WOOD PRODUCTS - FOR EARLY
FORD V-8 VEHICLES 1932-1948
Yes, it says “Wood Products” and we are into it! Our effort to provide quality
wood products for early Ford Restorers has finally resulted in a need for a
separate catalogue.
Background: Those who have been in the hobby for a while know that for years, the old Wood
Art Co. based in Iowa did an outstanding job in furnishing the hobby with quality wood products.
A number of years ago, when their doors closed for the last time, a void started to occur in the
hobby. This condition was not realized immediately since many of their dealers had stock on
hand. As time went on, things started to get a bit “tight” and various folks started to go in
numerous directions. The eventual sale of the business brought much hope to the hobby,
especially with fresh advertising and the eventual excellent web site that posted on the internet.
Unfortunately, that is about where things ended. A few pieces from “inventory” purchased from
the original company became available as well as a small supply of product from the new
company. Other than these few pieces which eventually got consumed, it became more and
more apparent that the problem had not been resolved.
As a result of these shortages, some of the “majors” went their own way striking deals with local
wood workers and in one case a Junior High School Wood Shop class. Needless to say, the
results were something less than desirable and the condition grew worse.
As a result of our own needs and those of our existing Hardware Customers, some of whom can
be quite vocal relative to the quality of products on the market, we began a search for a master
Craftsman with the ability and desire to fill the void that had become so painful to those of us
needing quality wood products.
The pages contained here in list our offerings currently available as well as some pictures of
same. We fully realize that we have a long way to go before fully meeting all your needs,
however, we have managed to put a significant “dent” in existing shortages and are developing
additional products on a continuing basis. Obviously we solved our own selfish needs first and
have let you, our hardware customers, steer us in the direction of items needed most. We
welcome your continuing input and sincerely hope that some day the hobby will be back to
“normal”.
Roy Nacewicz
OBSERVATIONS, BACKGROUND, AND COMMENTS ……..
For four or five years, we had heard “rumblings” from our hardware customers about the lack of
needed wood and the quality of the sparse wood offerings on the market. At the time, we had no
pressing personal needs and like you were waiting for the “majors” to announce the availability
of quality wood products from the much heralded “new source” that was slow, but none the less
sure to eventually get their act together.
Eventually, it was time to build up the front seat assemblies for trim work on our ’32 Sedan
Delivery project. Since we wanted to paint the exposed components and assemble the entire seat
assembly prior to trimming, we ordered two seat bases from a most likely source. Wow, what a
surprise when the components were received! Instead of a distinct left and right hand base like
our originals, two identical pieces (a “one size fits all” product was received). Upon further
examination, the overall pattern was off by a considerable bit and the “rabbet” to accommodate
the tuck under tacking area had been omitted. In addition, one of the two pieces displayed a
considerable “warp”. All of this was much less than we expected from some one who furnishes
“kits” to install on these frames.
Realizing that this set up was not for us, we set out to find an experienced wood worker to
replicate our originals.
Since we have been known to be a bit “obsessive” about such things, we contacted our associates
at Greenfield Village, the “outdoor’ portion of the Henry Ford Museum in Dearborn for a referral
to a master Craftsman who would have an appreciation for this seemingly simple project.
What we received was a second generation master Craftsman who had not only performed some
exacting work for the Village and Museum, but had also played a major roll in the restoration of
the wood work at Henry Ford’s mansion, Fairlane, as well as some “night jobs” for some of the
Ford Family’s personal residences.
Walter Froehlich, “Mr. Walt” as he has become to be known to us was certainly over qualified for
our “simple” project but not for what was about to come, for once we were able to work with him
and observed his facility and examples of workmanship, as well as his dedication to exact
reproduction, and equally important, his desire to establish a “base” business that could be
performed “in house”, the rest of the story becomes nothing more than natural progression.
We fully understand that our wood products are not for every one. If your original wood is
usable or repairable, please by all means consider using it. Much can be accomplished by a
reputable wood worker. If you do not particularly care what some items look like that eventually
get covered up, perhaps you should accept something less if it is available. However, if you are a
“full” restorer and care about authenticity, fit and function, you may want to give us a try.
Although the wood in some cases, once covered, will probably never be seen again in our life
time, it must still function and fit……and hold its shape.
In each case, we begin with a Ford Engineering drawing and make an initial part from it. We
then compare that with a known original component to verify correctness. (Remember, unlike
metal components that were controlled by factory drawings, wood components were “mastered”
on a master pattern and the factory drawing was intended to be the “record copy” of such a part.
The master patterns have long since disappeared and any secrets therein gone for ever. As a final
check, we function the component on known original unmolested vehicles. It is only after this
last step is performed, do we offer the product to you.
If you are about to spend one, two, three or more thousands of dollars on an interior, it may be
best to install it on a foundation that will do it justice in the way that it was meant to be.

