‐Conclave years. The curriculum focuses on a premier leadership book and members attend workshops on leadership, career networking, professional etiquette and financial education. TO BE & BECOME...EMERGING TALENT RETREAT A three‐day outdoor adventure retreat for new members of FarmHouse. Each chapter sends a freshman to the Retreat, which is held each year at Camp Heartland on the banks of the Missouri River outside of Kansas City, Mo. FARMHOUSE GROWS New in 2014, the ʺFarmHouse GROWSʺ recruitment school was created to encourage and support chapter growth in FarmHouse chapters across North America. Each chapter has the opportunity to send 2‐4 recruiters to Kansas City in January for an intense weekend of recruitment training. The GROWS curriculum and facilitation is provided via the Fraternityʹs partnership with Recruitment Boot Camp. 3 FOUNDATION COUNCILS The Foundation and, therefore, the Foundation Councils, can only use funds for educational purposes. When you make a gift to your chapter’s Foundation Council, they can use these funds for leadership training programs and retreats, scholarships, computer and related technology, library/study facilities and other educational purposes. Your gift will be designated to your chapter, and because you are giving through the Foundation, your entire gift is tax‐deductible. BUILDING FUNDS Gifts to the Foundation’s Building Fund accounts are fully tax‐deductible. Because of this, funds designated for the building fund accounts are used solely for the educational portion of chapter housing. This amount is determined by an architect and generally ranges between 30‐45% of the building project. PERMANENTLY RESTRICTED GIFTS (ENDOWMENT FUNDS) Endowment funds are permanently restricted so that only the income from the funds is to be used for the purpose agreed to with the donor when the Foundation accepts the gift. Endowments may be established with a lump‐sum gift, in installments or with a bequest or other planned gift. Endowment funds may be established to support any program or initiative you choose. We have many endowments for leadership training, academic or study abroad scholarships, computer technology, unrestricted support—there are many possibilities. INFORMATION FOR ENDOWING A GIFT 




Ten thousand dollars ($10,000) is currently the threshold for establishing an endowment, which can be made in a lump sum or spread over up to five years. Historically the Foundation’s return on the investment pool of endowed funds has averaged 8‐10%, and has paid out three to five percent for qualified educational programs and projects. Currently, for endowment funds eligible to fund a pay‐out, the spending allowance pay‐out rate is set at 3.25 percent, with a 1.75 percent management fee for a total of 5 percent (5%), but is subject to change bi‐annually at the Trustees’ discretion. Anything over 5 percent is plowed back into the endowment to provide growth and as a hedge against inflation due to the fluctuations in the market. New endowment funds with a principal balance of $100,000 or more will have an annual 1 percent management fee instead of the 1.75 percent fee. In addition to creating a new endowment fund, you may also choose to add to an endowment fund already established. For a complete list of endowment funds, please see the appendix. To learn more about creating an endowment fund, please contact Allison Rickels, Executive Director, at (800) 722‐1905 or [email protected]. 4 GIVING OPTIONS Every year hundreds of FarmHouse alumni, undergraduates, parents and friends support the FarmHouse Foundation. Your contribution helps advance the mission and goals of FarmHouse to be a Builder of Men. To make a gift to the FarmHouse Foundation, choose one of the many giving options below. You can designate your gift to the Annual Fund, a program of your choice, your chapter or an endowment fund. MAKE A GIFT TODAY You can make a gift today online or via credit card or check. Online: www.FarmHouse.org/Foundation Credit Card: fill out the form in the appendix and mail it in. Check: fill out the form in the appendix and mail it in. MEMORIAL & HONOR GIFTS Making a gift in memory or recognition of a brother or loved one ensures the individual’s well‐deserved legacy lives on within FarmHouse. Any amount can be directed toward this type of recognition. Simply indicate who you would like to honor when making your gift. The family or honoree will be informed of your kindness. Names of memorialized alumni and the individuals who gave in their recognition or honor are included in Pearls & Rubies. EMPLOYER MATCHING Many companies encourage support of charitable causes by offering to match gifts made by their employees to qualifying 501(c)3 organizations, such as the FarmHouse Foundation. To find out if your company matches gifts, please contact your human resources office. MONTHLY/QUARTERLY GIFTS The Electronic Transfer Gift Program allows you to have money withdrawn directly from your account without having to write monthly checks or one substantial check. You can make a monthly or quarterly gift on the 1st of 15th of the month from your checking account or credit card to an initiative of your choice. Fill out the form in the appendix and mail it in to start your electronic gift today. 5 Continued... GIVING OPTIONS (cont’d) STOCK GIFTS Making a gift of stock offers two major tax benefits. You can avoid capital gains taxes on appreciated stock and you can deduct the full fair market value of the gift from your taxes in the year you make the gift. They can be transferred electronically from your brokerage account or they can be sent through the mail in certificate form. For more information about making a gift of stock, please contact Allison Rickels, Executive Director, at (800) 722‐1905 or [email protected]. PLANNED GIVING Bequests, trusts, charitable gift annuities, charitable remainder trusts—