Exact Reproductions of the number 1 and
number 2 floorboards for 1932
Passenger
Cars. Made in our
newly acquired shop by our own
experienced woodworker, we have direct
control over the supply of these items.
Made precisely to the Ford Prints, these
boards are “right on the money”. Notice
that unlike others that have been
advertised, but “not available” these
boards actually have the grain pattern
running in the correct direction. They are
made from 11/16” thick plywood, made to our specific specifications in Europe, not
the common 3/4 inch thick run of the mill Home Depot grade or thickness utilized by
others in the past. This precise attention to detail, no doubt, accounts for the reason
that these actually fit flush with the sills as intended and functions and appear as
original. Note: Holes utilized for the metal transmission cover, as well as those that
may have been used for the “L” bracket reinforcements, etc. depending on the “build
period of your’32 are “spotted” with drill dimples per the actual Ford print. Since there
is some variation in body build, we let the restorer add these holes, if required, using
a simple hand drill and 3/16 drill bit. Sketch of various hole variations included.
Price per set is $195.00 plus $20.00 UPS shipping (ground)
Exact Reproductions of the number 1 and
number 2 floorboards for 1932 Pick Up and
Station Wagon. Same quality level and
attention to detail as the above passenger car
boards (see above) we are proud to offer
these to our Station Wagon and Commercial
vehicle restorers. Made in our newly
acquired shop by our own experienced
woodworker, we have direct control over the
supply of this long awaited offering.
Made precisely to the Ford Prints, these
boards are “right on the money”. Note:
Holes utilized for the metal transmission cover
which are best located during installation of
the boards are “spotted” with drill dimples per
the actual Ford print. Since there is some
variation in body build, we let the restorer add
these holes using a simple hand drill and 3/16
drill bit.
Price per set is $185.00 plus
$20.00 UPS shipping (ground)
NOTE: The version pictured is that of the four cylinder. For those
with the late V-8 version of these vehicles, please specify your special need. The V-8 version
is available by special request at no additional charge.

PLEASE NOTE: Our “traditional rodder” friends have asked for special versions of the
above boards without the battery access hole in the number 2 board and/or the grease
cup access hole in the number 1 board. Custom boards are available by special request at
no additional charge, but please be specific as to passenger car or commercial boards as
well as which holes are to be omitted.

FB-004 Number one and number two floor boards for 1932 3 window coupe. When we
introduced our 1932 Passenger car floor boards, we thought we had the field covered.
Wrong! One of our cleaver customers explained that the 3 window boards were unique.
Some time and effort spent in the Benson Ford Research Facility confirmed this fact and
we went right to work. Same wood, same precision cuts, same quality as our FB-001
Boards except specifically made for the THREE WINDOW COUPE.
Same price as the FB-001, $ 195.00 for a set of the number one and number two floor boards.
And yes, for you traditional Hot Rod enthusiasts, these boards are available without the grease
cup and/or battery access holes. Please be specific on which holes are to be omitted.
R-08-52 The number 3 floor board for 1932
Phaeton models. We told you we were
going to do wood and we meant it.
Pictured is some of the detailed “plowing”
on the corners of our boards. Made from
the correct thickness plywood as our other
floor boards, you will be pleased to install
this and actually have a flush fit with the
sills. Of course the edge welting and
hardware kits (offered in the main
catalogue) are appropriate for this unique
product as well. $ 89.95/each

1932 Ford FOUR DOOR SEDAN NUMBER 3 AND NUMBER 4 floor boards
AND
1932 Ford TUDOR SEDAN and SEDAN DELIVERY NUMBER 3 AND

Like our other 1932 floor board offerings, these boards are made from 11/16
inch premium Birch 5 ply plywood per Ford’s original specifications, (not
common 5/8 inch Lowes quality material). These boards match the quality level
of our highly acclaimed 1932 passenger car Toe Board and No 2 boards that we
introduced last year. These are just the ticket for those of you doing a two door,
four door or Sedan Delivery project.

R-08-22
Special felt strips and tacks to form the seal (Ford called them
$ 9.95/pkg
wind Breaks) on the inclined sides of the 1932 Number 1 floorboard.
Used on both passenger car and commercial, these strips filled the
gap between the wood board and metal structure. Yes, the top side
of the number one board, both sides and rear of the number two board
and all sides of the number three and four boards (if utilized on
passenger cars) were edged with cloth welting (our kit R-93-12,
page 55) but the sides of the number one utilized felt to seal the gap.
Check the engineering drawings;……..these components are plainly
depicted on the floor board prints. (kit complete with tacks, of course)

Special slotted #12 flat head wood screws and special cup washers
12.95/pkg
to attach the metal transmission shift tower cover to the number one
and number two floorboards for all 1932 passenger vehicles.
(14 pcs/kit in Ford S-2 Finish). These screws are as tough to find as
the cover they attach. We are truly pleased and proud to offer these.
Commercial and Station Wagon
Transmission Cover Plate. These are the
special stamped sheet metal plates that were riveted to the
Commercial/Station Wagon number two floor board to fill the
void around the transmission tower. Made exactly to the Ford
blue prints, there was an early version to accommodate the
“round” shifter tower and a “mid-late version (pictured) to fit the
revised tower. Please be sure to check which tower is in your
vehicle before ordering.
R-08-70 (early version)
$24.95 each
R-08-71 (mid-late version) $24.95 each
Note: although the transmission tower and the above cover plates changed during the production
cycle, the number 2 floor board did not.

B-109-P Special wood stain to simulate the original Ford finish on wood
$19.95/half pint
floor boards. We had this stain especially formulated to match the
Appearance of the preservative originally applied by Ford. (we’re
sure that regular readers of our catalogues would have been
disappointed if we had let this one slide by). And yes, if you feel
compelled to do so, you can top coat this stain with satin urethane.

1932 FORD DELUX COUPE PACKAGE TRAY ASSEMBLY (three window)
Our exact duplication of the 1932 Ford Delux coupe package tray and mounting blocks. Our
customers were not satisfied with the commonly available package tray assemblies for their
original Ford bodied cars.
We listened; we reacted and now have an accurate reproduction of this popular item made of the
finest Northern Michigan Hardwood per Ford’s original specifications.
As with all our wood products, we started with original Factory Engineering Drawings and double
checked the results with an original part and ultimately with installation in an original car.
PT32DC
$125.00 each including special #12 slotted wood screws.
Please note: This product will also fit the available reproduction bodies with some slight
modifications to accommodate the variances between the original and the reproduction bodies.

RSB032PB
Rear Seat Back Frame for
1932 Phaeton.
Our own reproduction of this
seemingly simple, yet difficult
part. Reproduced as original
with mortise and tenon joints.
Please note that without this
product, your expensive leather
will be tacked to a repro frame
that is “half” lapped and stapled.
Shame on them for cutting
those kinds of corners. ….no
pun intended! The inexpensive
frame is fine until pulled slightly off center to access the curtain
pouch. This can be upsetting in the shop, but embarrassing on the
concourse to say the least!
$189.00 each plus shipping

RSB032PS
Rear seat cushion frame for
1932 Phaeton. As with the seat
back frame above, this
component is produced to
original Ford specifications
including the mortise and tenon
construction for strength. We
understand that your seat will
probably not see much usage
at the local drive in movie, but
the installation of the seat cover
over the springs exerts constant
pressure on the frame which
does not hold up well with overlapped, stapled ends!
$ 135.00 each plus shipping. Please note that both the above seat
back and this component can be shipped in the same box affording a
savings of the shipping charge on one of the items.
And yes, for those that have asked, in the background of the above pictures is our original 29,000 mile phaeton that many of our 1932
wood parts are functioned on
Page 7
FSB032RP
Front seat cushion frame for 1932 Roadster and Phaeton models. As
with our other seat cushion and seat back frames, this component is
produced to original Ford specifications including the mortise and tenon
construction for strength. We understand that your seat may not see much
usage, but the installation of the seat cover over the springs exerts constant
pressure on the frame. The sometimes available “other” seat frame on the
market does not hold up well with half lapped, stapled ends! Like a house
built on a weak foundation, problems are sure to eventually manifest
themselves with the “less expensive” product. $ 135.00 each plus shipping.
SBF032RD
Front Seat Back for the 1932 Roadster.
Another “want” item from our customers
who tried the “other” and were not
satisfied. This piece is not as simple as it
looks and must be just right to effect the
proper fit of the seat back cushion.
Close does not work well here at all!