the Foundation offers a variety of options for leaving a legacy with FarmHouse Fraternity. The best way to explore our planned giving options is through our Gift Illustrator on our website. GIFTS OF GRAIN Build the future of young FarmHouse men with an agricultural gift. By gifting grain to The FarmHouse Foundation, you avoid including the sale of the agricultural gift in your farm income, which reduces the amount you have to pay taxes on and the expenses to grow the donated crop are not segregated out, so you still deduct the expense of raising your gift. For more information about making a gift of grain, please contact Allison Rickels, Executive Director, at (800) 722‐1905 or [email protected]. REAL ESTATE GIFTS Using real estate assets to make a gift to the FarmHouse Foundation may be a good fit for your personal situation and that of your family. Gifts of land or real estate, though not complicated, do require plan‐
ning. Once arranged, such gift plans deliver the additional benefit of peace of mind – and pride that you are keeping your land’s legacy, as well as your own, alive. The FarmHouse Foundation is available to help you make your dream of creating a gift of great purpose a reality. Contact Allison Rickels, Executive Director, at (800) 722‐1905 or [email protected] to learn more about making a gift of Real Estate. 6 Continued... GIVING OPTIONS (cont’d) LIFE INSURANCE GIFTS Life insurance is a useful vehicle for making a substantial gift for the future of the Foundation without removing major assets from your portfolio. A fully paid‐up policy can be donated by naming the Foundation as the irrevocable owner and beneficiary of the policy. For more information about making a gift of life insurance, please contact Allison Rickels, Executive Director, at (800) 722‐1905 or [email protected]. DONOR‐ADVISED FUNDS A donor‐advised fund (DAF) is a giving program that allows you to combine the most favorable tax benefits with the flexibility to easily support the FarmHouse Foundation. To learn more about Donor‐
Advised Funds, please visit the Foundation website (under giving) or contact Allison Rickels, Executive Director, at (800) 722‐1905 or [email protected]. CHARITABLE GIFT ANNUITY A gift annuity is a simple, contractual agreement between one or two donors and the FarmHouse Foundation in which assets are transferred in exchange for lifetime income. You receive an immediate charitable income tax deduction, and the rates are based on your age at establishment. Payments can start immediately or be deferred. For more information about setting up a charitable gift annuity with the Foundation, please contact Allison Rickels, Executive Director, at (800) 722‐1905 or [email protected]. 7 DONOR RECOGNITION ACCUMULATIVE GIVING CLUBS The FarmHouse Foundation is proud to honor alumni who reach certain giving levels accumulatively. This campaign is unique because we are not asking for your gift today, but to promise it for the future. Our goal is for 100 of us to make a new bequest or other planned gift of $10,000 or more. Providing for a bequest or other planned gift doesn’t require a lot of time or expense. It can be as easy as including a simple bequest in your will, adding a codicil to an existing will, or naming the Foundation as the beneficiary of a portion of an IRA or insurance policy. ʺ100 Legacies In The Makingʺ will grow the Foundationʹs endowment by over $1 million and enable the Foundation to help build the Fraternity of the future. 8 Appendix FarmHouse Foundation Endowment Funds

By signing up for the Electronic Transfer Gift Program, you enable the Foundation to collect donations quickly and efficiently through the Automated Clearing House (ACH) network, the highly‐trusted system in use for over 25 years. You may have used this system already by signing up to have your mortgage, loan or utility payments deducted from your account on a monthly basis. The Electronic Transfer Gift (EFT) Program is a reliable, accurate, on‐time and confidential way for you to make your donation. Each donation is deducted from your bank account or credit card on the date you specify, so it is easy to track. You will always have a record of your donations because each Electronic Transfer transaction from your account will be listed on your monthly bank or credit card statement. Another benefit is that few people see your direct payments because they are confidential transactions passing through the ACH network, whereas a check passes through many hands as it’s processed. Your gift will go directly to The FarmHouse Foundation to support the Fraternity’s leadership and educational programs. It’s truly a win‐win situation! Thank you for supporting the FH Foundation and Building the Leaders of Tomorrow! Reasons to Join Now!