Front Seat bases for 1932 Pick up and Station Wagon.
Made to duplicate the original in every detail, these bases are
critical in achieving the proper side to side and fore/aft fit of
the seat bottoms to the seat back cushion.
We have seen these destroyed on most vehicles due not only
to heavy usage but as a result of the constant removal for fuel
tank refilling. These bases fit precisely around the locators on
the top of the fuel tank
Reproduced as original with mortise and tendon joints. You will
not have to worry about these becoming weak and deformed.

our tooling was purchased from the Young Co. when they closed their doors in
1950. Located just two miles from Ford’s Engineering Center and Airport, the
Young Co. was a major player in the Ford supplier chain until the gradual phase
out of wood products after WWII.

premium Birch milled in our own facility per Ford’s
original specifications. You asked for the best in
finishing touches. Try this one! $99.95 per set
We use originals as a double check for correctness
in conjunction with original Ford engineering
Drawings. Please look at the “clean cuts”, straight
edges and overall Workmanship. The joining blocks
are glued and screwed to the front support and the
proper slotted wood screws are included to
complete the assembly. The wood did not come
from Home Depot and the boards are produced by our own master craftsman, on
sight in our newly acquired wood working facility.
SR-036-A Same as above except for 1935-36 Roadster
Note: The Roadster uses the same front board as the phaeton but the side
boards are different since they are free standing and a unique rear cross board
is also utilized on the roadster model. $124.95 per set (4 pcs plus corner blocks)
RSB356PB
Rear Seat Back Frame for 1935-1936 Phaeton.
Our own reproduction of this seemingly simple, yet difficult part.
Reproduced as original
with mortise and tenon
joints. Please note that
without this product, your
expensive leather will be
tacked to a repro frame
that is “half” lapped and
stapled. Shame on them
for cutting those kind of
corners. ….no pun
intended! The
inexpensive frame is fine
until pulled slightly off
center to access the
storage area behind the
seat. This can be
upsetting in the shop, but embarrassing on the concourse to say the
least!
$189.00 each plus shipping

R-10-05 A pair of Bed Blocks for that 1935, ’36,
or ’37 Pick Up project. A nice “finishing” touch so
essential for proper look and function. Made, as original,
from Michigan grown hardwood, these blocks look and act
the part. One of the many new wood products we have
produced per your request. Seems that the sometimes
available laminated two Phillips head screw version just
wasn’t good enough anymore. Sorry, WoodArt, this one is
for YOU!

FB-037 1937 Passenger Car, Station Wagon and Sedan Delivery Floor
Boards Our exact copy of factory Originals originally supplied by the Young
Company, Dearborn Michigan. Factory Drawings confirmed our observations of
originals that like the 1935-1936 floor boards, true 5/8 5 ply plywood was utilized
in place of true 11/16 plywood utilized on 1932 through 1934. However, unlike
the 1932 through 1936, as well as 1939 and 1940 designs, the grain is orientated
front to back, not side to side. The drawings and original parts agree, so who are
we to reinvent the wheel?

FB-038 1938 Passenger Car, Station Wagon and Sedan Delivery Floor
Boards Our exact copy of factory Originals originally supplied by the Young
Company, Dearborn Michigan. Once again, Factory Drawings confirmed our
observations of originals that like the 1935-1937 floor boards, true 5/8 5 ply
plywood was utilized in place of true 11/16 plywood utilized on 1932 through
1934 and strangely enough on the 1939 design. However, unlike the 1932
through 1936, as well as 1939 and 1940 designs, the grain is orientated front to
back, not side to side.
$ 68.00/set
Please note: for those restoring an early ’38 with the dimmer switch located to
the extreme left side, we will provide that design if requested at no additional
cost.

ATTACHMENT WOOD.
THIS PIECE LOOKS RELATIVELY
SIMPLE UNTIL ONE ATTEMPTS TO
REPLICATE IT. THE UPSTANDING
FLANGE IS NOT ONLY CONTOURED
BUT INCORPORATES A 9 DEGREE
BEVEL TOP AND BOTTOM AND IS
SLIGHTLY BOWED FROM SIDE TO
SIDE. WITHOUT THE FORD
SPECIFICATIONS, A COMPLETE
ORIGINAL PATTERN TO USE AS A GUIDE, NOT TO MENTION PROPER TOOLS AND
EQUIPMENT AS WELL AS SOMEONE DEEPLY EXPERIENCED IN WOODWORKING, ONE
WOULD FIND THIS ITEM NEARLY IMPOSSIBLE TO PROPERLY DUPLICATE.
This two piece assembly comes complete with all holes for the #12 slotted wood screws drilled
and countersunk as necessary for ease of location and assembly.
If your project is fairly complete and you merely need new wood, this item is just the
ticket. If your project is a basket case, or nearly so, and you need assistance in
determining brackets, screws, etc. we include a DVD that contains more than 30 detailed
shots of the various areas of the assembly as well as the brackets to ease your assembly
task.

R-08-40
Wood “spacers” used between the floor
pan and frame on all 1946 through 1948
Ford and Mercury Passenger cars. These
thin hardwood “blocks” prevent the
collapse and deformation of the floor pan
when the seat is bolted in. We have found
some of these spacers “wrapped” in a
canvas type material on original cars and
others not. The Ford prints show them
without the canvas.
$ 9.95/pair
Note: These blocks compliment kit
